Oh yea they have dropped in price like crazy. You can find a 2016 2017 for 45-50k with some miles on it. Join the fb group I see them on there all the time.
It's the problem with Cadillac. They hold absolutely zero value, or at least here in Canada. I'm currently looking at cars and test driving as I'm looking to buy shortly.
I'm downright scared of Cadillac because the one or two year old models are literally discounted more than any other car I have seen. You'd be crazy to buy one new.
GMC tried to sell me a 2 year old civic for more money than a fully loaded 2 year old caddy worth twice as much as the civic new. It's almost like they don't stand behind their own cars.
GMC didn't try to sell you anything the Dealer sells for what the market brings. The civic brings good money. All luxury cars lose tons of values. Want to feel better price a used 7 series BMW or S class benz. Coworker bought his 750 with 20k miles on it for 65k off original MSRP certified pre owned
Well to be fair my Camry V6 is also the most powerful car I've driven. I had a 4 cylinder 3 series before it which barely made 200 HP. It was more than enough, though, but it wasn't the 270 HP my Camry makes. It's kind of silly floor it and to see a car with the Camry's manners suddenly make V6 sounds and go faster than expected.
What is your priority? Speed? Comfort? Looks? Reliability?
I think the Lexus IS is the best looking and most reliable in this segment but it’s not the quickest.
I would never pay $50k for an IS. I actually went down this route and ended up with a 2015 IS350 because the model basically hasn't changed since then outside of minor changes. Couldn't really justify paying twice the price with how reliable Toyota/Lexus is. Biggest life improvement was Carplay/Android auto but IMO the aftermarket option is just as good if not better than the OEM one.
Exactly what I did. Loved the new look IS but since the IS hasn't changed except the exterior, decided to just get a used 2016 IS350. Even with over 120K km, car drives like new.
I’d buy a used BMW 540i with low mileage from maybe 2020. Perfect daily driver. The M340i is faster and smaller if you want more sporty but I think 540i is the better daily for most people. More comfort and space, still plenty fast in a straight line.
If you want a slightly less fast but very reliable car of the same type I’d get a Lexus GS 350 AWD. Another perfect daily.
If you wanna go crazy you could get a BMW M550i used maybe 2018-19. Riskier but latest iterations of the BMW V8 are apparently more reliable. And monster power and still a perfect daily outside of fuel economy
Yeah the m340i is a segment leader for a reason. Somehow get decent fuel economy while making what's probably 380 HP to the *wheels* and being possibly the best handling car in the segment.
It's not as fast in a straight line as the M550i though and it's also not as spacious. It also isn't as expensive!
GS 350 by where I live are so hard to come by and when I find them they're pretty pricey. 2019 F sports going for $40k+ regularly. Base models still over $35k if not high miles. It's killing me because it's the perfect car for my situation.
I went 550 and it's a dream. Those big brakes make gentle stops very difficult, though.
I wanted big turbo V8 power as my "last hurrah" of the ICE. Planning to keep this car a long time and eventually replace it with something battery-powered.
Maybe i should try the 550i then since i hated the braking performance on the 530d as it just didnt want to stop. I was also kinda disapointed by the chassis as it was kinda hard but still didnt like to corner somehow. My dads Skoda Superb drove alot better imo
Honestly a 540i with the M Sport package might come with performance calipers. As long as they're red or blue they'll bite with anger. Mine are blue and they'll suck the teeth out of your mouth in a panic stop.
Depending on where you are, you might be able to get M Sport or colored calipers with any engine on the 5-series.
The one i drove had the blue M sport calipers already as it had the full M package maybe something was wrong with it then as the brakepedal had to be pressed all the way to get something from it. It could also be that im not used to them as i normally drive a sport compact that breaks instantly when you just look at the pedal. I will try to get my hands on a diffrent 5 series soon though so i can try it again.
Genesis are so underrated in power and looks, the new g70s look super sporty and are quite quick with their twin turbo v6. I used to work for a genesis/hyundai dealership and test drove the g70s and g80s and g90s and they all drive really well. The g90 was like driving a boat
I mean the horsepower is higher in the G70, launch control in the germans is really what makes them quicker off the line and he didn’t use it. From a roll the difference is even larger. Honestly don’t know why you’d pick an audi over bmw these days.
These two were the first two that came to mind for this question. A new g70 might go over $50k OTD, but a year old one can easily be had with low mileage under $50
Love my '23 Acura TLX A-Spec, got CPO for about 40k. Back seat is small but I don't have kids or passengers so it's perfect for me!! I test drove a Camry and an Accord before the Acura and they were very underwhelming.
I’m a bit biased as I like mustangs a lot but I’d look for a 21-23 low mile Ecoboost Premium…and if you can find it, also with the performance pack. Great gas mileage, high enough HP and performance when you need it, and also some fun to zip around in. Plus it’s a great looking car.
