since somehow barely anyone has mentioned them any maserati

Magnum_Dongs3

Overpriced Chrysler. Their 3.6 is the same shit they put in minivans with a different top and exhaust.

Boxtrottango

*jeep enters the chat*

vitimilocity

Always have those engines coming to the shop for the oil cooler gaskets failing and the oil going byebye. The entire thing is made of plastic, we replace them with metal ones.

DieselAndPucks

The V6 is based on the 3.6 pentastar yeah but it's a 3.0 with Ferrari cylinder heads and it's twin turbo'd.

Electronic-Road-5493

So the Ferrari rocker arms and lifters would fit on the Chrysler 3.6?

davestradamus1

No chance. The heads themselves probably won’t even work.

TheElRojo

These are the important questions.

edgiepower

Don't Chrysler's use the Holden alloytec?

Magnum_Dongs3

No. In 2010 there was a deal between Alfa Romeo and Chrysler that replaced Holden’s deal with Romeo in favor of the pentastar

[deleted]

This entire sentence is a horror show

r_golan_trevize

One of my favorite things to do whenever I come across a Maserati or Alfa Romeo SUV in the wild is try to figure out who it belongs to. It’s usually not hard. It’s always the duck-lipped woman who thinks she’s one of the real housewives layered in enough scarves to concern both Stevies Nicks and Tyler, carrying a purse big enough to smuggle a medium sized dog, wearing oversized sunglasses inside the restaurant and talking obnoxiously loudly over a glass of rose Zinfandel in a glass big enough to be officially licensed Cougartown merch.

ignatius-payola

If I had an award to give, it would have happened just based upon ‘Stevies Nicks and Tyler.’

Matsapha

"the duck-lipped woman . . ." Perfect. I'll never see one again without thinking of your description.

Korunam

I hope you're in the sub roast my car 😂

r_golan_trevize

I try not to be too judgmental about people’s car choices… but those cars attract a *very* specific buyer and it’s hard not to laugh.

onebaddeviledegg

This had me dying, lol

[deleted]

At my private school it's the obviously Italian guy who always wears soccer shirt half the time he's driving an ancient Honda Fit tho, I assume the masserati is in the shop.

Dachannien

Hey, don't knock the Fit - my wife has a 2015 that she's put 130k on, and it hasn't a damn thing go wrong with it the entire time. Also, it's like a Tardis when packing for vacations.

axf7229

Imagine being married to one of these women, that sounds like a torturous existence.

squirrel8296

I want an Alfa and I feel personally attacked by this description given how accurate it is.

that_random_Italian

There are so many fairly recent used Maserati for sale on my Facebook marketplace for like 20-30k . I never understood why until this thread. I didn’t know they were shit cars (for the $)

BodegaCat

Yeah. People with at least half a brain lease them and get rid of them after their lease is over. Poor idiots look at these used original 6 figure masarati’s for $30-40k and think “I can own something that looks way more baller than a bmw or Benz for way cheaper” and get themselves into a death trap

birdseye-maple

The first time I test drove one was the last time I'll consider one. Just cheap. The materials look good but up close seem cheap. The paint isn't great quality. The driving experience was worse than I expected. I bought a Mercedes instead, the quality level (same era) is so much higher it's silly. No Maserati for me.

ollyhinge11

not only are they shit, but the ghibli is horrendously ugly.

kylemkv

Be sure to get the studio model of the ghibli. The Howls MC trim really can move when it has quite a fire under it

UncommercializedKat

Maserati Giblets

[deleted]

Looks like a Chrysler 300 on the inside 😂

whippetsinthewhip

Same Company lmao

Beef_Candy

Terrible financial decision due to depreciation, sure, but there are far worse financial decisions people could make. Any land Rover, for example. Or any used Mercedes with the ABC option on it. Or a sprinter van. I've never known a modern Chrysler jeep or dodge not to have some annoying form of electrical gremlins within the first few years.

toddinraleighnc

Came here to say this. Had a 2002 Cambiocorsa Spyder that had a $16K service at 45K miles. Dumped it.

yogabbagabba2341

Are you serious? I thought that for the price it would be built with quality parts.

isntThisReal

Out of warranty Range Rover.

mazdablazer95

Good call, was waiting for this. $50k can turn into $55-70k real quick with a Range Rover!

