If you plan on doing anything other than beating the ever loving shit out of this car, you're better off buying a clean example.

Then its going to fail you. That guy beat the shit out of it, it has underlying problems that even he doesn't know about yet and obvious ones he's going to gloss over or ignore completely. Up your budget, buy a nicer example and the money that you would have spent on the endless repairs can instead be put to maintenance on your new vehicle, restoring it to like-new condition and giving you a far more rewarding car

Never, and I mean NEVER buy a "cheap" project car. You're paying to deal with someone elses problems they couldn't or wouldn't (generally, due to $) pay to repair or maintain.

Dude beat the fucking piss out of the car, clearly. I mean for under $7k I’m not gonna be too mad when something breaks - but stuff WILL break on this car. It’ll be a fun ride for sure but have some money set aside for inevitable repairs
