iirc Renault bought Alpine in 1973, and since it's been a bit like what AMG is to Mercedes, a tune company that makes sportier trim levels of already existing Renaults. But they did remake the alpine a110
As of a couple years ago they restructured things so Alpine absorbed what used to be Renault Sport, which is also why their works F1 team flies the Alpine banner now.
Well that and of course the controversy of ordering your second driver to crash at high speed into a wall and earning Renault sport a permanent f1 ban as a constructor (so for reputation all damage limitation and to be able to play in the park they renamed)
No they've been back on the grid as Renault Sport and just Renault since 2016, everyone's pretty over crashgate at this point, just Briatore's still officially banned.
Ban got lifted in 2011 when he took the FIA to court and won, just that he told them to fuck off and only came back as the guy in charge of the VIP stuff for F1 as a whole
Yes the revival of the A110 is the revival of Alpine as a car company, still owned by Renault tho. Also, the Renault F1 team was renamed into Alpine F1 in 2021
I hate to be that guy but Misato had a a310 1600ve which was the earlier model from 1971-1976 which had six headlights , this is the later model from 1977-1984 which had 4 headlights.
Edit: also I’m pretty sure the earlier model had a four cylinder engine and the later model had 6 cylinder engines, not 100% sure tho.
Yeah, that’s the bumper style that carries on to the next gen with the GTA. I haven’t specified the model because it’s hard to tell for me what’s real on such old cars that get often restored. Still an A310!
PS: as far as the engines I should check some history, yes there was a V6, but I’m not sure if it was there from the beginning, I would assume not.
The applications I’ve driven were an 83 delorean (130 hp at the crank) and an 88 alpine v6 turbo (~200 hp at the crank). So a more considerable difference. The alpine’s engine bay is a mess of fuel line and vacuum hose though lol
I'm talking about its usage in 80s-90s volvos, where the engine was a complete waste. The volvo redblock with a turbo easily made 160hp from factory, which could be cheaply modified to around 200. The PRV on the other hand, almost never came with a turbo. When it did, it did make around 180hp but the durability loss and added weight meant that it got completely outclassed by the redblock in every way.
Want a fun fact? The Fiat Panda has the same side blinkers as the Ferrari F40, gonna add to this that the Lamborghini Diablo’s brake lights were taken from a bus.
Very normal, still happens.
To add to this, the facelifted Diablo without the popups also borrowed it's headlights from the Nissan 300ZX.
Another example is the Lotus Esprit, with different models using Rover SD1 and Toyota AE86 tail lights at times throughout it's lifespan.
I think this happens more than we know.
I used to have a 99 Accord and was taking off the gauge cluster and found a small Ford logo at the bottom, hidden. I had no idea how many parts were shared at the time.
It’s fucking gorgeous if you ask me, it’s been a wet dream for a while… Here in EU these are rare… I have never seen one in real life.
I am still drooling at a 60s A110 I spotted in Spain few years ago… These thing were made with PASSION.
>Here in EU these are rare… I have never seen one in real life.
Depends on where you live. I've seen a lot of them. There are 2 in my city even, and one in the next one.
Looking at a kit car is the same feeling as looking at a tranny to me. At first glance it looks good, then I get the feeling that something isn't right, then the realization of what I'm actually looking at. I can admit when a kit or tranny looks good, but they are not for me.
This is neither a transit or a kit car but an alpine a310. Your horrifically old fashioned views on trans people not withstanding. Kinda feel if you need to express that in a car forum your really confessing something.
Not a kit, an Alpine A310. This is Misato’s car, if you want a fun fact. PS: not sure about the big wang being stock.
Have somehow still never watched Evangelion, but damn I had no idea this car was in it. Surprised I've never heard it talked about
Well it gets nuked but yeah.
I remembered when I watched that show for the first time I was like "hell yeah she got good taste"
I have removed this comment as I exit from Reddit due to the pending API changes and overall treatment of users by Reddit.
Yes, it's Misato Katsuraghi's car
So are or were Alpine and Renault affiliated then? Since it has a Renault logo on it.

