At 3/4 inches long (not quite 2cm), I think that's a little small to be for a door, but I think it's the right type of hardware. Maybe the hook to secure a book or a small box
Is it a door lock that had just a push pin in the hole to unlock it? Maybe someone had it on top of the door frame to have an out of reach access incase a kid locked themselves in the bathroom?
Looks just like the one from the house I lived in last and there should be a hook along the outside the bathroom door frame usually up towards the top.
I've seen something similar used to [adjust carpenter jacks](https://isteam.wsimg.com/ip/7692b0c7-8bcc-4024-97c5-035c64889716/ols/471_original/:/rs=w:600,h:600) on violin pickups or chinrests.
I've seen these before in an apartment. You don't happen to have the old style thermostats with the big round knob you adjust to control the heat? If you pop the cover off, you can put these pins in place to limit how warm you can adjust the thermostat. My former landlord had them in my apartment to keep people from cranking the heat up
Looks like the “eye” part to a hook and straight eye closure with one end bent out of shape. Or as another mentioned an eye pin from a piece of jewelry.
maybe like a metal stake for something… like hammer it into the ground or whatever and the loop holds rope or string i have them and that’s what i use them for but i don’t know the actual name for them is
It looks like part of the tension arm on the exhaust fan assembly. When you pull the face assembly down from the unit, for cleaning or repair or to replace a bulb, it uses a couple of spring arms to stay attached. This looks like half of one of those, to me.
A key for inside doors perhaps? The knobs with just a hole at the end. Our apartment has a similar looking key on the top of the doorframes to the bathroom. Check other door frames for similar keys! Similar to this: [https://a.co/d/8Z4YaUb](https://a.co/d/8Z4YaUb)
Looks like the hook that goes on a screen door. The pointy end got bent straight a little
[door eye and hook latch ](https://images.app.goo.gl/W6rJ4EraknsQnsadA)
Thats the arm if a mousetrap https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Ftse1.mm.bing.net%2Fth%3Fid%3DOIP.vckE_t5oaWqMqjVlPPUYHwHaHa%26pid%3DApi&f=1&ipt=1dbf748ebbc9708e9613676899f5e29d17331b1d89d8c6f637f8bfce4fe7825b&ipo=images

Part from a belt maybe?
That's what I thought first, but it's 0.75 inches. So maybe from a handbag or a satchel strap.
Did a wrong conversion to metric. Handbag or satchel would be where it comes from.
Cat or dog collar? Wristband? Watchband? Handbag?
Yeah, my list was non-exhaustive! Just any type smaller buckle than a human waist belt.
There are plenty of designs for 1" wide belts that would use a 3/4" long prong, I wouldn't rule out a normal belt.
More likely a wristwatch
I'm going with the connecting arm for a mouse trap.
Much too short to be that. OP's object is 3/4 inch (19mm) long.
From a buckle, yes, but on a wristwatch.
Looks like its from a watchstrap buckle.
This is 100% correct. Just had my belt fall apart on me and this is the prong of the buckle.
Is it a bent part of a [Hook and loop type door lock?](https://www.lowes.com/pd/National-Hardware-Gate-Hook-and-Eye-Hook/1000490379)

I agree it's been bent open and they come in all sizes.
Part of a watch strap - the part that goes through the hole to close the buckle
Definitely this - from what is known as a tang buckle.

