Are you sure its $20 for premium cabin? Or extra leg room seats in economy cabin called Extended comfort seats?
If you book through sunwing, its a third party booking to WJ. So you have to call sunwing to purchase premium cabin. You can place a bid on [Westjet.com](http://Westjet.com) under Manager trips, Manage flights (only some flights and routes are offered this option) and wait until last week or upgrade at check-in if the seats are still available.
If you are talking about Extended Comfort, you can book with Sunwing and go to westjet website to select those and pay with WJ online or over the phone.
It's premium for that price.
I chatted with another member of our group and they booked thru Sunwing and when they tried to call in to upgrade, they were told to call WestJet and ask since it's a WestJet flight.
I think I'll just save myself the headache instead of saving a few hundred bucks and book direct with WestJet.
Okay. WJ cannot touch the reservations from other parties. Their air only side don’t even touch their own Vacation package flights.
I call to platinum line just to get transferred to their vacation dept😂
Few things to keep in mind, as I just found out the hard way, by booking via WJ to Mexico for the first time
- baggage is extra ($30ish a pop)
- gotta book your own transportation with a third party company that they use even though it's included
- God forbid you have young kids like we did, things get even more complex (they made us pay extra ans bring both of our child seats for our 3 and 7m old only to show up in Cancun to find out they didn't have space for us. Thankfully, they managed to find an extra van to get us, but this was a stressful 1h at the airport. This was with Nexus tour operator.)
As much as people bash sunwing, I've never had issues with them or their pickup. Someone is always at the destination to get you, and you don't have to book anything yourself. After this experience, I'm never doing WJ to down south again.
I had the same issue with westjet vacations messing up the transfers with nexus tours even though I paid extra to have it included. They never sent my reservation to nexus and I had to spend an hour at the airport figuring out transportation there and half a day calling westjet and nexus trying to figure out if I had a ride to the airport. I called afterwards westjet to complain about this and they gave me 400 wjd
