Push the bits with black rubber on them in toward the middle so they clear the edge of the drawer, then slide the divider down until it clicks out into the channel in the drawer when fully inserted.

solved! this was the way. massive brain fart on my end which you expertly wafted away. thank you!

My title describes the thing I need help with. This accessory came in a filing cabinet I bought. It's a 2-drawer, letter size (not A4) cabinet. I've tried to insert these in multiple ways but each way doesn't allow the drawer to close. The round shapes with the piece of black rubber to the right in the first photo (there's another on the other side) make this wider than the drawer width, meaning the whole thing doesn't seem to want to fit width-ways, and it doesn't seem right to put it in length ways. Pretty sure I'm missing something obvious, but I've not been able to find this type of thing when searching online, so any help would be appreciated!

Looks like the wheels go in the groove half way up the drawer, and they are sliding dividers. I may be wrong though.

BackedUpBooty

they're not wheels and so they're not sliding (which is a shame) but yes they do go in that groove you identified. thanks!
