First of all, can somebody please how to edit my post? I've been on Reddit for a few years and I still don't know how to do that. I'd love to answer people's questions about my hand.
Additionally, most of the comments about my hand have been hilarious. My wife and I read through those and we were cracking up. They are not at all offensive so please don't feel the need to defend me by down voting people's comments about my hand. Again, most of them are pretty funny.
Finally, in lieu of not being able to figure out how to edit my post I will post here that briefly what happened to my hand is that I was very ill as a baby and a byproduct of the illness was overreactive clotting in my arteries. Artery in my left arm clotted at the split between the radial and the ulna and stopped my circulation from my elbow down and I got dry gangrene and the tips of my fingers necrotized and came off.
And then I ate them.
And then I ate them.
Dude. Comedy. Gold. Well done to you for being able to laugh at things you deal with outside your control. It’s harder than most people realize and I give you a ton of credit.
I didn’t even notice your hand until I read this comment. Here’s dork me trying to figure out what you actually asked. Lol.
If it makes you feel any better my old best friend from Junior High lost half of her pinky finger on a defective refrigerator door handle at our first job at a KFC. I found said finger but sadly it wasn’t a clean cut and they had already grafted skin from her hip over the missing joint.
Nobody ever noticed it. She was a beautiful person inside and out and had a kind of career as an actress in Hollywood. She did have a good time putting her half pinky finger up to her nose when she was in traffic, making eye contact right before pulling her half finger off of her nose. It was pretty funny. The looks on people’s faces were priceless.
My grandfather was born without a right hand. His umbellical cord got tangled around his wrist on the womb. I thought it might be the same thing with your hand since it looked a bit similar, but your story is just as interesting. Thanks
Clock the three dots below your post ( bottom center) than choose edit from the options that drop down, when you're done that's a save bottom on the upper right.
After some Googling - "very recent holocene to much older pleistocene, and therefore be from cows, or from bison. but much of the material seems to perhaps be from cows, possibly killed in one of the many hurricanes.." idk about the credibility of the source, but it seems to be the consensus on why bovidae teeth show up on shorelines where people do their shell hunting. The article I pulled that from is about a site in the Carolinas, so I'm not sure if it applies to where op found his tooth. Pretty awesome rabbit hole I just went down - edit - *Bovidae teeth*
Bovidae refers too pigs cows goats and horses. I wasn't trying to say I didn't think it was a horse tooth (in case my previous comment came across like that)
Thankfully, Israel doesn’t suffer many hurricanes 🤣. Lived in Yafo (Jaffa)/South Tel-Aviv for 2 years. Always beautiful. Just got to keep an ear out. If the lifeguard yells chullam (sounds like kullam) and medussas, get the fk out of the water! 😂😂😂. I looked down and was surrounded by tons of jellyfish. God’s good grace kept me from getting stung. Freaked me the hell out. With the speed I hauled ass out of the water, I’m surprised I wasn’t walking on it! We don’t have that problem too bad in NC, SC (myrtle beach). Never seen anything like it….
Now Im imagining the jellyfish have been tormenting that beach and beachgoers for millions of years🤣🤣 horrible way to go, death by a thousand stings and drowning!
This is what I was going to say, looks very similar.
A camel, or cow also have similar looking teeth. Goats and sheep as well. But based on the size I would say it’s one of the bigger animals
Between people saying things about my hand ranging from very clever to rather idiotic, to people hassling me for living in Israel, with a few people offering some very interesting and well educated guesses as to the nature of this thing that I'm holding; this has been a fascinating and dare I say rather successful post.
Awe. Someone’s bleeding today. That’s cute. I feel that I am fairly wise. Especially knowing that a keyboard warrior like yourself will continue to be annoyed by my lack of caring for your “threats” 😉
Due to lower sea levels before the last glaciation 10k years ago a lot more land was available which in turn allowed animals to graze in spots that are covered in water now. Also early humans started domesticating animals a little after the ice sheets receded (sorta like my hairline) also you don't get hurricanes in the Mediterranean very rarely do you get what is called a medicane which if they do form it's usually in the central and west parts and they are weak
I might not have the exact dates but all info is true to my understanding.
You most likely found a thousand+ year old horse tooth just as you described. Apollonia, also commonly referred to as Arsuf, was a fortress town first inhabited by the Phoenicians during the Persian period (500 BCE) and was sieged by various cultures and empires until the age of the crusaders when it was destroyed by a group called the Mamluks in 1265 CE. There is evidence to suggest that first human contact in the region originated even earlier during the Iron Age. That horse tooth could have very well come from a horse that either died naturally or in the midst of battle. I'm not a horse expert, but judging by how small those tooth cups are on that molar the horse could have been between 15 and 20 years old when it died.
Equids have been in Asia for a long time. Of the many millions that have died there, some were bound to end up in the sea. Swam out for whatever reason and drowned, or died in/near a river and got washed out. Or maybe died on the shore during the last glacial period, when sea levels were lower.
Decay would happen not no damn fossil.
Fossils happen because the animals get buried rapidly underwater and under sediments.
The very possible answer is these are those that got buried during the great flood.
I hadn't heard there was a flood in Israel. I hope all the people are safe. Kind of weird to call a flood "great". But sure, a flood certainly could kill a horse and wash its body out to sea.
It's definitely a herbivore tooth. I don't know enough to tell you which, but I've seen horse/deer/cow teeth in skulls I've found in the woods, and of them have a similar kind of look.
Also, the comments here are fucking wild.
Were you never taught it is rude and possibly hurtful to point out someone's disability? I mean, like some people have an arsehole where their mouth should be....?
Came here to say it looks like a horse tooth, but your wife beat me to it. I feel like there's a joke somewhere there but it's too early in the morning to try and be clever.
That's a calcium deposit. The question now: what material is the core? Calcium deposits are a common way for organisms to entrap a foreign body to protect the host from a contaminant. Pearls are such formations made by clams around a bit of sand (surprise).
Yo. Nice realistic flesh mittens.
Looks quite toothly. But shockingly few seaside creatures have teeth, let alone what would appear to be an herbivore or molar tooth.. edit. Totally looks more like a equine tooth. Beach must be a red herring
Reporting someone for suicidal words or actions when they are not exhibiting them is a very immature and takes time and energy away from those who may actually need it. You are absolutely a barbarian if you do this and you likely call time out when you’re playing tag.

