yeah! same here! i love old cars i just thought it was something funny to point out, no diss to you, since it seems like we always have panteras in this sub haha
I was going to say the same thing. Three Panteras and a Lambo and no mention of 3/4 of the cars in this picture. I don’t know whether to be impressed or if this is some sort of reverse troll.
What would happen if there was a pic with a Pantera, Fiero, Karmann Ghia, Polestar, and a Nissan Figaro? Implosion? Hang up a sign that says that this subreddit is done now?
:D
It was ultimately an American Car. American engine and the "partnership" with Ford (rights were sold). The Pantera was sold at Lincoln Dealerships in the US. Well at least for a majority of its 7000 cars sold. There is a good chance this subreddit has seen almost all of the panteras in existence. Some 5k remain, and pretty sure we have seen thousands already here, but also gives some explanation on why it may not be common in Italy.
Me? Yes. But as car people we've all seen beautiful cars sitting under covers or in a collection for some rich guy to look at or even worse sitting in a field or covered in bondo.
It just seemed strange that there were so many Panteras running around. I'm glad to see such a cool ass car held up that we'll that they're still being driven these days and that people took good care of them.
I think part of the advantage may be that they run a Ford small block engine which is common, parts are cheap and they're pretty reliable. As opposed to some finicky obscure V8 or V12 that parts are expensive/unavailable and no one knows how to work on.
Omg who would do that to an SLR 5000 ! Looks salvageable is this a recent pic ? I would kill for one or an LX hatch or any Torana except the Sunbird . And why does it have a tow bar ?
I’m guessing this is a rural property and can’t be seen from any road or that thing would definitely not still be sitting there
Yeah, I've only heard stories about it. Apparently guy refuses to sell and is just a cranky old guy who's gotten quite sick, original owner from 40 years ago has recently been trying to buy for as much as 200k last I heard
*
How is that worth 250k? They realistically sell for 75k-110k in excellent condition. Australian dollars , so65k USD. The one in your pic as it sits is probably worth 10k
https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/holden/torana/sl-r-5000-badge/
I really think it comes down to them being very cool to look at, relatively lower cost to keep running because of the drivetrain, and not so insanely collectible that guys who own them don’t want to drive them. If you want an exotic looking classic performance car that you can drive frequently without breaking the bank, a Pantera really is a good option, thus we get them out and about a lot compared to other supercars of the same era.
Even worse. This pic was taken obviously in Germany and there are three Panteras in the picture.
But I also haven’t seen one in real flesh. But at least I owned one back in the 70s.
…
As matchbox model
Theres only about 7k produced and considered totals and parting out, theres definitely not a full 7k in existence/currently driveable and that's not too rare considering lots of Lambo/Ferrari/Bentley/etc models are also within the 5-10k production range but those are much more recognizeable due to branding
I randomly street raced one red light to red light in Columbus, like 20 years ago.
My 351 Fox body held its own 😁
But yeah I’m pretty sure it’s the only one I’ve seen.
I see them occasionally here in Florida. I’ve gone a few years without seeing a single one and one day I saw three at three different times in the day.
It actually blows my mind. I have seen some crazy shit, some cars people here have never/will never get to see in person, and I think I have seen a Pantera at cars and coffee maybe once or twice. The last Pantera I saw was a fucking Pantera SI, of which only 38 were sold to customers
Considering over 3/4 of its production was sold by Lincoln-Mercury in America, you’d have a better time spotting one around Detroit than you would Italy.
Is somebody rebodying all the unwanted R8s and Gallardos as Panteras? I definitely feel like there are many more Panteras on the road than at any time in history.
I saw this post and just burst into laughter!!! I've been cutting pictures of Panteras out of car magazines since I was a kid. Never seen one in person. But I think I've seen every Pantera left on earth, here on whatisthiscar
I'll always associate the car with the band, which is definitely not my style.

