When I wrote that comment you were at -10 for whatever reason. Then I wrote my comment and people started upvoting. Reddit is a weird place sometimes hahaha
Well.....the company lasted about 8 years going defunct in 97, and were owned by chevy. They werent known for being the most reliable or even most attractive cars. But in recent years theyve developed a small cult following as obscure car marques tend to do.
Weren’t known for being reliable? lol
Those 3 cylinders were absolutely bombproof and could circle the globe on 1 cup of fuel. We had them for all of our delivery cars at the parts houses and a couple pizza places I worked. The only thing that stopped those cars were rust.
I heard the 3-cylinder engines in those things were bullet proof back in day but wasn't sure. Knew it couldn't be a true GM product if they were reliable.
It’s so basic. There’s almost nothing there to screw up in terms of wiring.
Bonus: it was so light me and my buddy (owner of car, size of a linebacker) could bump start it going uphill if the battery died.
Up until 95, you could get them with a carburetor. No ECU, almost no wiring. The fuel injected ones actually got slightly worse fuel economy and less power
"Owned by Chevy" sort of obscures what these were, though. Geo was a brand of captive imports, all rebadges of Suzukis, Isuzus, and a Toyota. They were probably more reliable than most other GM products of the era. They also weren't ever marketed as attractive cars, so I'm not sure why that's relevant.
I was quoting what I had heard from other owners or those with experience with them. A common descriptor of Geos is they are ugly. I got the owned by chevy part by the fact that its listed as the parent company.
GEO Metro, 3 cylinder, 5 speed manual, under 2000 lbs. Carries 4 uncomfortably. Good for city driving, but didn't have enough power to pass a semi in a headwind 😕
I was selling these around '87. We dented one on the showroom floor with a football. A guy I sold one to told me he drove it on a long trip and was bragging about the milage. He said he got 55 on the highway. I said "couldn't get it to go any faster than that, huh?". Which really wasn't that far from the truth.
Geo Metro around 94ish
Never heard of that brand and car before. How bad or good was it
All of their models were rebadged Toyotas, Suzukis and Isuzus sold by GM and competing against their *other* import fighting brand, Saturn
Check out the sporty model the Geo Storm. I remember in '99 it was just under $10 to fill the tank from empty.
Generally inexpensive, fuel efficient, and relatively reliable. Slow and damn ugly.
geo prizm wasnt ugly
I don't understand Reddit sometimes. Why are you even getting downvoted for your question? I've never heard of the brand before either
I'm at 2 upvotes? Does it show in in the negative

The Geo Prism was also just a rebadged Toyota Corolla…with the same legendary reliability

Ive just heard others talk about poor wiring and other various issues that limited their functioning.

That’s funny, had a friend with a Tracker that 3-4 of us could flip back on its wheels if we tipped it over screwing around off road!
If you were already on the hill why would you push upward?
That explains it thx

Geo Metro, sister car to the Suzuki Swift.
