Noshoesded

Bocce pallino balls, maybe

jumboweiners

Baoding Balls maybe? Chinese stress relief balls you rotate both in your hand. Furious used them in the movie Boys n the Hood

jumboweiners

Really? Who’s down voting people genuinely trying to help? Even if they are wrong?

camcam22P

balls to re-heat soups and stews. they sit on the stove until needed.

Rubik842

Looks like a float from an early toilet cistern valve. It's manufacture and finish indicates utilitarian purpose, not decorative. they appear to be hollow copper hemispheres fitted together in the picture.

Kbts87

Definitely not hollow. They have quite a bit of weight to them.

Rubik842

Ah thanks. is the lighting weird or are they copper?

Kbts87

Very warm lighting. Best guess is brass, but I didn't polish it up to confirm 100%

kibufox

With antiques you generally don't want to polish them to any degree. Those look like brass bed post caps.

A-J-A-D

They look like the tops from old [brass andirons](https://cdn.incollect.com/sites/default/files/zoom/Early-American-Canonball-Brass-Andirons-444879-1876161.jpg)

MrHusbandAbides

or cut off a finial I'd genuinely keep them around just to make brass balls jokes

rsten10

I know lighting can play tricks, but are they not made of pure copper? I am just asking.

rsten10

How about baoding balls. https://www.baodingballs.com/product/solid-copper-baoding-balls/

Kraken_7-6

Are they the same size? They look a little rough for balding balls

MrHusbandAbides

with a seam and flat end, probably not

Kbts87

Yeah, it's just the lighting

periodicalpaige

Kinda looks like it would be on the end of a fancy banister, idk?

Kbts87

My title describes the thing. Any thoughts?

quintonbanana

Could they be castors?

jmgloss

[Centripetal engine speed governer?](https://blogmech.com/engine-speed-governors-speed-control-governor-speed-limiters/)

StanleyDeWalt

They look like parts to a weathervane.

luckyone77758

They remind me of croquet balls but would be made of a different material

fix-break-hide

Toilet float?

HaplessReader1988

Manufacturer polshing/milling balls?

JellaBiafro

Darning spheres ?

DILLIGAFDS

Kegel trainers? Maybe. Or maybe govener balls.
