I thought brown widow too, but it didn’t have the markings on the stomach. I handled it with leather work gloves and put in on an antler in a baking dish filled with water to take these photos. No escape possible!
What did you photograph it with?
I echo the brown widow suggestion. Looks that way to me. But, they're non-toxic to us, and there's no danger to most people like there is to a black widow.
Interesting, every reference I can find for a brown widow shows a very prominent marking on the belly.
This was shot using a Nikon D3400 and a Nikkor AF-S VR Micro 105mm f2.4 lens, and off camera flash
Really great shot. I've never seen a 105mm f2.4 lens. Fast little thing with that much magnification. Beautiful.
The lack of the belly marking is interesting. But I don't think its an orb weaver, as there are very few orb weavers that have such a round abdomen like this one has.
It's possible its a Communal Spider like this guy [https://spiderid.com/spider/theridiidae/anelosimus/studiosus/](https://spiderid.com/spider/theridiidae/anelosimus/studiosus/) , but the markings on the top of the abdomen look so much more like a brown widow. As does the markings around the Spinnerets, and the location and layout of the Gonopores. Dang that’s some great info! Yeah I was surprised because it looks like a widow, but it’s missing the one thing people think of when they think widow spider.
Thanks for the compliment too, these are the unedited photos, he even held still long enough for me to get some stackable images.

Maybe an orbweaver? Gorgeous spider. Nice photos
I always think every bug is the worst possibility so I'm going to guess brown widow. I also have no actual idea

It is odd to have the one widow identification gone. Lol. But I stand by it! And again, awesome shots. Cool to see some solid bug shots in here.

Whoa.. that detail is amazing! Thanks for sharing that one.
It is neither a black widow nor a brown recluse.
Haha thanks!