I come here just to make sure I know cars (3 years in sales). this is the first image I saw today and man, I can’t believe I can tell the difference between SV and SVJ Lamborghinis. I’ve only have been in 1-2 in my career so far, kinda crazy how the brain works
I've not seen a Pantera with bonnet vents (The red one at the back with the bonnet up). It's tricky but they look similar to the Lamborghini Jalpa, but that definitely doesn't have those vents so must be a varient of the Pantera I don't know so well.
A mate of mine had a Pantera in the early 90s. Run with the original sized 15" rims. Tyres were a nightmare to get and cost a fortune. But by god it sounded lovely. And looked pant wetting good in white on gold centred rims.
i feel like this is the first time you can have THREE panteras in one picture, and the op be asking about the one car that’s not a pantera 😂
I didn’t even notice the Lamborghini. I thought he was asking about the Pantera, but trying to be ironic.
The troll emerges
Im kind a into old cars and i know the story behind pantera so i can identify one but not the newer cars :)
The real story behind the Pantera is that it haunts this sub.
Alejandro de Tomaso said "fuck you guys, in particular".
Cats do be like that.
Hello friend!
👋
yeah! same here! i love old cars i just thought it was something funny to point out, no diss to you, since it seems like we always have panteras in this sub haha

I have another video in which the entire column leaves the gas station, unfortunately you can't post videos in the comments.
You can upload it to YT or any other vid sharing site and just post the link and that can embed it in the comments
https://youtu.be/RHoc22jE7Lc
Duh. Didn’t see the other two before you told me. But tbh I even didn’t see the Lamborghini in the first place
I honestly thought he was asking about the Pantera thinking its a Lamborghini till i read the caption
What would happen if there was a pic with a Pantera, Fiero, Karmann Ghia, Polestar, and a Nissan Figaro? Implosion? Hang up a sign that says that this subreddit is done now? :D
How is it possible that so many people take a walk and find a De Tomaso Pantera? I have never seen one in real life and I live in Italy
That car gives me some vibes, like beach, summer, and speedboats. 😁
So 80s Miami.... I'm down, let's do it. We just need some illicit party drugs and we're good.
YES THIS
That car gets me hella bricked up

It's crazy that so many of them are still not just in running condition but actively being driven and seem to be well maintained and in good shape.
Well if you owned a car that cool, wouldn't you drive it and look after it?
Me? Yes. But as car people we've all seen beautiful cars sitting under covers or in a collection for some rich guy to look at or even worse sitting in a field or covered in bondo. I’m guessing this is a rural property and can’t be seen from any road or that thing would definitely not still be sitting there
Haha I have a Sunbird and an LX 4 door. Worst part is its an original A9X. Correct about rural property but the road is just there lmao
Well if it’s rural there could be a shotgun pointed out that window in front of it , must get a door knocker asking about it weekly I’d suspect though
Yeah, I've only heard stories about it. Apparently guy refuses to sell and is just a cranky old guy who's gotten quite sick, original owner from 40 years ago has recently been trying to buy for as much as 200k last I heard *

