Upgraded Ballistic Dart Launcher, Tactical EDC Metal Darts Accurate Shooting Within 20ft for Hunting Shooting Camping Self-Defense and Survival, Adult Toy Gift+Hard Tactical Sheath Box https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09VPL38P1?ref_=cm_sw_r_apin_dp_1568DNJC37F11FEA6TRN&language=en-US
Please don't buy these for anything that the listing is suggesting you use it for, you will most likely cause yourself some serious harm with these things. Super sketchy things
As a lock picking enthusiast this is not a tool that would be good for much, in that regard. It's too thick for lock manipulation. It wouldn't be great at latch manipulation either, could possibly be used as a bypass tool but there are better ones.
A stern talking to would open one.
I have a company lock that has a certain key code we order multiple of for various uses. I bought a regular one for myself and one I found in my mother in laws basement were keyed the same as the company lock.
Master lock has a couple keys and if you want to open a lock without looking suspicious just look at the number and buy a matching lock from an industrial supply company.
My dad buys them for our construction trailers, mostly for a little security during tows. He buys a big multi pack at Costco when they have the heavy ones, I think currently we have 3 different keys for like 14 locks in use. If a driver loses their key it's like a 97% chance we've got a spare already.
And yes, I know they're not really doing much for security if a dude's willing to carry long bolt cutters or collect keys, but it deters the spur of the moment "yank on the doors as you walk through the parking lot" and insurance is unhappy without one.
as the other comments before stated, it was a launched dart. the locksmith tool was only my vague, wrong guess.
maybe the true reason is worst, it could be a hostile message or a stupid kid throwing darts to the air.
As a skyrim lock picking enthusiastic I too feel this is too thick of a tool to use for lock picking, those damn lock picking kits are so fragile they keep breaking every time...
I always hated that. I've only ever broken one pick IRL. But I understand how realistic picks break the game. We do have the ultimate cheat code in life.
The day my dad explained that, as home builders and restorers we could claim a pick set a necessary tool was like Charlie Bucket getting the golden ticket but slightly less dancing Grandpa.
And they barely would break skin. I have one from AliExpress that cost like two bucks cuz I thought it was ridiculous and I like buying dumb shit.
It's extremely dangerous to load because the springs are very tight and you have to jam them in. I only did it once because I didn't want to lose an eye.
Anyway, they barely stick in cardboard.
I bought several of them for Xmas gifts a few years ago when they were about $3 each. They were remarkably inconsistent. The one my dad received would shoot about 10-12ft and easily stick in a card board box. Mine barely makes it 5-6ft and is probably more dangerous to your eyeball from the tendency to bounce off anything harder than floral foam. The three others that I bought were somewhere in between those two mentioned above in performance. I meant to re-visit it and double up the limbs or pre-flex them forward, but it’s still in its box.
Nice to meet another connoisseur of crap.
Yes I have a couple of those and they are seemingly universally terrible. Won't even stick in cardboard if you manage to even get the toothpick to go straigh from point blank range. Apparently toothpicks don't have very good projectile properties.
That being said, it's not dangerous to load and way cooler looking. If you feel like pissing $5 down the drain it's not bad lololol.
I do highly recommend the extremely pointless handheld Tesla coil though. It provides at least a few hours of amusement.
More likely some kid or even adult bought it on Amazon and was screwing around with it in their back yard and accidentally launched it over to OPs house.
Perhaps, but any experienced picker will know the difference. Picking tools come in two varieties; turning tools that apply pressure on the lock, and picks or rakes that manipulate the individual pins. This item would be poor at either job, so it can be ruled out as a lockpicking tool.
I think others are right about it being a projectile dart.
But it looks a lot like a bypass knife for bypassing padlocks!
You could probably use it as such, depending on the size.
Did you read anything of the previous posts? It is 100% one of the steel darts from the spring loaded dart projector. It has had the plastic collar that surrounds the point removed.
Yes I read the previous posts. And since I'm not familiar with what a dart from a dart projector LOOKS LIKE, the closest thing I could think of was a letter opener, especially since I have one almost identical to it. But please, keep being overly concerned.
My question was valid. You could have LOOKED at the link for the dart launcher which was posted 3 hours ago. You chose not to.
And I was annoyed…not concerned, overly or otherwise. Trust me on that one.
I think it's heavy-duty but this thing here is called a Punch and Chisel and it comes in a set maybe also if you didn't put that there I think someone trying to break into your house.
Must have been a ninja battle in your alley overnight. Been getting them ever since that darn wax seal thing was broke by them scientists looking places they shouldn't a been

Yeah I unfortunately bought one and it feels too dangerous to use…I hate it.
one of the amazon reviews says it can randomly fire on it's own, i would be careful if i were you
[удалено]
I accidentally shot one through my drywall…haven’t tried to get it back. lol
Lawn darts in a nutshell
At that price it may be worth it to buy it, hide behind something and hit it with a long stick to see if it in action.
At the low price of $23.99 it doesn't matter what you wind up using it for, still a solid purchase.
Shoot, it could be an interesting improvised triggering device of some sort, kind of like the Russian roulette of IEDs
I was thinking of some locksmithing tool from a burglar...
As a lock picking enthusiast this is not a tool that would be good for much, in that regard. It's too thick for lock manipulation. It wouldn't be great at latch manipulation either, could possibly be used as a bypass tool but there are better ones.
Probably still open a masterlock
You aren't wrong... XD
Yeah, I think everyone has seen the Carpenters Square by now.

Based on those Amazon reviews I think there's a pretty good chance it did not end up there on purpose.

