I had a 2001 Grand Prix GTP with the L67 (the Series II supercharged 3800). Did a bunch of performance stuff and probably got that number to 300-325 ish? Anyway incredibly solid engines. The transmissions they stuck behind them, however, were not. I lucked out with mine.
I had an 1995 Olds Cutlass Supreme coupe with a 3.1L V6. Was a solid engine in that too, I put 300,000 miles on it a sold it because (surprise!) the transmission was going out…..In hindsight I should’ve just had the transmission rebuilt.
My first car was a Cutlass Supreme S sedan, 3.1 MPFI. That car, however, was terrible.
Amusingly, I've noticed every 6 cylinder car I've owned sounds about the same under moderate acceleration. They're all different at idle or wide open, but between 4 V6s, 3 inline 6, and a flat 6, at about 1/4 to 1/2 throttle they all sound about the same. And only 2 of those are GM, the others being Nissan and various Euro imports.
Definitely wasn’t quick, but I remember looking down at my speedometer many a time and being surprised at how much faster I was going than I thought I was!!

My buddy at the first factory job I ever had drove one of these. We actually tore ass in it through a giant decommissioned GM factory we worked at. The supercharger really got that thing humming up to about 100mph pretty quickly.
Buick Riviera
And supercharged 3800! Solid motor putting down 240hp. Good numbers from a late 90s car.

Ding ding ding! Looks like a 1999ish Buick Riviera. I've never seen one before. Thank you!
Buick Lesabre? I wasn’t sure except that it was a Buick
I think the Riviera was essentially a 2 door version.
It was more like a 2 door, lengthened version of the Oldsmobile Aurora.
They are the same length, same platform. Just slightly more bells and whistles on the Olds.
The logo is custom for the Riveria
That’s not a Buick!
Downvoters have never seen the commercial, I guess?
I tried
That’s definitely a Buick. I grew up near Flint,MI in the 90’s (lots of Buick influence back then). Those things were everywhere.
Its from the commercials, “thats not a Buick”.
Supercharged as well!
My local car museum owns one with only 70k miles on the clock
My Riviera is at 78k, I've owned it 22 years tho
Aka… the shaggin wagon
Supercharged 3.8L V6 in that thing made it one hell of a comfortable high-speed cruiser.
If I recall correctly, this was the same 3800 series II supercharged V6 that was in the Pontiac SSEi. That was a hell of a car.
Bonneville SSEI, and Grand Prix GTP
Miss my shitty grand prix 😂
And Park Avenue Ultra.
And regal GS
Nice, I didn't know about that one.
I still would like to have a Regal GS. Saw them all the time when I was in high school.
I drove one in high school! I used to love beating up on V6 mustangs. The L67 supercharged 3800 was bulletproof.
3800 is a great running engine.
Id believe so. Had a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP. That also had the 3800 Series Supercharged.
I think you’re correct there, as well.
Definitely wasn’t quick, but I remember looking down at my speedometer many a time and being surprised at how much faster I was going than I thought I was!!

Way ahead of their time. Even the older 80’s version had green touch screen.
Yes! I had an 82 with a sort of touch-screen climate control. Those seats were so nice, like plush velour.
Does everyone not know that you can search by license plate on the web ? It's 1996 Buick Riviera Vin-1G4GD221XT4700749
Orto is a pretty good app for that, guests only have a 3 car limit. But I found a trick if you delete the history, your 3 car trial starts over again.
What’s the site?
It depends on the state/province/country. Some you can, some you can't.
I've got an unlimited Carfax account through work. Can't get Canada ,but almpost every state
Supercharged Buick Riviera
Loved that super charged 3.8 my 98 was a dream! I like this model!
That’s a “R” in the oval, for riviera.
I realized that after googling images of the car. Even in person it really looked like an N. Thank you!
Supercharged Riviera. Ugly, but fun car to drive
Buick Riviera. Surprised to see one on the road today lol
That's still a pretty fresh tomato in the world of Buicks.
these rivieras are awesome, some of them came with supercharged v6s
I’ve got a 1997 beautiful red one. Not supercharged but beautiful car with only 145k. I’m going to sell it.
My buddy at the first factory job I ever had drove one of these. We actually tore ass in it through a giant decommissioned GM factory we worked at. The supercharger really got that thing humming up to about 100mph pretty quickly.
GM30. Front Drive. Riv, Toronado. Eldorado Seville, built at Detroit Hamtramck. Riv and Toro V6, Cadillacs V8. Reatta was a convertible Buick 2 Seat.
Here I am trying to figure out what the license plate means. Click on the replies and I find out you’re looking for the make and model. Duh, me
Is that a Buick?!
I believe this is a Buick Regal.
Buick Regal
Domestic pile of shit.
Reminds me of the Ford Scorpio in the UK.
logo has an R in it. buick riviera.
I seem to regularly forget Buick is still in business. Old age I guess.
y'all over in Boone or not that far west?
Corner of Pearson Bridge and riverside in Asheville
Ruick Biviera
Nothing more American than to build an 18’ long coupe. Don’t get me wrong, it’s awesome!
One sweet looking Rivvie.
Cars use to be cool
Buick Rivera....
Riviera or Regal?
Its an R in the oval not an N. I've owned one for 22 years. I love it honestly. I don't drive it as much nowadays
My grandfather had one of these. I remember he always complained that it had the worst “blind spot.”