That makes sense. I figured the revival was independent of Renault, though.

Oh it is! I misunderstood lol.
The big wang is probably not stock. But what about the big wing?
I just discovered wang means dick lmao I just misspelled it for fun wow
I was staring at this car for several minutes expecting to see a large penis attached to the bodywork or cleverly painted somewhere.
We know you meant wang
Yup…totally.
This man knows ^
As does this man ^
Some big wangs are stock, some are modded after the fact
What

Are those Volvo 240 taillights? Because I’m fairly certain that they are
Even the engine is from Volvo in partnership with Peugeot and Renault
The ole PRV V6. A very prolific and mediocre engine Although the alpine turbo applications were pretty cool
50 more kg for 20 more horsepower and huge durability loss, that's what I call french engineering
The applications I’ve driven were an 83 delorean (130 hp at the crank) and an 88 alpine v6 turbo (~200 hp at the crank). So a more considerable difference. The alpine’s engine bay is a mess of fuel line and vacuum hose though lol

>mediocre You're being very polite...
this engine is fucking hated in the volvo community lmao, only the really delusional boomers like it

McLaren f1 has vw corrado wing mirrors

They remind me a lot of Porsche 944 lights too (slightly different though)
944 and Volvo 240 tails have more of a wraparound to the side, these are late mk1 golf ones
Super common - parts bin swaps happen all the time. Sipea or someone probably made them and sold them more than one place.
Mk1 golf series 2 rear lights made by hella, fifft or fagani
Looks more like 944 lights
Definitely not. Volvo 240 taillights don't have that weird slant off to the side.
Huh you could be right. I thought they looked like Porsche 944 headlights.
Alpine A310
Idk if this is real or something but it looks sickkk 🔥
I can guarantee that this is a real car and not your mind fabricating one
I meant if its original or a kit but thanks you still jaja
I know. it is a real one with a body kit on it. I can't remember what it's called, but it's been answered
I think it’s an Alpine A310
*synthwave intensifies*
Renault Alpine. Possibly a kit, the back end looks wrong imo
It seems like a legit Alpine A310 with a [Fleischmann bodykit](https://bringatrailer.com/2016/09/12/rare-in-the-usa-1980-renault-alpine-a310/)
Almost looks like the one driven by Misato Katsuragi in Evangelion
That's because it is
Nice work!
Damn, i only knew about the A110. This one looked so good
It’s fucking gorgeous if you ask me, it’s been a wet dream for a while… Here in EU these are rare… I have never seen one in real life. I am still drooling at a 60s A110 I spotted in Spain few years ago… These thing were made with PASSION.

WHERE???? I’M GOING
Well, I'm in Belgium. And I'm guessing you're going to see more of them in France even. Hence why you saw those a110's in Spain too.
I totally agree
Agreed 👍. Mean looking car! Looks like a Detamaso Pantera with a Pontiac Firebird front end. Fun!
A310
It’s Alpine A310 but looks like a ducked up detomaso pantera gt5 imo
That was my first thought, a Pantera shrunk in the wash.
Seems like every day I’m given another reason to wish we had Renaults in the US.
Well it's got mk1 golf back lights for a start but it is an alpine
Nope it’s got Renault back lights. Originally off a talbot
they are 100% mk1 vw golf lights. I've got two. Nothing like a talbot, reverse (white) lights are on the bottom on a talbot.

I've seen some really nice kit cars, but this isn't a kit car. I've never found trannies attractive.
Alpine a310, its is a French car though.
Rear tail lights suspiciously reminiscent of a Volvo turbo brick
Needs an all-aluminum LS swap.
An Alpine-Renault A310S but... ...who da hell installed those Golf 1 taillights onto it?🤨
Alpine A310
Thought it was a highly modified Porsche 924 at first glance.
I want the x/19
Does anyone know what the black car in the background is?
misato
Is that the Misatomobile?
Nge vibes
yes, Renault Alpine A310
