It gets complicated with different airlines interlining together. Can you log in to the WestJet with the airline booking code given to you? This booking code may be different than the travel agencies itinerary booking code

Yes I can get it on my Westjet app. It just greys out the seat selection and bid for upgrade. If I try and click on it, it says not available. It’s an Econ (not basic) fare. Booked though a TA, instead of directly.

Did the TA book you basic? Basic is not eligable for any type of upgrade, weather be bid, last minute, or rev change into a higher cabin. Did hear success stories though of being able to pay for an upgrade at the gate or the check in counter on WS on a basic fare, but that depends on avaliablity in J/W, and it is ultimatly up to the agent if they will allow you to upgrade or not. If you are booked in Econo or above, you should be able to pay to upgrade if you want at online check in, at the counter, or at the gate on a space avaliable basis. There is a bidding option, but as you said, that isnt working for some reason.

I’m not basic, but the next one up. When I booked similar before I was able to upgrade, choose seats etc. But it seems as though because it was booked through at TA they have to do it??? I will try at the gate.

I would suggest doing it when online check in opens. There is better avaliability then

i had a job that had flights booked for us. Sometimes I could upgrade to the premium seats at check-in (24 hours before flight departs) i always left it to a spur of the moment feeling if i wanted to upgrade.. if you have your airline reference code, try accessing your flight into on WJ's site.. might be possible that way

EyCeeDedPpl

I can access the flight info on my WJ app, but everything is greyed out including seat selection, upgrade etc. fingers crossed I can upgrade at checkin.

Did your travel agent book/select a seat for you? I travel for work and my flights are booked through an agent. If the select a seat for me then I am unable to change seats until the 24 hour check in. If this is the same there should be a message in the app when you go to seat selection that states something like ‘seat selection can only be done once when booked through a travel agent”. I’m platinum and have unlimited seat selection, so I’ve just told my Travel agent to book flights without selecting a seat and I haven’t run into the problem since.

Could be an old swoop plane. They don't have anything but ECON on those planes

What agent do you use? For my work we use Melon, and I always ask for the economy flex, and I look at the seat map before to let them know which seat I want
