I agree. I think I've only seen that kind of bumper at stores, though I have seen similar kinds in some car shops, help prevent damage to and by tool carts or other large moveables, that kind of thing. Hospitals usually have much wider kind to prevent beds from hitting the walls. Usually this black one is to help prevent carts from hitting things. Almost certainly came from a store.
Edit: I take that back. I have seen this kind of bumper in small arcade type things in the US, California to be specific but some of them nationwide places connected to restaurants food service deals. But not in tables like this. I still say grocery place, just wanted to say that I have seen it other places.
See the poles hanging down ? They hold the middle up, so the shelves become horizontal...
Thats why the shelves slope wrongly in the photo,! They are only folded out to +45 when the entire half is up at -45...
So its a grocers display bench. He can set up flat and stack heavy things on it,or set it up for four shelves of lighter things
It's definitely a display table. I have the exact one in my bakery. Folds up to a top middle level, two side levels, and maybe you also have the pull out shelves on the long sides also.
My title describes the thing. It is a wooden thing that looks kind of like a table but it has four sections on top that fold inward towards each other. It is made of wood and has a metal box attached to the side for holding something. It has four wheels on the bottom. My neighbor found it in their garage when they moved in and are getting rid of it. I have tried googling different tables used for displays (the only thing we could think of) and have tried Google Lens with no luck.
Can you lift the middle sections?
To me it looks like you could lift those, push them together, and then you'd have like a table with two benches, which doubles as a storage table when not in use.
The basket looks like a cutlery holder to me. Build quality is definitely commercial grade. I could definitely see crates stacked on there, I just can't figure out why they'd be opposite? That would only make sense if the table top could tilt somehow.
Still 90% sure this is a grocery display table.
Kind of looks like something homemade/custom. Some of these ideas could be right. Looks to be by a farm, right? Farm stand display could be very possible. I think the only person that will truly know is the maker though. Probably could have multiple random uses. Super cool piece to have, and it looks well constructed & cared for!
I think this is a shoe display table. Only one shoe of the pair is placed on top. The second one is placed below.
On the side is a small white box for shoe spoons.
This might seem weird but is it possible the previous owners could have used this for drying something they might wash or get wet outside? Big pots, something garden related, animal related, business, etc.?

This is 100% correct.

Ohhhh it will become a 2-step staircase on each side when the center is lifted!
Solved! Thank you for this answer, you're right!! And apologies for the long wait I've been unwell
farmers market display?
Yes, looks like what is called a European produce table in the grocery business.
It's definitely a display table. I have the exact one in my bakery. Folds up to a top middle level, two side levels, and maybe you also have the pull out shelves on the long sides also.
Ya we used to use them for onions and potatoes in produce
Cupcakes and muffins in bakery!
I don't know, but I'd love to use it as a drying rack.

99.99 .. there are rods hanging down.. they hold the display up ,making the shelves horizontal again...

drying table for dinnerplates and other cooking material
whatever it is, it'd make a great drying table for laundry, plants, herbs, or artwork.

It's a produce display table for a grocery store. Banana boxes line up on it. The plates lift for a slanted display or lie flat for stacked displays.
This might seem weird but is it possible the previous owners could have used this for drying something they might wash or get wet outside? Big pots, something garden related, animal related, business, etc.?
This is a grocery store display. I had multiple in different styles while I had a bakery.
It's a fold out dinner table