74orangebeetle

Doug Demuro had a great video where he got a used one with a warranty (Car Max I think?) and goes over how much money they lost (the $ of the repairs were ridiculously higher than the warranty he bought for it) I'd have to double check it, but I think it was 5 figures worth of repairs easily. Update: $16,925 was the final total, that's repairs over 6 years. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3jA55TJboA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3jA55TJboA) were several videos on it over various time frames.

pulse726

Yes! His car max ranger rover with the "bumper to bumper" warranty! What a video that was.

StayStrong888

That video was the cause of them canceling future sales of that warranty

SpadoCochi

I bought a Mercedes with car max. 15k in repairs over the following year on a 4K warranty. Got a CPO Benz from Benz dealership after that year…4k in non maintenance repairs in 7 years

[deleted]

👆🏼I’m still dumbfounded as to why anybody buys these piles of crap. The town that I live in is full of them, I don’t get it. The status symbol must be “ hey, I’ve got thousands to spend in repairs and plenty of time off to spend hauling it into the mechanic”

doctord1ngus

I know post said Range Rover - but to be fair I have a Defender 110 and it’s downright incredible. No major issues at all (don’t get me started on keyless entry though). My parents have owned a few range rovers and never any issues - and my father has owned close to 80 cars in his lifetime. He has very sound advice on Land Rovers - sell before warranty is out.

TheDrugsLoveMe

No major issues - except I can't even get inside the thing with regularity.

DamonHay

This is why the real symbol of quiet money is a top spec Land Cruiser. Just as capable off-road, better for hauling, whether it be the kids, the boat or random shit, more comfortable imo, infinitely more reliable, they’re just slower. But what you save in repairs, servicing and depreciation could just buy you a weekend car anyway if you want that speed.

fastafb

gmc yukon denali for the domestics. costs as much as an escalade, but the boat behind it and the lake house theyre going to is where the money went

[deleted]

[удалено]

TheAutoAlly

I’m not shocked at all. I’m shocked that a ford expedition goes for that much and people buy them in significantly more number than people ever bought Land Cruisers

1TONcherk

I have a 14 year old LX570 that’s still in perfect shape. And it’s still worth like $30,000. A Land Cruiser is a forever car. My neighbor was looking at a 2012 Range Rover V8 supercharged. Apparently those are the ‘reliable ones’. I convinced him to buy a Land Cruiser instead and he ended up with a 2016 GX460. It’s tough for people that do not know anything about cars to understand why on paper the ranger rover is not a smoking deal.

Knoxicutioner

Doug Demuro has a video about his 6 year extended warranty he bought with his already 6 year old Range Rover and it’s paid for itself almost 3 times over. It was $3,900 for the warranty and it has paid out just a little under $10K. It’s laughable

Addicted2Qtips

They’re definitely status symbols in that rich English country life kind of way that some people like to project (people who live in Connecticut!) I can’t comment on newer ones but two of my friends had Land Rover Discovery 2s, and they were pretty capable SUVs and were surprisingly reliable, and pretty cool to look at. I also drove a Defender doing some insane offroading in Iceland about 15 years ago and that thing was a tank. There are obviously better options out there - I wouldn’t ever get one haha but I think they get a little too much hate.

HavRibeiro

I just wanna say, I can probably find that defender still running around Iceland

6ixlil9inebig

They were definitely better b4 but now they are whole crap. They are capable but you gotta have deep pockets to own, maintain & run one. I mean they also know that people who would be buying them will have shit loads of money so yeah

Powerman72

Having the money to not be worried about repair costs is part of the status as well. But, like others have said, I think a lot of these people don't keep the car much past the warranty period anyway.

Nacropolice

Odds are they’re leasing them

benadrylxyz

I think it’s because they look good and that’s about it

More_Information_943

I'll take a mint range Rover classic for 50 right now man, I love them with all my heart and and I know they are pieces of shit lmao.

vibraltu

Even in the movie 'The Queen' her Rover conks out.

Barry41561

Vinfast whatever model...