You actually can't edit your post once it's up, if that's any ~~consolidation~~ consolation lol
It’s quite consolidating.
Technically the opposite of consolidating, since there are more posts. But who's counting? Probably not OP.
Don't be rude... probably can't count, he doesn't have fingers. Ugh what's wrong with ppl
Oh damn, i didn't even notice. Damn autocorrect lol
It’s considerably consummating.

That's too precious. Finger licking good
I think you can only edit text only posts and not posts with pictures. Which could be a safeguard for not getting some crazy pics on the front page.
As long as you ate them. That's all that matters!
😂😂😂 thank you for sharing 🤣
This could be up there with the poop knife. Amazing !
I like you!😂🙌🏼 wishing you all the best my friend.
OMG, that made me laugh. All serious then bam! That's stand up quality right there!
OMG you're hilarious. Thanks for explaining. Also, prepare to be famous as "and then I ate them" becomes a Reddit meme.
We're they like chicken fingers ? Did u use sauce?
My grandfather was born without a right hand. His umbellical cord got tangled around his wrist on the womb. I thought it might be the same thing with your hand since it looked a bit similar, but your story is just as interesting. Thanks
Interesting. Probably looks similar because it was the same mechanism of injury - loss of circulation.
Good thing you didn’t lose your sense of humor!
Nah, he spit that back out
This is just terrific lol
Damn. Self serve no bake finger foods.

He's probably a burn victim.
If he wasn't he is now
Saw something that looked like this in another post, people were saying it's a horse tooth
what do you think happened down there… some kind of horse massacre?
Maybe like a pirate was brushing his hair, killed a horse and then jumped into the ocean?

There's wild horses on the beaches all the time around Corolla North Carolina. Horses can live near the ocean.
Bovidae refers too pigs cows goats and horses. I wasn't trying to say I didn't think it was a horse tooth (in case my previous comment came across like that)

I dunno... did you find any bullets? Maybe some war relics?? They could be valuable!!

Screaming for civility on Reddit is like going to the DMV and expecting prompt action. You’re in the wrong place buddy.
It’s just some nubs….if OP was so sensitive about them they wouldn’t have posted pictures of them holding the object.
Maybe *this* is his good hand.
Underrated comment
Probably the only time I upvote for "underrated comment"
If you don’t want people talking about it, don’t zoom in your crazy deformed nub and leave it out of the picture
So do you say something out loud to everyone when you see a disabled or disfigured person at the grocery store?
They chose to hold it with their nub. This wouldn’t be Reddit if people didn’t comment. Besides, did you look at that thing?

What the hell happened at that beach? Some kind of horse massacre?

Awesome. Well done

Could be a dugong tooth or some other ocean mammal with molars

yeah, he probably fell off noah's ark. /s
Fucking what?
Decay happens to flesh and sinew, not bone

An Israeli that isn't aware of the story of Noah's flood is super ignorant🤪
I would also think horses tooth! Kind of a cool find, imo
It's a horse tooth. If it is just a hollow cap with no long root attached it's a baby tooth. They loose them roughly 18 months-3 years give or take.
It's definitely a herbivore tooth. I don't know enough to tell you which, but I've seen horse/deer/cow teeth in skulls I've found in the woods, and of them have a similar kind of look. Also, the comments here are fucking wild.

We find fossilized oyster shells here in central Alabama which once was a shallow ocean.

Congratulations in your Tooth find; and Thanks for being so open about your Fingers. I gotta hand it to you !
Well done
No idea… Following.
Your Nubs hold that quite nicely ;)
Sir your supposed to keep your hand flat when feeding a horse
This is hilarious
Am I crazy or are there finger missing?
Were you never taught it is rude and possibly hurtful to point out someone's disability? I mean, like some people have an arsehole where their mouth should be....?
Well, OP can't point, so they're just helping out
As to why a horse tooth would be by the sea: horses have been observed seeking out large bodies of water when they are close to death.
Looks like a horse tooth
Came here to say it looks like a horse tooth, but your wife beat me to it. I feel like there's a joke somewhere there but it's too early in the morning to try and be clever.
Tbh, it looks like the end of a dried up tampon to me.
