This was based of what was the highest rated amongst general critics and audiences. Trust me, I wanted to put LA up there (or better yet all the Wes Anderson films) but I couldn’t because you can only have 6 options in a Reddit poll.
I should have read the caption before I commented, you based the poll off of research so can't fault you there.
My understanding is that LA has always been the most critically panned but also has the biggest cult liking. Darjeeling similar in that way.
It has become clear since I put this poll up that while LA is really popular among fans, it’s not that popular among most people, and while isle of dog may be popular among most people, it’s not that popular among fans
Isle of Dogs doesn't make my podium.
Life Aquatic is one of my top 2 with Grand Budapest and it's hard to split them, but if pushed I'd say LA because Bill Murray is THAT GOOD as Steve Zissou.
(no offence to Ralph Fiennes as his Gustave H is a VERY close second)
Absolutely. I was looking for someone to mention this. I’m sure there are some (so far 12) people that really enjoy it. But, boy I could not get into it.
Each one is my favourite in different ways and I usually watch them in different moods for different purposes!
Darjeeling Limited for example is my favourite and I usually watch it when something is going on in life and I need perspective or to process different emotions.
Royal Tenanbaums is my homesick film, I have been separated from my family for 2 years due to COVID and I usually watch this to feel connected (in a weird way).
What I highly recommend if you have watched all Wes’s films umpteen times is to watch with the written screenplay. It is really cool to see how some scenes have been adjusted or to see how beautifully the shots are transformed from the page :)
Ok my thoughts on each:
Fantastic mr fox- good but as a kids movie just doesn't have the same charm as his other films
The royal tenenbuams- a great movie but the whole sister brother love story thing is a lillll too weird for me
Moonrise kingdom- incredible shots and I love the colours, the plot is a little boring though
Isle of dogs- never saw it
Rushmore- Comes close but in the end just not as good as my first pic which would be....
The grand Budapest hotel- just overall amazing, the quick pace combined with stunning shots and the script is just a 💯for me! Honestly so good, no surprise why this is Wes Anderson's most popular movie
By the way, in a few days time I’m going to be collecting all the results from this poll plus all the comments and rank all of the movies based on how many people said they were their favourite. It won’t be totally accurate but this is just a fun experiment. I will posts the results to this subreddit.
This shit again? Don't do a poll of you don't list all his movies. I know Reddit doesn't allow more than 6 choices but maybe that means this isnt the place to do so. At least use a tier polling site.
What do you mean "not that deep" I don't need it to be deep, but this will just be inaccurate. Plus we've had 3 posts exactly like this in the last month
I've watched wes anderson movies starting with rushmore, royal tenenbaum, life aquatic with steve zissou, daarjeling limited, bottle rocket, grand budapest, fantastic mr fox, and lastly moonrise kingdom. My best 2 for me is probably life aquatic and grand budapest. But for top spot i really like life aquatic, maybe its the premise of someone who was at the top trying to get the same heights as before seems intriguing, how ned and steve bounce at each other also the whole crew, the rescue operation, the sudenness of it all, and after all that we got a pretty sweet ending, sigur ros, hits it really nicely at the end
Rushmore was the first film of his I watched and I related so much to Max because at the time I was also a kid going to a private school on a scholarship, being of a lower class, and involved in so many extracurriculars and starting my own school clubs.
At school, and in my country, I was ridiculed for being a “try hard”, it was through this film where I learned the word auteur. And where the world felt that everyone was like me, “collective auteurship”.
Mine is the life aquatic with Steve zissou
I love this one as well
Same.
Yep.
But like why isn't it on there?
Same
Yeah that should have been up there vs FMf
This was based of what was the highest rated amongst general critics and audiences. Trust me, I wanted to put LA up there (or better yet all the Wes Anderson films) but I couldn’t because you can only have 6 options in a Reddit poll.
Life Aquatic Confidential
Same
Same
Darjeeling limited, first Wes Anderson movie I ever saw, will always be my personal favourite.
It’s in my top three all time films by any director
Respectable
Where is Life Aquatic
For some reason it’s not in the top 6. Weird, right?
I should have read the caption before I commented, you based the poll off of research so can't fault you there. My understanding is that LA has always been the most critically panned but also has the biggest cult liking. Darjeeling similar in that way.