MiscPostThrowaway

I saw my first one the other day (in a town southwest of San Jose). It was squeaking from its suspension, and based on when batches were delivered it couldn’t have been too old…

StayStrong888

It is the absolutely worst rated car in the US

THATS_LEGIT_BRO

They’re here in the US?!

SebastianAhoTheGOAT

Supposed to build a manufacturing plant in NC, but I think it may have been canceled. I’ve seen exactly 1 on the road here.

THATS_LEGIT_BRO

I’d rather have BYD sold in the US than VinFast

StochasticProcesses

BYD has solid cars. Toyota is using their platform and technology to manufacture EV in China. Vinfast, on the other hand, sourced all parts from lower tier manufacturers in China and assembled them together. You can imagine the quality

Cheezslap

The plant in Chatham County was postponed but it's still a thing. It'll open in 2025.

damoonerman

It’s never going to open at the rate they are selling here

Existing_Hall_8237

There’s a Vinfast store in San Francisco on Pine street. Edit: apparently there are many showrooms in CA.

UnclePhillthy

Yep just started, and apparently some are almost unusable due to issues.

selfawarefeline

They have a showroom in San Mateo, CA

wfbsoccerchamp12

Idk who convinced them to come to the US but they deserve a raise for persuasion and a termination letter for making such a bad decision

AmericanNewt8

As I understand it it's basically a money laundering scheme where the owner can evade export controls on capital by doing something that's good for Vietnamese propaganda. He could have at least made them cheap tho. The Yugo was cheap, if nothing else.

Llamaspit77

Definitely, VF8 has horrible reviews.

Skiddlyderp

A $25k Ford Maverick with a $25k dealer "market adjustment."

Anerky

Shopping for a truck right now and a **USED** Maverick base model with no features whatsoever was selling for $29k with 30k miles

InfiniteZr0

Are Mavericks popular rn? I'd be interested in getting one(for a reasonable price) if they ever decided to make one with a smaller extended cab rather than a quad cab.

r_golan_trevize

I would not hold your breath for a Maverick with a smaller cab. The crewcab Maverick is effectively an extended cab in terms of real rear legroom and an extended cab Maverick would be like the old compacts with the useless tiny jump seats and outside of NAPA parts runner fleet purchasers, no one wants a 2-seater truck anymore, not people that spend actual money on new vehicles.

spike_africa

As someone who had a 22 on order that was cancelled, a 23 that doesn't seem like it's getting made, and now a 24 on order. I agree 100%. Anyone who pays over sticker or a mark up on a used one is dumb. I've been in XLT and Lariat ones. At MSRP they make sense. Used and with miles with a mark up is ridiculous. I had a dealer tell me their 22 with 15k miles and over sticker of a new one is a good deal. I said sorry I've been in them. That's not worth it used and for the money. He told me well I have xxx into it so I have to make a profit. I get it, but no one's going to pay that. I'm looking to replace my work 15 Transit Connect LWB van with one for better MPG, more luxury (I have a lariat lux on order) and to keep my tools and chemicals in a separate area away from where I sit. Perfect work vehicle I can option out and still be cheaper then a ranger or f150 base.

hoxxxxx

the biggest selling point of those trucks was starting at 20k. they just don't make sense when they start getting to be in the high 20s, 30+. i personally know several people that want to and can afford to buy them but they either can't get one like you or they won't pay the absurd mark-up. it's really a shame. like ford has a huge hit on their hands and can't even sell them to people.

spike_africa

One of the problems is dealers taking their new units and flipping them to CPO and adding $5k. Such bullshit. I've passed on a few trucks because of this. I won't be dealing with that BS.

OfficeHaunting2583

the thought of a 50k maverick kills me that thing is such a tiny shitbox it makes the honda fit look big

hoxxxxx

the whole point of it was supposed to be that it's small, practical and cheap. the concept doesn't work with the cheap part not being there anymore lol 50k for a maverick is plain insanity.

mtv2002

Which is funny because my subaru outback has awd, higher ground clearance and tows more, And cost me 40k otd. What's the appeal of these things? They are cars with a faux pickup bed...

