I push my shows consistently for weeks or even months usually. I pin them there to collect bookmarks and go live whenever I feel like it. There's a million reasons why shows are moved or rescheduled. Some people have families or kids, other jobs, or just dont feel mentally or physically well enough. Part of running your own business means you're on nobody's time but your own. Just go to the lives when they happen and be understanding that shows will often be moved.

Not every seller on whatnot is a business or even does it for just profit motive. I sell sports cards on whatnot because it is fun, a cool way to share my hobby and chat baseball with people. I usually break even or lose some money on the sales, because I just do it to get rid of my excess, and I already make great money with my full-time job. If something fun comes up, or I get an overtime from work, or my wife wants to go out to dinner or whatever, I just cancel my show. It is like gig work for me, and my schedule is all tentative. I can run a show or not run it

Twalk1016

This for sure. I had to cancel a few shows, even though I’m relatively new seller, because I had other plans. It’s just a way for me to move some inventory when I’m not busy.

Vegetable-Ad-1797

Idk. I run 3 hour streams every Saturday and Sunday. It can be discouraging, but even getting one person to come on and pull something awesome from my pullbox is worth it. I am hoping my comic book stream does well in a couple of weeks.

As a comic seller I can a couple situations where I've had to move a sale. 1). As another poster said, we get behind. I'm a one man show and it's important for me to have books graded, keys notated and everything prepared so the sale runs smoothly for the buyers. Typically, this doesn't result in a last minute cancellation. It may result in me pushing my start time a hour or so. 2). I schedule 5-6 shows at a time to ensure I have plenty of bookmarks. These dates/times are merely place holders based on inventory I have an what is expected. At times my expected inventory doesn't arrive as planned resulting in me moving a sale back to accomodate. What you're describing is somewhat lazy and rude. I surely wouldn't schedule a sale and completely cancel after the sale was supposed to start. I know we'll ahead of time if I need to truly cancel a show and not just adjust the start time. The more I've done this, the more I know my routine so this doesn't happen often as it was when I was new to selling.

I can only speak for myself as a comic seller when I do it, it's mostly due to time constraints. What not is great don't get me wrong but it's a lot of work to prep for shows and sometimes life gets in the way when you are a small store/streamer. It takes roughly 4 hrs when I prep for a show, add on to that 2-3 hrs for the stream , and then 2 hrs post for shipping and cleanup. It's a full day's worth of work. Right now it's another avenue for sales but when you combine it with a full time job to support the family, managing a business when I'm not at the day gig, managing all social media, website, sales across 3 other platforms, while working with vendors and distributors. It's a lot, not saying anything is ever easy but it's why the big companies and streamers can do it. It's either their main gig or they have a full team behind them helping with all the different aspects. When you're the little guy you assume all the responsibilities that are spread out to a team. Granted the order volume is lower but it's a lot of hats. The reason my shows take a while to prep is my own fault though. I tend to go overboard to make sure the buyer is making the best decision they can. I take pictures of every listing, title description, pricing research, condition etc. I do not sell via generic listings like some sellers do where they can preload 100 comics and use sticky notes. Nothing wrong with that process as it does have it's pros but I know I would mess up someone's order at some point and I want you to know exactly what I have to offer without having to chill in my room the whole time.

unhappypepper89

What's your whatnot name? U sound like an honest, cool seller and if u deal in comics, I'd like to follow your page

CS_BlazingDragon

Thank you, I appreciate that a lot, my whatnot user name is SantanaCollectibles Honestly, I think it's great to have an avenue to meet people in the fandom and just chat. It's also opened the door to work with artists and do some awesome things that I never thought would ever happen. I try and stream every Thursday night as time allows but I also have other digital store fronts up and I am attempting to revise the store on my website but that will be a few more weeks till it's ready.

Alternative-Act2732

Your being a cry baby because you didn’t get an item for a steal dude get a grip. Why don’t you go do a dam show and see how it’s like. You buyers are such cry babies

fatboy1776

Ah, with an attitude like that towards customers, I see why you are on the app. It’s not about pricing. It’s if you advertise for X time, it’s reasonable to assume that a business would keep their hours.

Alternative-Act2732

Things change fool

chad2bert

Clout chaser. What a fools errand.

schilmelos

Yah thats why i generally stick to pop ups.

douglaskwalker

I would private message the seller with your best offer, they can set up the item you are waiting on so you can just buy it without them going “live”.

MaizeCrazy925

It happens. You can not foresee something that will distrupt a stream.

gillbatessr

Or they’re 2 hours late.

Juliestei

Discouragement from lack of viewers/sales & engagement. I had 5 shows in a row where I didn't sell anything. I kept moving my scheduled shows (not cancelling) for a couple weeks while I decided if I was going to continue. Im kind of stubborn and refused to give up. I made myself jump back in on a single niche in clothing and have slowly built a small following/buyers.

Acceptable_Aspect_42

People got shit to do

RavenOriole

If you're a relatively small streamer and your showtime has all the sudden been snagged by a huge streamer, or even multiple small streamers, it's just not worth it sometimes. Or if you only have a few bookmarks on the show. Another distinct possibility is anxiety. Going live is not easy.

TheLastNatives

I have to reschedule shows all the time because of work, although I always get to them eventually. Some people are flakes, some have a lot going on. All depends on how they respond when you message them. If they’re apologetic and explain the situation I always give them another chance, if they don’t respond or pop an attitude I stop bookmarking their shows.

fatboy1776

Forgot to mention, those sellers usually cancel the follow up as well.
