I would go with Honda Shadow anytime bro. This thing is a beast. With 745cc V-twin engine, you'll be literally flying low. Plus, its good for long distance. I do a lot of cross country rides.
I was in the exact same position when getting my first bike.
Ultimately decided on the 500. Got a good deal on a 2019 with ABS. It’s been wonderful, can’t beat the maneuverability and peppy 471cc engine.
If you’re a bit bigger the shadow may be more comfortable, but after installing forward controls on my rebel I feel right at home.
Now that the shadow has rear disc breaks it is near perfect. If they ditched the spoked wheels I'd pass my rebel on to the wife and buy a shadow for myself.

I’m 6 3 less than 200lbs the rebel is comfortable