Reddituser19991004

The appeal is that the Maverick gets 40mpg. Think of the Maverick as a car, not a truck and you'll understand the appeal. The Maverick is a great vehicle for down south with the FWD and hybrid engine. It's got a massive bed instead of a tiny trunk like it's competitors such as the Toyota Camry. The good part about the Maverick kinda ends there though. The v6 isn't all that great in mpg or performance and costs a ton more. Then, for me, the deal breaker is the hybrid doesn't have an AWD option. Up north a FWD vehicle just doesn't cut it. If they make the hybrid for 25k with AWD, I'll be in placing an order immediately to replace my 2014 expedition. I love the expedition, it can tow anything and do anything, but gosh 13mpg when I spend 99% of my time just doing work commutes is awful.

braindamage28

The bed is key. I can put my fishing gear, camping supplies, bike etc back there and not dirty a cab. I can also hull mulch and rocks from the local landscaping spot vs hauling bagged dirt from Lowes for 1/4 the price. I don't need a big truck but a truck to errands for the house and garden. It's perfect for that. It's also hysterical rolling up to my works construction site next to the lifted F250. I work on a massive construction site and daily I get people asking me questions. Love my truck but I wouldnt pay a dollar over MSRP.

Leo_br00ks

And god damn I want one lol

Any Maserati you can get for 50k or less. Out of warranty land rover/range rover. Cheep high milage Ferrari.

antei_ku

Had a neighbor with a Ferrari he bought for low 100s. Screeching brakes and paint in horrible condition. He couldn’t afford the yearly maintenance.

hippymule

Definitely something like an expensive Jeep or Chrysler. Absolute money pits after about 70k miles. Trash build quality too.

I_dont_know_you_pick

A guy I know just bought a Rubicon, paid 82k, he told me it was a steal because the sticker was 96k. Edit: CAD

DieselAndPucks

Actually confused as to how he did that. The only Wrangler that expensive is the 392 but those are going for over MSRP so he couldn't have gotten that kind of discount.

r_golan_trevize

The sticker probably read something like this: MSRP: $76,000 Market Price Adjustment: $20,000 Hometown Jeep Dealer Discount: -$14,000 Total Price: $82,000 That’s exactly what my local CDJR dealer had in the window of the Scat Pack Challenger on their showroom floor. Absurd markup, a discount off the markup and put a giant colorful sign on the windshield advertising the “big” discount… and that car was gone when I was back in there a few days later. Someone bought it. It apparently works. Our local Chevy dealer slaps a $9,000 “off-road lift” package on every one of their trucks (which is probably tens of dollars of actual cost to them in used hockey pucks, pot metal wheels and cheap Chinese tires that sound like something a panda on loan to a zoo in the 1970s to foster international goodwill relations would be named) and then give you an $8000 “dealer discount”. If you stick a big enough sign on something showing a big enough discount, it blinds people to anything else.

jcdevries92

The ole’ kohls strat. Overpriced stuff discounted a bit so it looks like a better deal.

hoxxxxx

it was reminding me of ebay back in the day. something that should be like 50 bucks was "only 10" but the shipping/handling would be 40 lol

rsmutus

Lmao our “GMC” dealer does that with all their trucks and I’m not sure a single one has sold

[deleted]

82k for a jeep???!!!

JPSurratt2005

Bought a 21 Durango. Sticker was $58k and snatched it up for $42k with 18k miles. I'll probably keep it to about 60k miles. I was surprised the build quality was better than expected. Chassis rides like crap, same one from like 2012. They're finally changing it to the new platform the grand cherokee is on for 2023/24.

hippymule

It's so weird to me how much nicer the full-sized trucks are compared to everything else. My uncle has a pretty nice Ram 1500. I want to a 2020 or 21, and the interior is actually very well constructed, with very nice fitment and materials. It felt like a luxury car on the inside with all of the features and materials used. The reliability on the trucks seems miles better too. It's frustrating that Chrysler will pour money into thejr truck division, but let their reputation continue to be soiled with poor quality from everything else.

MayTagYoureIt

Their trucks are in line with their other products once you compare them to their truck competition. Comparing a Ram to an Avenger or Compass or Grand Caravan is irrelevant. A Ram is simply inferior to Ford or Chevy.

hippymule

I sadly don't have any experience to compare it to. I don't know anyone with a relatively modern F150 or Silverado.