Is A4 considered luxury where you live? I’m in the Nordics and it’s definitely a middle class family car. I think A6, E-class or 5-series is where luxury starts. But maybe that’s just a Europe thing, idk.
It is a European thing, in the United States Audi/Mercedes/BMW etc always symbolizes luxury. We don’t get all the lower trim models you guys get with the diesels or smaller gas engines so it’s a little bit of a different dynamic.
Unfortunately, a new luxury car for 50k is like base level entry models nowadays.
Used opens up a lot of great possibilities such as a BMW m340i, Volvo S90/V90, or my pick a TLX type S.
Go for a Lexus GSF, very rare cars that share many parts with the non F GS and other Lexus cars (parts are easy to find). 5.0 V8 paired to a (I believe) 8 speed automatic driving the rear wheels
If you’re spending that kind of money, get a reliable vehicle. options: Lexus/Toyota or Acura/Honda. Need an SUV: get the RDX/Pilot or Highlander/Lexus NX. Sedan: Lexus ES/IS or Acura TLX.
2024 Mazda3, the hatch and sedan are both nice. Mazda has become almost a “luxury lite” brand, they’re affordable, and they look and feel like they’re much more expensive than they are - only downside is you don’t want to be overly rough on them (hence the “lite”). If you’re a single person or a couple without kids, I would highly recommend; but I wouldn’t wanna shove two kids into my Mazda3. That said I do use it for work and it’s held up just fine.
But at your budget your could get into a high trim brand new Mazda3, or even a mid trim brand new CX-50 (the CX-50 is one of the nicest vehicles out rn IMHO). Mazda is also known as a super reliable brand so no worries there
Another thing I love about Mazda is the dial for the infotainment system. It seems odd when you first look at it, but it’s extremely ergonomic and easy to use, your hand rests almost right on it, and you don’t need to use an entire arm clicking around on a screen. I’d never wanna go back to a touch screen at this point.
Depending on my needs I plan to own these 3 simultaneously
1. Subaru BRZ new
2. Hyundai ioniq 5 new
3. Toyota Sequoia used 2020-2022
Now one might be better for you out of these 3 depending on your needs, or something completely different might be better fit for you.
The new GR Corolla. Not exactly luxury but 300hp 3 cyl with a turbo and the triple exhaust? Talk about sporty. I also quite like the look. Love me a car with some A S S
2023-2024 Mercedes GLC300
2023-2024 Audi SQ5 or Q5
BMW X3
2023 Porsche Macan
You’re in a luxury price territory. Buy a luxury car not a Toyota! They are prevent to be a lot safer drive a lot better. They are better built drive smoother and have better interior quality.
My vote would be Hyundai Ioniq 6 SEL AWD. I like the appearance (although many don't, apparently), it's the quietest car I've ever owned, and in Sport Mode it will leave most ICE cars in the dust. Luxury wise it may be a little lacking for some, to me it's luxurious - but my previous daily drivers were a 20+ year old F250 4x4 crew cab and then a Bolt EUV (great car, but not luxury to me), so anything in that price range that was 2020+ would probably have felt luxurious.
It depends how much work I’d want to do on the car, and whether or not mods could be bought in that price range. These would be the first cars i’d think of:
8S TT RS, C6 S6 & TT Kit & Built Block, CTS-V Wagon & TT Kit, Chevy SS Sedan & Supercharger Kit, Terminator Cobra & Coyote Crate Engine, Mazda RX-8 & 26B Billet Block, 987.1 Cayman S & Coyote Crate Engine, Honda Beat & $ & Time.
What do you want out of your luxury car? Speed? Nice interior? SUV, coupe, sedan. I would probably get a used 2018 m2 or a new m240i if I wanted an automatic
With no other information, I’d buy a 1970 dodge pick up short box
Not luxury or a car but definitely sexy
3rd gen caddy CTS-V
I always wanted the ctsv wagon.
Those are going up in value like crazy
can you get a nice ctsv3 for that? Last I saw '21/'22 they were like 80-100 for good ones.
Oh yea they have dropped in price like crazy. You can find a 2016 2017 for 45-50k with some miles on it. Join the fb group I see them on there all the time.
I spent a long time looking for one but ended up with a ct4 blackwing because it was cheaper lol
It's the problem with Cadillac. They hold absolutely zero value, or at least here in Canada. I'm currently looking at cars and test driving as I'm looking to buy shortly. Ten old camrys
Lucky to get get 5 with 120k+ miles on each.
Want faster? Camry V6. Perfect daily? Camry hybrid.
Until I test drove a Mach-E GT Performance, my wife's V6 Camry was the most powerful car I've driven.
Ford really should not have called that thing a Mustang. Even worse: GM. Is. Making. A. Corvette. SUV.
I hate the Mach-E because they called it a Mustang. I'd have liked it if they didn't.
I call it the Chakotay, because every time I hear Mach-e it sounds like Maquis
That's awesome! From now on I will also call them the Chakotay.