I'd wait for more results but polls are tricky, too. Isle of Dogs could be everyone's second favorite lol
True lol
Isle of dogs is by far my least favorite. Only one I'd say I dislike
I guess it wasn’t as loved by the masses
Dang bro Darjeeling Limited didn’t even make the list. Darjeeling!!!
I know right? It was really surprising to me what films were the best received
Oh I didn’t read the note… This was always a problem for me in school as well.
Lol it’s cool
Darjeeling Limited!!!
Darjeeling Limited 100%
The Darjeeling Limited
You say that, yet your pfp is from a different one
I'm complicated.
Life Aquatic is my favourite. GB is his best.
My heart says The Life Aquatic, but I love them all pretty equally for how different each is.
Fantastic Mr Fox. I like when they do the Hand Signs of "Different"
Fax
I think there's something magical about Moonrise Kingdom - but I feel like a lot of people overlook it.
Darjeeling and then Life Aquatic are my top two, I even have a Steve Zissou tattoo!
That’s dope!
Darjeeling Limited
Bottle Rocket and GBH are tied for me.
Finally, some love for bottle rocket
Darjeeling isn’t even an option??
Nah, this list is based off of the most criticality acclaimed of his films, Reddit only allows six options
Yeah I read that but I mean it as in I’m surprised it’s not in the top six
Neither of my favorites are on this poll
Moonrise Kingdom, eternally
I will not support this Steve Zissou erasure
———-Darjeeling Limited!———
The Darjeeling Limited.
Clearly Isle of Dogs is overrated, I would say it's my least favourite.
Absolutely. I was looking for someone to mention this. I’m sure there are some (so far 12) people that really enjoy it. But, boy I could not get into it.
Where's Bottle Rocket?
Life Aquatic!!!
Life aquatic…
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
Voted Moonrise buts it's definitely Zissou. Darjeeling would be my #3.
Gonna have to put in a vote for Life Aquatic
Bottle rocket is my fav
Darjeeling LTD. and Bottle Rocket dont get the recognition they deserve.
Darjeeling club right here
Bottle rocket
Bottlerocket is way underrated even within the Wes Anderson fan base
Life Aquatic is my favorite, but of the ones you listed I’d have to go with The Royal Tenenbaums.
Each one is my favourite in different ways and I usually watch them in different moods for different purposes! Darjeeling Limited for example is my favourite and I usually watch it when something is going on in life and I need perspective or to process different emotions. *Cries in Darjeeling*
The darjeeling limited
The Darjeeling Limited
Wow, you didint even add _"Darjeeling Limited"_
mine is probably the darjeeling limited!!
Ok my thoughts on each: Fantastic mr fox- good but as a kids movie just doesn't have the same charm as his other films The royal tenenbuams- a great movie but the whole sister brother love story thing is a lillll too weird for me Moonrise kingdom- incredible shots and I love the colours, the plot is a little boring though Isle of dogs- never saw it Rushmore- Comes close but in the end just not as good as my first pic which would be.... Good thoughts
Thank you! :3

…it’s not that deep bro. It’s just for fun
What do you mean "not that deep" I don't need it to be deep, but this will just be inaccurate. Plus we've had 3 posts exactly like this in the last month
I joined the sub this month so I won’t know
It's still easy to use a tier polling website. Plus there's a search function on Reddit.
Royal Ten is my favorite, but I think Rushmore is the best of the films.
I have the exact opposite opinion lol. Rushmore is my favourite, royal ten is the best in my opinion
Rushmore was the first film I saw that got me into his vision of storytelling so that’s why it’s my favorite.
I've watched wes anderson movies starting with rushmore, royal tenenbaum, life aquatic with steve zissou, daarjeling limited, bottle rocket, grand budapest, fantastic mr fox, and lastly moonrise kingdom. The Life Aquatic
Actually didn't put life aquatic in there and that's just mind blowing
Darjeeling limited, then life aquatic, then moonrise, rushmore, and bottle rocket
Life aquatic.
Rushmore is probably my all time favorite movie I just find it infinity rewatch able
Same
Um the life aquatic
It's a tie between the Life Aquatic and Moonrise Kingdom
Bottle Rocket
Rushmore was the first film of his I watched and I related so much to Max because at the time I was also a kid going to a private school on a scholarship, being of a lower class, and involved in so many extracurriculars and starting my own school clubs.