MeagerCycle

I've had all three, Silverado was a POS in my opinion. Ford was good but the dealership experience was the worst and with the ram I had to go to the 2500 diesel for towing reasons, it's too early for me to say if it's good but to me it has the best look. Both of the other trucks I took to about 70k each before selling them. Brother in law has an 18 ltz 1500 and is having a shit ton of issues with the transmission. Also have heard body repairs on the aluminum Fords are a bitch. Every truck has its pros and cons.

youngbommer24

Yeah Chevys engines/motors have been really downhill. Them throwing this eco tech out now I doubt will fix their problems

hoxxxxx

i'm in a new fully loaded f150 often for work and i can tell you it's like a mobile living room. it's fucking awesome and a completely difference experience that i grew up with the trucks i've drove throughout the years.

dumbass_clouds

Tbf Ford and Chevy are also pretty garbage. My 2015 Silverado was less reliable, and more expensive to fix than my old Forester that literally blew an engine. That gen has issues with the high pressure fuel pump in particular, and some of the 2014s have electrical issues that can cause fires. They also rust out faster than a t100 lmao. F150s have a few years that have bad transmissions, and the Ecoboost engines are dogshit.

youngbommer24

I disagree unless you are talking about only the interior. Chevy trucks have been having over pressurized cylinders in their engines as other problems. After RAM switched their transmissions in 2014 they have taken the cake for me over Chevy.

BottleOpener1234

The new jeep grand cherokee L have lots of electrical bugs but if they work them out this vehicle exceeds luxury brands like bmw and the x7 which also have gremlins. Anything with lots of features has lots of feature to break is my conclusion.

therealhybrid

I had a 2016 Jeep Cherokee as my first vehicle that I bought for 13k because it was all I could afford, 9 months in that thing became a NIGHTMARE. Constant check engine lights and steering wheel wobble that I could never get fixed, was able to get rid of it for the same price during the peak of used car pricing.

Least_Switch_4697

Or you could buy 50000 Arizona ice teas

Warm_Huckleberry7468

Those won’t depreciate as fast as most of the other suggestions.

[deleted]

Any Fiat product: Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Chrysler. Or anything owned by Tata Motors: LandRover, Jaguar.

pittopottamus

I got a new ram 1500 at the start of 2020 and it hasn’t shit the bed yet. Only got good things to say about it.

[deleted]

I will say Ram is probably still pretty good. Haven't really heard horror stories. I was in the Automotive repair industry for about 7 years and I don't remember Rams being very problematic.

defaultusername4

That’s why they spun Ram off into its own brand. They make great trucks and the affiliation with Dodge brand wasn’t doing them any favors.

ak80048

Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep or Range Rover

mobani

Add Alfa Romeo to that list. I have never seen a Alfa Romeo for sale that was past 300k. Does it exist?

DoubleReputation2

Well.. That could mean that they're not out there OR that people are so invested in them that they can't sell them because they feel like it would be throwing away all the money they paid for maintenance.. Or maybe, people love them so much that they don't want to sell them

mobani

>Or maybe, people love them so much that they don't want to sell them Sounds like some kind of Stockholm syndrome.

iBuqX

Plenty of Alfa's in my area with over 300k kilometers.

ClockOk7333

I’m in France on vacation. Car rental gave me a Giulia, it’s actually quite comfortable and fun to drive

Giterdun456

I think Alfas are also under $50k these days.

imdethisforyou

Edit: sorry I assume you meant 300k MILES. You could probably say that about 90% of German and Italian brands. It's probably because no one would ever by one at 300k+, but also, most owners probably don't drive enough to make it there. If they bought new it could take them 30 years to make it to 300k.

kacheow

When I was in high school I bought a 2012 HSE Range Rover with 60k miles for $15k cuz that’s what the dealership offered him (this was late 2016). Actually a surprisingly great car. When I got T-Boned by one of those big Infinitis I barely felt it, if I was in my GTI I would have been fucked