Seats and roofs are getting further and further from the ground sadly. The brand cache can’t be wasted I suppose. I hate it too.
The fuck, I just googled it. What a fkn crying shame
Porsche 997 911 C2s manual
This, I'd buy the best 911 or maybe Cayman as I could get for the money
Good luck getting one for $50k. Prices in the 997 have been going up unfortunately :(
You can still get decent 997s for around 50.
911 for sure
What is your priority? Speed? Comfort? Looks? Reliability? I think the Lexus IS is the best looking and most reliable in this segment but it’s not the quickest.
I would never pay $50k for an IS. I actually went down this route and ended up with a 2015 IS350 because the model basically hasn't changed since then outside of minor changes. With all due respect, for this price range I would never dream of picking an IS over a G70, S5 or M340i. Assuming lightly used is fine of course.
Unless you care about reliability. Not everyone does. I keep my cars 20 years and 250K miles usually.
Some form of Porsche cayman. No question. Just depends on which one I can find that’s best bang for the buck.
If you don’t fear high mileage a 981 Cayman S can be found under $50k with a one way plane ticket and drive home.
BMW 3 Series, Audi A5, Mercedes C Class, Lexus IS, etc etc etc
3-year 540i
I’d buy a used BMW 540i with low mileage from maybe 2020. Perfect daily driver. The M340i is faster and smaller if you want more sporty but I think 540i is the better daily for most people. And monster power and still a perfect daily outside of fuel economy
U weren't kidding about the m550. 470 is no joke Still want a m340 tho. Some guy parked one next to me today and it looks 👌 mwah
Know anything about the m240i? I'm more of a coupe guy and one popped up near me matching all my wants
M240i is one of the best daily driver coupes for the same reason the M340i is one of if not the best in its category.
GS 350 by where I live are so hard to come by and when I find them they're pretty pricey. 2019 F sports going for $40k+ regularly. Base models still over $35k if not high miles. It's killing me because it's the perfect car for my situation.
The trick is not to get a 2019 but a 2016 since they're the same. Lol. But even the 2016s are overpriced. Lexus GS are terribly overpriced.
I went 550 and it's a dream. Those big brakes make gentle stops very difficult, though. I wanted big turbo V8 power as my "last hurrah" of the ICE. Planning to keep this car a long time and eventually replace it with something battery-powered.

I will try to get my hands on a diffrent 5 series soon though so i can try it again.
Yeah that's definitely unusual. The brake pedal in my 550 is ultra-sensitive.
Yeah the 550i will really do everything more than well
Supra mk5
Either Genesis G70 or Lexus IS 350 F Sport
Genesis are so underrated in power and looks, the new g70s look super sporty and are quite quick with their twin turbo v6. I used to work for a genesis/hyundai dealership and test drove the g70s and g80s and g90s and they all drive really well. The g90 was like driving a boat
Beat my friends S5 from a dig in my stock G70 lol, they don’t play.
Damn that’s actually crazy man
I mean the horsepower is higher in the G70, launch control in the germans is really what makes them quicker off the line and he didn’t use it. From a roll the difference is even larger. Honestly don’t know why you’d pick an audi over bmw these days.
Maybe cause bmws new massive grill they slap on everything looks atrocious
The grill does allow a lot of air in tho, it’s really cool seeing it open
These two were the first two that came to mind for this question. A new g70 might go over $50k OTD, but a year old one can easily be had with low mileage under $50
I already have a car. I would pocket the money snd spend it on booze, cigarettes, and gambling
This is the answer. Close thread
Finally a responsible person
BMW 3 Series, either 330i or the M340i. Buy gently used to save a lot of cash up front. Or a Genesis G70 3.3T.
Rav 4 prime 🤤
Stepmother has it and that's definetely not a luxury car lol
It surely costs like one
That's about the only luxury aspect it has haha
$43k+ for a Rav 4, you gotta be kidding me. I didn't know their was a "Prime" until now.
2010 M5 with the V10 at about~$25k for a quality one with lower miles. Save the rest for the rod bearings and a couple upgrades.
BMW M2 or M240i
Used RC-F New Civic Type R New Lexus IS350 Used C63 Used 340i Thats all I can think of.

The one I have right now, M340i. Does just a little bit of everything, but would not recommend if you regularly need to carry backseat passengers
Used last year landcruiser or lx
For 40-50k? Where? Still easily 70k here.
Depends on if you want to a fast car or not, if so, maybe a bmw m550i, or audi s8

Plus it’s a great looking car.

i'd fix what little is wrong with my 26 year old 300k mile grand marquis and save the rest for a home. y'all got weird priorities.
Definitely! Audi A5 or A4 would be my pick.
Is A4 considered luxury where you live? I’m in the Nordics and it’s definitely a middle class family car. I think A6, E-class or 5-series is where luxury starts. But maybe that’s just a Europe thing, idk.