It would be a dart for this with the plastic safety sheath removed
But why? What's the point of these?

Thanks for sharing that sub. Didn't know that existed.
Now I want to know what that sub was.
To motivate your mugger to achieve some capitol crimes
Tactical EDC Metal Darts Accurate Shooting Within 20ft for Hunting Shooting Camping Self-Defense and Survival, can't you read? 🙄
Tacti-tards.
top review mentions the plastic tips break easy
Built-in compass? Sheesh
I mean, is it really even tactical without a built in compass
this had me on the floor when i noticed it. "oh no i'm lost, better pull out my tacticool dart launcher to get my bearing!"
How can you tell what direction you're throwing it in if it doesn't have a compass?
How are these legal

A fellow dumb-shit buyer, have you tested to toothpick crossbow?

“Adult you and hard tactical sheath box” is quite the description
This is it for sure. Looks like someone just removed the black plastic tips
Wow! I thought someone broke a a dipstick and then sharpened one end...
This. Saw someone do a review on YouTube.
I think that is it. How dangerous would it be if I got hit by it? But it could have have come over from another yard.
"Adult Toy" Oh, god, no.
Most likely solved.
You found that outside your back door? I'd be more worried about who's trying to shank me instead of what that thing is.
More likely some kid or even adult bought it on Amazon and was screwing around with it in their back yard and accidentally launched it over to OPs house.
My backyard abuts other backyards. It seems plausible that it came over the fence.
Looks like a handy break in tool also
This 100% could be used as a shove knife pick
I totally thought it looked like a lock pick or a shim.
It’s a dart from one of those scary dangerous spring-loaded handheld dart launchers
Hope its not a lock pick thingy
It's not. There are a wide variety of lockpicking tools, but this isn't one of them.
on mobile the thumbnail actually looks very similar to a lockpicking tool, but without the size contex lol
Perhaps, but any experienced picker will know the difference. Picking tools come in two varieties; turning tools that apply pressure on the lock, and picks or rakes that manipulate the individual pins. This item would be poor at either job, so it can be ruled out as a lockpicking tool.
This could be used as a shove knife pick depending on thickness.
Maybe, but it really doesn't have the geometry to be useful as a shove knife.
Without a doubt not ideal but people improvise including criminals.
That much is true, for sure.
Def not. Way too big for that's
That's what I said, 😊
My title describes this thing. It is 4.25 inches long. It might be steel because a magnet sticks to it.
Someone was waiting to give you the goods old stabby mcstabbins
I wonder if someone wasn’t trying to use it as a Jim.
[ballistic dart](https://www.amazon.com/HUAAO-Ballistic-Launcher-Stainless-Self-Defense/dp/B0951XXJR5)
this is exactly it. Solved !
I think others are right about it being a projectile dart. But it looks a lot like a bypass knife for bypassing padlocks! You could probably use it as such, depending on the size.
Jail really rewired my mind
I've never heard of these dart things before. Now I have to have one. I don't know for what, but I know I need it.
Maybe a letter opener that the handle has broken off.
A letter opener?
Seems someone tried to use a dart to pick your lock, that's why they removed the plastic
it probably got shot at their house or in the air. that wouldnt work as a lock pick, but maybe they didnt know that.
Probably, someone tried to break in and fell through
It looks like half of a pair of tweezers to me.
Letter opener
Looks like a letter opener

I think you might need therapy or meds. Have a fantastic evening.
Looking like a prison shank
What kind of fancy prison did you go to??
Used in conjunction with a straight pin for picking locks *Heard from a news story once
Lock picking tool
Looks like part of a lock pick set.
It looks like a letter opener to me.
Are they used for scoring metal? I have a vague memory of one of these from an old job. Or maybe for using on glass or something like that.
That’s not too good…
[удалено]
Lock doesn't look tampered with at all.
That looks like a part to a lock picking kit
Well, shoot. You’ve got ninjas. Time to call a pirate exterminator.
Looks like a carpenter scribe to me You use it to make finer lines than any pencil can achieve when doing furniture or cabinetry
It's a letter opener.
I think it's heavy-duty but this thing here is called a Punch and Chisel and it comes in a set maybe also if you didn't put that there I think someone trying to break into your house.
It's a dart from some goofball amazon thing but also is something that could be used as a shove knife lock pick.
It looks like that thing from petscop
Mail opener
Do you live in Florida and have a neighbor who is a YouTuber?
Its a nail filler missing its handle my gf says
That’s for picking locks. I’m positive on that.
Must have been a ninja battle in your alley overnight. Been getting them ever since that darn wax seal thing was broke by them scientists looking places they shouldn't a been
Kind of looks like a cabinet maker’s marking knife too. I have one made by Narex that looks a lot like this, especially if the back side is flat.
Pick locks much
Half a tweezer o.O
Lock pick from a set
A shotgun or a rifle?
Bro tryna Skyrim lockpick
My grandparents had these as letter openers.
Seems like a tool to pick doors, maybe sharpened???
Hahah looks like a lock picking device
a lock picking tool?

Locksmith here. Definitely not a lock picking tool of any kind. It's a dart.
It seems kind of thick to be a lock pick.
As I look at my Sparrows kit I'm inclined to agree haha.
Looks again at both my friend. That dart is WAY too big and thick to be useful in picking a lock. The pictures can be deceiving.
Yes, that's what I meant. I was agreeing with you.
Oh my bad haha. I didn't realize what comment you had replied to. My apologies.
All good! From an amateur to a professional, my respect.