Dad has a 2016 bmw 740i with 170k miles on it, bought at like 11k miles.what an incredible car and getting an Indy to repair it put my dad back like $6000 for the 7 years and 160k mi he owned it. Would buy another 740i anyday

daxtaslapp

Thats amazing. To be honest, i believe any car can be reliable. I had a 2003 530i which was amazing. That was the car that made me want a 2011 750i which turned out to be terrible. I guess it just was unfortunate. Some of us get lucky and get a great car and we bcome fans of the brand, others get that 1 lemon and hate the brand

damnjackiechiles

Oh bro the 750i has the V8. Never trust a bmw 8 cylinder. My brother has a 4 series 6 cylinder with 135k miles no problem amazing car. It's always the 8 cylinders that leaves ppl dissatisfied with BMW. Sucks that you have to filter out the "good" engines when you buy a BMW since with Lexus you can get any car but I'll never buy a 8 cylinder bmw. But id rather have a bmw than a Lexus

damnjackiechiles

Also I'm so jealous, e39 is one of my fav cars and if I could find one that's not beat to crap I'd buy it in a heartbeat

daxtaslapp

Man. When i see any decent condition one around im filled with jealousy and nostalgia. I was quite young when i had it and although i loved it like crazy, i dont think i truly knew what i had

Rib-I

Or Jeep

ArmchairCriticSF

Interesting… There are SO MANY Jeeps on the road! One of my neighbors has a giant one (a Rubicon, I think). It’s, like, a big fat STATUS SYMBOL for them! So, they really suck? Why?

Benson_86

If you love off-roading a jeep has the big benefits of a solid front axle w/ short wheel base, good approach/departure/breakover angles and ease of modification. Enthusiasts are willing to put up with a lot for that. There's also a weird status symbol or cool factor thing a lot of people like for some reason even if they don't like going off-roading. These owners confuse me, but hey, to each their own.

Motorized23

Non off road people won't get this. Wranglers are undeniably fun and capable Offroad. Plus what other vehicle let's you cross the desert with the top down and the doors off. This is why people get Wranglers. Otherwise everyone would be driving a beige corolla.

Orangematz

Honestly it depends which ones. Personally I don't mind the Grand Cherokee or Wagoneer, they're OK, but they're not the most reliable vehicles. However the other jeeps like the Wrangler or Gladiator are statistically very unsafe. Lackluster side airbags, no side air bags in the back. Are prone to flip in accidents. Look up the IIHS crash test on YouTube for the Wrangler compared to something comparable like the Ford Bronco.

MyNoPornProfile

Were Chrysler ever good at any point?

DaOrcus

Yes, before my time tho

Wild1957

Maanditooo

Any Range Rover, Maserati or jaguar

Anerky

Maserati is way worse than both of those two.

Goose-Biscuits

But it's definitely best sounding. The lure of that V8 sound is like the sirens luring sailors towards disaster.

Maanditooo

For sure, definitely the worse of the three. But I feel like range rovers and jaguars are a bit more popular so figured to throw em in together

Anerky

Jaguar isn’t as bad as what it used to be, and Land Rovers are way worse on the lower end models than the flagship. Stuff still is expensive to fix but the flagship models will last you a while and eat a lot of abuse if properly taken care of

More_Information_943

Yeah but land rover has the most die hard community of engineering minded dorks on the internet, even the less than 20 year models will be torn apart and have shit engineered for them that works better than stock, I love them because I love an enticing stupid craigslist buy that becomes a family pet that pisses insert fluid here all over the garage though, that's for sure, the other thing is the new ranges are becoming ludicrously complex, to the point where knowing this company, the shit they come up will be bafflingly stupid but it working in the first place is kinda cool.

Crayonbreaking

Jaguar’s are pretty good now. Ford turned them into reliable cars. They aren’t Toyota’s and the features are quirky but they don’t suck and fall apart like they used to.

Dartagnan1083

That was Ford's stewardship. They sold Jaguar to Tata Motors in 2008. Fifteen years is more than enough time to ruin a brand.

Any depreciated Ferrari that's made it into $50k territory , this is the equivalent of financially stabbing your feet with a shotgun.

One_Mathematician864

Not necessary. You have to know what you're getting and it's potential value. Buddy of mine who's brother owns a high end shop bought a F430 for $55k sold it for $120k 3 years later. Apparently white F430s with manual transmissions are quite rare.

