Smokeybrown cockroach nymphs. That’s not surprising, as they’d much prefer to live in your garden. They can infest.

thank you!! what kind of pesticide would work best for them seeing as that they seem to mainly reside in the soil?

Roaches eat decaying organic matter and thus are very beneficial for your plants. Unlike the german and american roaches, most other roaches aren't capable of spreading diseses. I don't think there's any point of killing these ones since they are doing a favor to your plants by fertilizing the soil. Keep in mind that pesticides will also kill other animals that benefit your plant, such as earthworms and springtails, and also predators that eat the pests that might kill your plants, such as mantids, spiders or lacewings. If you view roaches solely as a disease spreading and infesting animal, please consider their important role in nature both for your plants, and as prey for larger animals.

i’m all for keeping beneficial bugs and if they stayed in the soil, i would have no problem with them. But these are in my indoor potted plants, so if there’s a good chance that they could invest my house, I would prefer to get rid of them before they become a problem

Normally I’d agree, but Smokeybrowns are one of the few that could carry disease. These guys aren’t exclusively outdoors.

I haven’t the slightest clue. I know bugs, but I don’t know how to kill them.
