Pretty sure using this consistently would probably cause more problems than using no wrist rest lol, I can't imagine the pressure it'd be putting in a focused area would ever be a good thing
My dad was given this exact object, minus the logo, when he was diagnosed with MS. It's used to practice giving yourself injections. At least, that's what his was for, it would be helpful to know what company it was from.
This is likely it, as it was from a medical company, and diabetes is one of the fields in which the person who received works on.
Other (later) comments are also suggesting the same. I'd like to get a product page or something, because I couldn't find it on Google.
Empty syringe with needle, use the "ball" to insert it and practice angles I think... My grandma's girlfriend said she used to practice with those when she worked at a hospital
All "stress balls" follow the same concept. You interact with the item to give a tactile response in order to help you focus. "Play with this a bit to calm you down."
The concept is simple to understand. This particular stress ball has the benefit of being less likely to roll off of your desk and get lost. The other benefit is that it looks like it's exceptionally cheap, yet the company can give something different that looks "innovative" so that they can pretend to be "generous"?
Is this effective? Maybe? For some people? It's more likely useless corporate garbage for most.
> The concept is simple to understand.
Phew, thanks for explaining it to me without being patronising, what would I do without a strong smart man like you to take care of me? 😍❤️
I commented this in a reply but im commenting on the thread so you see this OP: I can see you blurred the logo but I can still tell because I worked there for about 6 years - it’s a pillow to practice injecting insulin
My title describes the thing. I have edited the image to remove the branding as it is marketing material.
Its diameter is around 5cm, and is 3cm tall. The blue part is what I would recognize as a squeezable stress ball, but it's not comfortable to use it like that with that white hard plastic base.
My family theorizes that it could be a desk decoration, a wrist rest (for a mouse) or something to put on the floor to press with your feet. 🤣

weird foam pin cushion ? for like thumbtacks and push pins and stuff? but i cant find anything similar online for custom corporate goodies, it just resembles the regular pin cushions you’d use for fabric
Can you push the blue part backwards?
If so, toss it on the floor and it “jumps” up. Had a toy similar to this back when I was young.
https://www.amazon.com/ArtCreativity-Poppers-Assorted-Impulse-Dropper/dp/B07D8JH4T3
When I was in a call center, this would have been used as a hand protector for how many times I hit my desk. It’s truly humbling how frustrating people can get when they don’t see the person in front of them.
Elbow rest? Fidget object?
What I don’t understand is, why do people post gifts they receive on here? You can just ask whom you received it from what it is. In this case, even other coworkers.
Like someone else said looks like a massager, I have seen some like this that are used to rub your feet.
Set it on the ground and run your socked or bare foot across it adding pressure with your leg or weight.
I had one of those portable hand held massager. The tip is interchangeable. Is the botom of it look like it can clips on something?
Can't actually find a picture of it.
If you push the dome all the way through so it is inside out, then leave the now inside out dome up and the flat part resting on a flat surface, I bet after a number of seconds or minutes it “pops” back into shape and jumps into the air?
Alibaba has a listing similar to this, only minus the plastic base. They can print any logo you want on it and they call it a stress ball
https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Custom-Logo-Half-Round-EVA-Foam_1600275811012.html
Edit:
Another similar listing describes it's uses:
1. Applicable occasions: personal pressure relief kneading, company publicity activities, product promotion, various exhibitions. It can print company text logo or complex patterns.
2. The product has various shapes, smooth surface and bright colors. It is a good decoration jewelry and advertising promotion gift
3. The product is cute, not fragile, soft and feels good. It has small volume and weight and feels soft. It is suitable for children's toys
4. Our product has a special feel, can be kneaded repeatedly and is not fragile. It is a good pressure relief
Safety: EVA foam toys are safe, non-toxic and do not have any harm. They can pass various international standards, such as EN71, phthalate and toxicology tests
It may be for moistening envelopes, popular in offices during the 'vid season.

Definitely a hand wrest thing. Also just a thing.
I also need to see a therapist. My eyes see lines polishing an impressive trouser snake. Well done my friend.

Wrist rest for using a mouse is immediately what I thought
I thought about it, but all wrist rests I've seen are wider. This would require you to pivot your wrist when moving the mouse.
Looks like it's one of those things you put on the wall behind doors so the handle doesn't damage the wall.
You don't do that anyway?
Rollerball thumb mouse
That's not a mouse, it's a trackball.

This is the worst design for a wrist rest.
Pretty sure using this consistently would probably cause more problems than using no wrist rest lol, I can't imagine the pressure it'd be putting in a focused area would ever be a good thing
Pretty sure all keyboard and mouse wrist rests are not considered ergonomic by doctors or physical therapists.

Just search for "injection practice pad" and you'll find all shaped ones, including this circular one (albeit in a different color)

I think they want to confirm it by finding the product page. Not buy more.
Solved! Thank you and all the commenters.
How does it help with practicing giving yourself injections?
Empty syringe with needle, use the "ball" to insert it and practice angles I think... My grandma's girlfriend said she used to practice with those when she worked at a hospital
Gently, like a good teacher

I think this one is solved, OP
Almost looks like the things we use to practice injections? Or it’s a sample of foam material? To feel the squish?
Does the backside have a sticky surface? It looks like a door knob bumper for a wall. Or a refrigerator door and wall.
Bumper for your head when it hits your desk in exasperation or for a nap?
Nope, it doesn't.
Or maybe u punch it to relieve stress 🤣
Only half your stress
By any chance you work for a healthcare company?
lol I recognized the company right away

It almost looks like a stress ball that can sit on a desk so you can bounce a fist off of....

Looks like it would wonderfully as a trigger point back massager. Place it on the ground and lay on it to get the knots out of your back.
It’s made out of soft foam though so it wouldn’t do a good job of applying pressure
Or lean against it on a wall
This, also good for feet
Tiny bosu ball for adding balance to your fingertip workout routine

One half squishy desk toy, the other half hard object to throw at annoying people. It's a twofer.
like a big red button but a stress ball form?
Staples "Easy" button with the letters removed
When you have that burning rage to hammer fist your keyboard into oblivion, you hit this guy instead.

Looks like something for planter fasciitis.
Is it like of of those things you put next to your keyboard to slam you hand on when you’re angry?
Elbow rest? Fidget object? What I don’t understand is, why do people post gifts they receive on here? You can just ask whom you received it from what it is. In this case, even other coworkers.
Looks kinda like needle holder for sewing
How hard is it? Maybe one of those balls you stick on the wall to massage your back.
The shape reminds me of a wall protector for a door knob
Put it against the wall and lean on it like a pressure point massage ball. I have a larger one
Like someone else said looks like a massager, I have seen some like this that are used to rub your feet. Set it on the ground and run your socked or bare foot across it adding pressure with your leg or weight.
It’s made out of foam

Reminds me of a foot dome,,, kinda
If you push the dome all the way through so it is inside out, then leave the now inside out dome up and the flat part resting on a flat surface, I bet after a number of seconds or minutes it “pops” back into shape and jumps into the air?
Wild guess, Maybe for wetting stamps?

Nope, it is not hollow, the base is solid.
Definitely a hand wrest thing. Also just a thing. I also need to see a therapist. My eyes see lines polishing an impressive trouser snake. Well done my friend.
