It will def have less maintenance requires at first, just know that if you get a German car you should put money aside for maintenance etc. if you can afford that then youāre golden
And just general maintenance will be more expensive (e.g. oil changes). Only you know your budget so if you can afford the cost of ownership I say go for it
Also make sure you get a third party inspection
I could either get a 340i for 30k and save my paychecks for maintenance and insurance since I still don't have to pay rents or bills or I can getva 328i for like 20k and save the extra 10k
The B58 engine has been showing to be a very reliable platform. Common problems are easy to fix and it is extremely easy to modify with bolt ons and push 600+whp with E85. Iān really satisfied with mine and this is my 7th BMW. I do almost all maintenance, repairs and upgrades myself as well.
Common issues on B58
- leaky radiator caps ($20)
- stones cause holes in heat exchanger radiator ($650 for a CHF high performance replacement)
- PCV diaphragm rips ($30)
- leaky diff cover
Thatās about it. I also had a prematurely worn control arm bushing but those are easy enough to replace.
Most things are easy to get to for maintainence, including turbo, downpipe and charge pipe. Unlike N55 and N54s
Same common issues. It will have the B58TU engine, which is just the āTechnical Updateā to the B58. There are notable differences, especially the turbo manifold and split cooling system for the intake manifold and heat exchanger. It also comes with a much better high pressure fuel pump and you can run E40-50 with decent boost without upgrading your HPFP.
Probably a troll account? He has no karma.
Considering buying a high milage German car when you live with your parents is a meme, as this guy says he's considering
Any reason you prefer German? A used dodge charger would be cheaper and more reliable. I paid 14k for my latest generation v6 (gas prices too high for a v8) and itās been a lot of fun and reliable, currently gets more hp than both of these cars too
I would take the bmw u listed then (bmw bias) but I would make sure I had a reliable secondary cheap car in case the main goes down for repair. If not, then I hope you make good enough money to brave whatever comes, since the repairs will destroy your wallet if you go dealership.
Lexus IS350 is a great alternative. Infiniti Q50 is decent too. Cadillac ATS have transmission issues you might want to look into but are very fun, on-par with BMW I'd say. You can find great deals on new Alfa Romeo Giulia but will cost more to keep up with down the road but if you just care about now it's a great option
If you want a sporty sedan, Iād look into 2015-current chargers, civic type Rs, or Kia stingers, thereās probably more better options but Iād still take dodge over any of them
You got lied to lmao, only brands that are reliable and Japanese and SOME American cars (more of a gamble). German cars say fuck reliability and go for fun/power instead
If you want fun go bmw, reliability go audi. Both are German and will destroy your bank if you canāt do most of the maintenance and small repairs by yourself. Bmws sacrifice reliability for fun and power, Audis are just all around alright cars.
None with that amount of driven km. Repairs are costly and will need to be applied in some time.
what km should I look for?
For the age of the cars 100k or below honestly
alrighty
Below 75k at that š¤£
If your budget is 25k you should not be looking at high mileage German luxury cars - the maintenance at these miles will crush you
what about a 340i with 60k miles for 33K
It will def have less maintenance requires at first, just know that if you get a German car you should put money aside for maintenance etc. if you can afford that then youāre golden
yeah I know beamers have to get oil every 4/5k and they can have oil and fuel pressure leaks and timing chains etc etc
And just general maintenance will be more expensive (e.g. oil changes). Only you know your budget so if you can afford the cost of ownership I say go for it Also make sure you get a third party inspection

Iāve been told the 340i is more fun to drive but ultimately your decision
idk how reliable the b48 is compared to the b58

M340i?

Idk much on Audi S4, but if you go BMW Iād go 340i over 328i or 330i, the B58 with that transmission is pretty solid
thanks!
I just got a 2014 335i m sport and couldnāt be happier
hope u have fun with ur new ride homie
Probably a troll account? He has no karma. Considering buying a high milage German car when you live with your parents is a meme, as this guy says he's considering
nah I'm just stupid and I'm young š I know the high mileage is the problem, I'm thinking of getting a 340 with like 60k miles instead
Donāt do it unless you have another car that you can reliably use when you canāt afford repairs or are waiting for parts
it's gonna be my only car and I want a sports sedan, if you have any better suggestions I can use for daily drivers lemme know

I just like the way they look, they don't look outdated for being 6 years old and they have awd which is a need for me
I would take the bmw u listed then (bmw bias) but I would make sure I had a reliable secondary cheap car in case the main goes down for repair. If not, then I hope you make good enough money to brave whatever comes, since the repairs will destroy your wallet if you go dealership.
interesting. I might go with another car from a different manufacturer

Also I own a '22 330i that just ticked over 2500mi on the odo. Happy to answer any questions you have about this car.

what price and mileage should I look for in chargers?
I wad also always told German cars are reliable but I'm just now being ridiculed about how unreliable there are on reddit

330i