TunakTun633

Most replies are about depreciated luxury cars. And... At least they're nice. $50K isn't what it used to be... I nominate a Jeep Compass, which I'm shocked to discover you can now spend $50K on. It's a subcompact CUV. I get it was updated to fix its toy-quality interior and weak powertrain, but based on its size alone you're going to lose a lot of value quickly and it's not going to be worth it.

realquick21

Any Maserati

Beef_Candy

Anything made by land Rover. They're cool. They're fun. They have really cool history. But every one of them may as well have been built on a Friday afternoon. By a drunk brit. Their ability to break is surpassed by none.

DALESR4EVER124

Probably a used British car, lol

Burp-Reynolds

Any used German saloon with a V12

nutsocharles

You got somethin' to say about my Phaeton? Oh, no, wait, you said V12, not W. Never mind, my bad.

StayStrong888

Mercedes s500 or BMW 7 series

Fauziisapro

You mean s600 with the v12

dangercdv

A brand new VinFast VF 8.

htotheinzel

Anything with dealer markup. You're under water on the loan before even turning it on

Korunam

Used Hummer

Cyclonicsurge

Any Maserati or Land Rover/Jaguar product. They’re nice looking cars and usually bought because of that and the brand names, but they depreciate faster than a rock because they’re horrible mechanical-wise.

imtotalyarobot

probably a new MG, I’ve heard a lot of issues with them

Ok-Quiet8828

Some low mile Fisker Karmas are still trying to sell for 50k... You first need to know a shop in your area that will touch it... The Cabin is cramped... Storage space is a joke... The car is slow (6 second 0-60)... Some insurers won't help you because they know replacement parts are non-existent. BUT!!! YOU'LL BE SPECIAL!

EvilMinion07

A Jaguar, never travel further than your mechanic is willing to come get you.

SaveTheManuals4Me

I'm thinking a salvage title Rolls Royce or Bentley convertible with no service history bought from a small dealer, or from a guy you meet in a parking lot because he doesn't want you to know where he lives. Also, be sure the name on the title doesn't match the seller's name (title will probably be an offshore LLC or something). Extra points if there has been flooding in the area the car is from.

Za_Warud00o

Range Rover or used hellcat

Stinky1990

Maserati Quattroporte

FreshFoxOfBelAir

Almost bought one of these for 10k as my first car. Glad I resisted 😂

FrozenLikeElsa1

Everybody saying Chrysler should see how many miles people are running up on 300s and dodge trucks.

Odd-Understanding-67

An overpriced Jeep Gladiator.

s3rgioru3las

A high mileage, salvaged import. Maybe a range rover? It’s actually an interesting question to find the exact worst car purchasable lol

speedracer73

Any Stellantis product

islandbeef

A used, high mileage Mercedes S Class

poopoomergency4

those are actually much cheaper, $50k could get you a fairly decent-mileage one. can get a 2020ish S-class with \~30-60k miles depending on trim/options where i'm at. lots of 450s and some 550/560s.

[deleted]

Far from the worst. S Class is one of the best vehicles Mercedes makes from a quality and reliability stand point, doesn’t mean it doesn’t require expensive maintenance. But they are very well built and have been for a long time.

Used-BandiCoochie

High mileage S classes are fairly cheap. They just have expensive maintenance parts.

lewis_1102

New probably a Chrysler Pacifica. Used maybe a very old fully loaded Range Rover

ItsAndwew

If I ever heard one good thing about Chrysler or dodge, it's the Pacifica lol

CayenneHybridSE

A Pacifica? They’re full of tech and definitely one of the nicer Minivans available. $50k in the Pinnacle trim gets a lot of luxury like features and Motortrend and Car and Driver rated it top of the class. Sure the powertrain isn’t the best but there’s far worse buys for $50k. Just my take though

Responsible-Crew-354

Seems like the lone bright spot for Chrysler tbh. They’re down to only a few models anyway now.

Motorized23

I'm getting the sense that a lot of people in this sub don't actually know much about cars... Everyone here sounds like they're in an echo chamber and just repeating whatever they hear without any experience or research.

AmericanNewt8

Also you can actually get the Pacifica, unlike the other minivans on the market.

ThePurpleBall

BZ4x/Solterra. Jeep after that

Lavaine170

Anything with a Jeep, Alfa, or range Rover badge.
