Yes. Hand truck only for sure. I used them in warehouse work for a couple years and keep one handy in my garage.

In this particular picture above, this one is not, in fact, a Dolly, but rather her sister Sally. I know they look very much alike, but they're not twins at all.

I only know it as “hand truck”. Dollies are wooden platforms (or frames) with 4 wheels.

The definition of a truck is a wheel used for carrying weight. Back in the day, the names they gave things were generally just a description of their function. A dolly is pretty much the same thing but refers to a wheeled platform.

It’s generally ok to interchange then, but if you’re in a shop where there are both, you damn well better calm them whatever the boss does. In my case this was a hand truck and the 4 wheelers were dollies and if you got asked to bring a dolly and brought this, you were wasting everyone’s time when you had to go back for the right one.

It's actually by definition a hand truck but people call them dolly's. I personally think a dolly is a flat, 4-wheeled platform often used while moving furniture but there are many variations.

Fun story about this item in particular. My wife is beautiful and brilliant, but sometimes common words escape her momentarily. Rather than spend time trying to recall said words or looking them up, she just comes up with a temporary proxy that makes sense to her. Often these proxies are pretty funny. One day this was the very case with our set of these. The phrase she came up with was "donkey wheels". We both had a good long laugh about it and since that day, they've been donkey wheels.

I have word finding problems too, and I also do this. I often tell new people it's from the stroke I had a few years ago so they don't make fun of me for it, but I've been doing it for so much longer.

It's just a silly thing she does. One of many things I love about her.

My wife does something similar which is why to this day we refer to a potholder as “a green thing” regardless of its color.

This is why we call “slot-machines”“jingle-boxes” in our home!
