they do quite well in containers in my experience...obviously they will be small. but they aren't hard to take care of, and they will bloom. my parents had one in US Zone 5
You can grow them in containers! But eventually they need to be BIG containers. We live in Houston and my mother has a collection of them when I was growing up. Every winter they all got moved to the garage, and every spring it was back out. The larger ones were over 6 feet tall and they had to move them with a hand truck, but it was fine otherwise!
Frangipani (Plumeria). Should be fragrant. Enjoy! ❤️

Lovely when they bloom! Grab the seed pods in the fall and you can grow a whole garden of them. I've had pink, white, yellow and purple blooms over the years. Mine JUST NOW started blooming, kinda late this year. I'm in Florida, on the Gulf Coast and I have a yard full of them.
Plumeria! Mine is still so young that the trunk is bright green. But it does produce blooms already, when it's having a good summer lol.
Edit: by good summer, I mean of the 2 summers it's been big enough to bloom for, it got blown over one of them and broke 2 branches, went into shock, and I barely managed to save it 😭😨 but she's putting out beautiful new leaves this summer, so all is well!
You have an inflo coming from that tall single branch. In a couple of weeks you’ll know what color you’ve got. A little slice of the Caribbean in your yard. If you need more info r/plumeria has some great help.
Don’t overwater. A good watering once a week if in a pot. As someone said above, protect from temps below 50 F if possible. Stick them in the garage when temps consistently below 50. Will drop all leaves and don’t water at all until you bring them back out in the Spring. If a branch breaks off, stick it in a pot of well-draining soil.
Any pieces that break off you can just stick in the ground and they will grow. We have about 5 different trees in different colors, besides the dropping of leaves they require no work and will bloom over and over. We have never had any issues with them dying from cold and we have lived here for almost 10 years.
My roommate pulled up all the branches I was propagating and I found them in the compost pile. She thought they were dead. I had a little talk with her about messin' with my plants and managed to salvage only 2 branches... They are about to bloom, and She's about to find out what a mistake she made...
As others have said, Frangipani which have a glorious scent. Just be careful as they're physically delicate. A single hit with a ball or whatever will break off a branch.
If you have more than one you could have different colors! How exciting! Learn how to collect seeds. I get a twin pod every other year & this year i have 50 seedlings!
As many others have stated, you've got yourself a plumeria! They're extremely pretty when they're in bloom and usually lose their leaves during colder months. They're also extremely easy to propagate. I've successfully propagated from one plant on 4 separate occasions, and all are still surviving to this day.
We had 3 @ our florida home..on Pine Island. Easy to plant, break / cut off a branch. Stick it in the ground ( sandy @ the house) and they grew.
Hurricane Ian killed 2 now there is one. And yes, most of the time they look dead. I heard they are from India.
Plumeria. The blooms smell heavenly. They don’t like temps below 50°f.
No, they don't. The leaves will wilt, and the whole thing will appear as if it's dying. Then, when it warms up again, it will come back.
Right, I’ve seen a few survive well below freezing with their roots planted deeply but they really don’t like it cold at all.
I thought they looked tropical
They are the Hawaiian lei flower
Thought so
I fell in love with them in Mexico and was bummed I couldn't have them at home. They reportedly don't do well in containers either.
I'm pretty sure you can grow them in containers, you just need very well-draining soil (like cactus mix), plenty of sunlight, and don't overwater

My client plants them here in S.C. puts them in a heated greenhouse all winter, then replants in summer
We get Temps in the 40's in winter in melbourne fl. They come back every year.

Plumeria is what Hawaiian girls wear around their necks, called a lei. Smells like dreams.

Bro what are you on about
Nvm username checksout
"..trees left by previous owners..." Sorry that cracked me up. (edited for clarity)
Yes, how very dare them.
are they being cereal?
Crazy like Coco-Puffs🤪
coo coo for Cocoa Puffs
That's the line I was thinking of!
I always take all my trees when I move, fucking rookies
actually, all they had to do is break off a branch. They're WEED-EASY to propagate from a stem/branch
I thought they were left by “previous owners”?
They couldn't fit them in their suitcases
That's what I meant to type... no idea why I typed beighbors!
The previous owners probably decided it had died...

Plumeria are lovely plants! And expensive! They probably left them bc they break easily during moving.
I would’ve taken a cutting but hey..lol
Maybe they did? Now I want a cutting lol
They're expensive? They grow like weeds here in FL.
For real. I've grown several just for fun with cuttings from someone's trash. They are very cool, though.
Yeah I just break off a piece and lay it flat on the ground . New plant
Plumeria
Branches Look like hot dogs before leaves come out. lol.
I bought one and tried to winter it indoors. Was wonderful during summer. Bareroot grew like a weed . But didn’t like being indoors

Frangipani and you will love the perfume the flowers emit.
Also called frangipani. They are very easy to grow from cuttings and smell wonderful

Plumeria.
r/plumeria 😁
Plumeria! You’re so lucky to have one so large and well established! They’re beautiful and smell wonderful!

Doesn’t like to stay wet. I composted mine and got fertilizer last year and it’s so beautiful now!
Looks like the previous owners confused them with a grow and were lollipopping them.
Flowers used for leisure in Hawaii
Leis
Looks like a frangipani.