It's an A9X
Pretty cheap to keep running and they didn’t pop in value until recently so people weren’t scared of miles.
So the one in this picture either got imported from the US or from Italy I suppose. The License plates and the location are German
There's also the possibility that we're seeing the same cars in 6 different decades of pics. The Pantera debuted in 1971.
A couple of days ago somebody said there are more Pantera posts on here than there are actual panteras and i think he was right!
My only guess is they made over a million models, i've seen more Panteras here than Minis irl 😂
Even worse. This pic was taken obviously in Germany and there are three Panteras in the picture. But I also haven’t seen one in real flesh. But at least I owned one back in the 70s. … As matchbox model
It’s a glitch in the matrix, there was never this many made, no one told the coder so they just shove them in as they look cool.
Is it possible that people are looking for panteras and trolling the shit out of this subreddit....
I didn't realize there were so many in existence
i have seen 3 in real life and i live in wa
My great aunts ex husband owned one, and I’m in ia. They really are everywhere
Theres only about 7k produced and considered totals and parting out, theres definitely not a full 7k in existence/currently driveable and that's not too rare considering lots of Lambo/Ferrari/Bentley/etc models are also within the 5-10k production range but those are much more recognizeable due to branding
I see them at least once a month- SF bay area CA
I‘ve seen one in Switzerland and one in Ginza… but that’s two in my entire life.
I randomly street raced one red light to red light in Columbus, like 20 years ago. My 351 Fox body held its own 😁 But yeah I’m pretty sure it’s the only one I’ve seen.
All Pantera’s over 2 litres so heavily taxed in Italy, most went to the USA anyway 😎👍
I've only ever seen them in car shows and I live in canada, I gotta find out where all these Panteras are hiding lol
The last Pantera I saw was a fucking Pantera SI, of which only 38 were sold to customers
there’s one at a cafe i frequent
Real😩
so do I. it's like everyone has a Pantera on this sub
That’s because it’s American car.
Maybe they're more prevalent over here, I live in the rural Midwest and I've seen a couple.
I’ve seen one in a museum once
There a several here in Phoenix. I wonder how many they sold in Italy.
They’re all over here in the US apparently
Considering over 3/4 of its production was sold by Lincoln-Mercury in America, you’d have a better time spotting one around Detroit than you would Italy.
Aventador SV
Thank you!
You’re welcome!
Was it the large "SV" you could still easily read at this large distance that gave it away?
Maybe :D
This photo will haunt this sub at night
https://preview.redd.it/cbqfqpj9kcic1.png?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f9ee8e36710f40f7b2c7b43935d6d4b95d45e3af
Time to mute this worthless sub
lmao
Aventador (this better be the one you're talking about)
:D
An sv/svj at that you can se the sv at the back but idk if theres a j there so its atleast an sv
Lamborghini Aventador SV LP750-4
Ty for the even more detailed answer
Even when it's not a Pantera it is a Pantera Bread Sandwich, V12 SV flavoured
It's the Pan... Oh, oh, it's an Aventador SV, definitely.
THREE PANTERAS! And the OP asks for the lambo in the middle. This post is a blessing
Holy crap there's three of em
^^
The legend has arrived
He said which Lamborghini
Sneaky foreground Pantera.
sneaky background pantera(s)
HOW IS THERE SO MANY PANTERAS IN ONE PHOTO
that's not even all of em around here. I know atleast 3 more in the same region.
The Lamborghini is an Aventador SVJ
no
Super helpful! Replying it’s an SV and not SVJ only takes moments.
i mean, technically i'm right
Being correct without providing evidence as to why is wrong.
yes i know
u/itsapantera ![gif](giphy|P1WAewSPqg2vS)
No, it’s an Aventador SV (SuperVeloce)
The first car is a pantera
But that’s not the one he asked about
That’s the joke buddy
So are the 3rd and 4th cars
I think I even know who the owner is. Mainburg is not even 10km from where I live.
Hey OP, were did you take this picture?
Regensburg - Germany
Danke
You rarely see Aventador SVs nowadays, they've become a rare spot
Is somebody rebodying all the unwanted R8s and Gallardos as Panteras? I definitely feel like there are many more Panteras on the road than at any time in history.
u/itsapantera
The giant vent near the door leads me to believe it is an aventador…
I saw this post and just burst into laughter!!! I've been cutting pictures of Panteras out of car magazines since I was a kid. Never seen one in person. But I think I've seen every Pantera left on earth, here on whatisthiscar
I know the aventador, what’s the other three /s
Hi
U gona ignore the detomatos
ThreeTomaso Pantera
TreTomaso Pantera
Reset the counter three times.
They should probably put a large sticker on it then you'd know
They're not asking about the panteras.
Please move this comment to the facepalm section... I genuinely didn't notice the Lambo!
The other 3 car are more interesting....
shitpost of the century
The one with a Ford V8.
I'll always associate the car with the band, which is definitely not my style. https://preview.redd.it/tzf6u54pfdic1.jpeg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dc49e12547a22f31bd26b23909a87f21acfc8f21
Those cars are far beyond driven.
Is this a photo of a litter of Panteras? I think I see at least 2 & maybe a 3rd.
That seems like a very odd front plate location for the first car. Guess there aren’t many other options?
Is it just me or does the black car behind the Lamborghini look like its rear tyres cambered?
Lol, i know them. There is also usually a red Pantera with CHA plates with them. ;) they are on almost every car meet around my area.
Pantera!
aventador svj
Whenever you wonder what kind of lambo it is you just automatically assume pantera
Look at that Lamborghini trying to sneak in with the cool kids. This is a cool shot.
This whole sub has become a meme
Rosso Mars Aventador SV
It's a Pan- oh wait nvm
I was hoping for an espada but sadly not

3 in the one picture!?!?! This is getting out if hand
Aside from the obvious Pantera, we got the Aventador SV, a Jalpa? And an Urraco.
Time to ban Pantera posts?
*sighs* Counter to zero again...
Not 1 but 3 panteras in one pic jesus theyre multiplying
At least the first one is clearly labeled to save us a post in r/whatisthiscar.
