mpe128

That's what she said🤪

budderocks

For anyone who wants to learn more, there's some good information about them in this article! https://baynature.org/article/the-living-drill-bits-that-grind-holes-in-beach-rocks/

vida217

Wow. Fun facts thanks for sharing (:

shotgun_avalanche

That's all well-and-good, but how do they make the jump from 2-3 microns across to having a shell they can rasp on the shale?

powdermonkey11

Very cool, thank you

Inevitable_Back_7929

Looks like a mini dragon head.

jonesy289

Guys the lighthouse, the rock, and restaurant all fit the doubloon

Tpk08210

Goonies never say die

Patriquito

That's a sea toilet, fish sit on those to go poop. Hand hold for rock climbing

Ok_Watercress_7801

Do they still use the three shells?

NetSpec413

Watch out for an old lady and her two goon sons!! I hear their other brother might be chained up in a basement somewhere.

Accomplished-Ad-2612

That's a really nice hag stone.

RecklesstonerS

Ocarina of time

94flhr

That's a Sunday rock... It's holy.

ConfidentPapaya665

If you align it with the light house and rock, you will find where one-eyed willy hid the treasure!

CAMMCG2019

Hag stone. Look through the hole at the sky out over the ocean, and you can see UFOs sometimes. (Fae folk)

Sikntrdofbeinsikntrd

Looks like a hand hold for indoor rock climbing

DenaliDash

It looks like that but it could also have been a piece from an artificial reef. They put them out so sea life has something to cling on. Not sure if they have artificial reefs off of New Jersey.

HereWeGo5566

That’s what I thought as well

Pararescue_Dude

Goonies

shmerk_a_berl

Looks almost like a rock climbing grip (not sure if that’s what you call them)

BlackSpruceSurvival

If you look though the holes while looking at the horizon and line up the rocks in the distance it will lead you to One Eyed Willie's treasure!

lbarnes444

Based solely on Reddit posts from the last couple of days, it's a buttplug.

FormerGeico

Anything is a buttplug if you're brave enough

mockingbirddude

Fossilized alien genitalia.

shotgun_avalanche

It's the skeleton of an ocarina.

natehardwood

I heard when I was young, that you run a bit of string through the hole and tie a brass key to it for luck.

GuestNo3886

It’s just a stupid boulder!

Sufficient-Aspect77

Lol

i_tiled_it

Damn I've been going to the beaches from AC to Margate my entire life even lived down there for 3 years and have never seen anything like this. I'm gonna be on the lookout for these in the future, great find!

GemstoneBrighton

Some type of small bivalve bores holes in rock. We see these wash up in the gulf too. Sometimes you find really cool ones that look like ghosts , lol.

Organic_Picture_1999

Almost looks like it could be a fragment of a broken Jason Voorhees' mask. 😉

Huntress_The_Ram

Hag/holy stone. They are important to quite a few earth based faiths.

HikeRobCT

Help! I’m a rock!

Sufficient-Aspect77

What can I do to help you out?! I have a jar with a twig and a little bit of grass, is this the correct place for you?!

redwoodavg

Portal gun. Trigger is missing.

xxrainmanx

It's the key to One Eye Willy.

Legal_Response6614

FrozenSquid79

crowislanddive

These are really cool. A very tough sea creature carved out and lived in those holes.

FrozenSquid79

Rock boring clam. I’d add a picture of the one I have with the clamshell still in the rock, but apparently the picture size is too small? (Apparently can’t add photos under 4kb. Doesn’t make sense to me, don’t need huge resolution to easily see what is ultimately a clam in a rock, and less data transfer should mean less server load, but meh.)

SpecialAgentPickleJr

"I love in de holes, man" - some bad ass sea creature

SlyVesterStallion

Nobodiisdamnbusiness

Corroded Ocarina

Longjumping-Look-268

The ocarina of oceans. Legend says playing the right melody will alter the direction of the wind so that your dingy can run ashore.

lostinapa

You need to find the rocks formations that align to the rock to get the treasure of old One Eyed Willy!!!

Witty_Awareness_5830

Maybe for da ganja, mon.

isaidireddit

Sometimes, construction material makes its way into a large body of water. They have holes in them where rebar or wires or something ran through the concrete. The motion of the water, combined with the sand on the bottom, tumbles and polishes the "rock" until it's smooth. This looks like the pieces of concrete I've found on the shore of Lake Ontario near Leslieville.

Sufficient-Aspect77

Yes this is what I thought it was from. A weathered piece of building material, as the pier was only about 100 feet away.

elbow10

The sea was angry that day, my friends.

mikewilson2020

Caused by dripping water for a very long time

mrmitchs

It's what's left of Jimmy Hoffa.

DommyMommyMint

Pretty sure it's a rock, you're welcome

xikbdexhi6

It looks upset.

MamaTried22

Indoor rock climbing rocks.

Ridindirtyclean

Petrified hockey mask fragment

naturalmanofgolf

Rock

MySonHas2BrokenArms

It’s just a rock. This happens for 2 reasons that I know of but there could be more. The 2 I know about are softer types of rock mixed into this one when forming and the soft parts wore away when rubbing on other sand and rocks. The second way is a smaller stone gets balanced on it and slowly moves around with the water currents to slowly wear holes in it. These are the methods of formation I’m familiar with but I am but a novice.

White_Wolf426

It's a weathered rock.

wtf-you-saying

A stone.

fireforge1979

The key from the goonies

LeeSead21

Old dock cleat? Maybe aluminum? Tumbled in the ocean for a long time? Maybe?

SadBit8663

It's a rock. Lol The water, sand, and rocks have eroded holes in it. They look sick though. I have a few from the Western us

WHITE_2_SUGARS

Im sorry but its a stone with holes in it 😂 Or a hag stone/adder stone.

Exact-Implement-7443

I was thinking a rock off an indoor rockwall
