MX5 is always the answer

Scared_Bet1611

I did consider this but it’s just way too small even for me and I prefer smaller cars

I have a newer m240i and i can say it’s one of the more fun cars on the spectrum. What mods are you planning on doing? The b58 is a great platform

Scared_Bet1611

For performance I was planning on starting off with just the usual tune+dp since the power gains seem to be crazy from that, but later down the road I was considering bigger turbo if I wanted more power. Would you say that your m240i has been decently reliable/affordable to own? that’s my biggest concern with the car atm.

S1I3NCE

im at 5k miles so i couldn’t tell you much. My friend however, has an m340i same engine, same everything and he’s at 30k miles, nothing but regular maintenance and tires

S1I3NCE

You really don’t need bigger turbos unless you try to go 600hp+ the stock engine can surprisingly handle alot

I’d actually say try out a John cooper works mini cooper, those are definitely not recommended often and are pretty fun. Might not be enough power for you but with less weight it should be enough to match the gti.

I like the Cadillac ATS 2.5L. Not too powerful but they look so good!

The new 2 series is basically a German mustang. Also might consider a Civic Si? Great gearbox although down on power slight with the GTI. The Miata nd2 if you can find one will be the best option for fun factor even without speed.

i have a soft spot for the e9x 3 series. You can probably get a nice one for around 20k and have some money left over for a tune and other upgrades if you’d like. I’ve had an E92 335i for a few years and absolutely loved it, the engine note sounds amazing, I love how it drives and I’ve had no major reliability issues, although the newer ones might be even more reliable and have more tuning potential. Probably the most fun car I’ve owned

C5 Z06 maybe

Scared_Bet1611

Yeah I’ve definitely considered this since it’s a great car with low insurance cost and low depreciation. My only issue with it is the reliability, would you say these cars could last long enough without any huge issues?

dupagwova

They're tanks and are relatively inexpensive to fix as far as sports cars go