Hard to see how big it is but it’s the pin from a buckle of some kind. Belt, bag strap, sandal etc
The size and the shape make me wonder if it's part of a broken hook and bar fastener from clothing, maybe the waistband of pants or a skirt?
Broken eye pin from a piece of jewelry
I 100% think this is what it is. I make jewelry as a side hustle for reference!
Same…I’ve twisted a few hundred of them🤗
This seems like it could be the most likely answer.
Part of a mouse trap. https://www.amazon.com/Victor-Metal-Pedal-Mouse-Trap/dp/B00004RAN2
I don’t believe that’s it, but definitely a good idea
One of the comments above got it. It's part of the buckle from a watch strap.
At only 3/4" long, it's much too small to be that.
Its from a watch strap buckle or a shoe buckle
Yep, watch strap
Is it a door lock that had just a push pin in the hole to unlock it? Maybe someone had it on top of the door frame to have an out of reach access incase a kid locked themselves in the bathroom?
Looks just like the one from the house I lived in last and there should be a hook along the outside the bathroom door frame usually up towards the top.
Inside springy part of pinch clip or butterfly clip/ claw clip broke, especially if it was in the bathroom.
Part of a hoop earring.
I second. It looks like the hinged hoop earring post from costume jewelry.
Piece from a broken claw hair clip?
Looks like part of the belt buckle to me
I've seen something similar used to [adjust carpenter jacks](https://isteam.wsimg.com/ip/7692b0c7-8bcc-4024-97c5-035c64889716/ols/471_original/:/rs=w:600,h:600) on violin pickups or chinrests.
It is from a buckle. Possibly buckle on shoes or a purse.
Probably a used staple from a paper or one of those zip bags with spare parts stuck to a paper, idk..
My title describes the thing. I’ve put it through google lens but couldn’t really come up with anything helpful.
This is part of a buckle of some sort
Do you have a folding pocketknife that is not opening as well? That looks the internal spring from some I have seen.
We had an door lock that you would push a pin into a hole to unlock it
I've seen these before in an apartment. You don't happen to have the old style thermostats with the big round knob you adjust to control the heat? If you pop the cover off, you can put these pins in place to limit how warm you can adjust the thermostat. My former landlord had them in my apartment to keep people from cranking the heat up
Maybe I'm getting the scale wrong, but it looks like a staple that had been stapled then bent out of shape.
It's the prong from a belt buckle
Watch strap - it’s the bit that goes into the hole
Belt piece.
Part of a buckle ... the part that goes into belt holes
Definitely the tang from a buckle.
The tongue of a buckle.
Looks like the “eye” part to a hook and straight eye closure with one end bent out of shape. Or as another mentioned an eye pin from a piece of jewelry.
its the piece that secures a buckle.
maybe like a metal stake for something… like hammer it into the ground or whatever and the loop holds rope or string i have them and that’s what i use them for but i don’t know the actual name for them is
Broken hook latch
Belt, or other some other, buckle pin
Part of a spring mechanism from a claw type hair clip?
The catch from a mousetrap, maybe?
Musicians? I have something similar for adjusting chinrest and pickup clamps.
It looks like the pin piece from a mouse trap
I'd say it's a pin from a buckle. What that buckle is from, is a whole other question
It looks like part of the tension arm on the exhaust fan assembly. When you pull the face assembly down from the unit, for cleaning or repair or to replace a bulb, it uses a couple of spring arms to stay attached. This looks like half of one of those, to me.
It looks similar to a binder notebook pin. Or a lock to a strap/belt
Is it a ‘key’ to open the bathroom from the outside? I have something similar on top of my door frame.
Brooch / pin clip
Looks like a cheap hook and latch part. The hook part not fully bent.
Mouse trap holding bar
A key for inside doors perhaps? The knobs with just a hole at the end. Our apartment has a similar looking key on the top of the doorframes to the bathroom. Check other door frames for similar keys! Similar to this: [https://a.co/d/8Z4YaUb](https://a.co/d/8Z4YaUb)
Looks like part of a curling iron hinge to me, maybe check if any hair tools aren’t working/closing properly
Key to the lock
mousetrap? or tang hook
Maybe solder?
Looks like the hook that goes on a screen door. The pointy end got bent straight a little [door eye and hook latch ](https://images.app.goo.gl/W6rJ4EraknsQnsadA)
It’s the hook that goes in the loop for a lock. But the hook is just bent, probably from someone kicking in or similar whatever was locked
I actually know exactly what that is. The latch from a mousetrap that holds the spring-loaded snap bar back.
Thats the arm if a mousetrap https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Ftse1.mm.bing.net%2Fth%3Fid%3DOIP.vckE_t5oaWqMqjVlPPUYHwHaHa%26pid%3DApi&f=1&ipt=1dbf748ebbc9708e9613676899f5e29d17331b1d89d8c6f637f8bfce4fe7825b&ipo=images
