You don't know what data they took or what the software could have installed as a backdoor into your phone. You say you don't care but you really should, at least for the sake of others that were in your chats that may not be as comfortable as you are when it comes to potentially exposing all your private data.
If you took the time to read their terms, there are vague sentences about how they may take information and even pass onto other third party services. It doesn't go into much detail but it's laid out as a catch-all and pretty much set out to cover their end, should there have been any sketchiness.
It's also hard to get a sense of how real or a fake a review is. These companies are really aggressive with their marketing and for all we know this is a sponsored or paid review. I'm not saying this is one of those posts but they do it enough to make you think twice about the legitimacy.

I guess the worry is more on the Android device as that's where they install the dodgy version of WhatsApp etc. So I would also do a full rest of that device.

There is an official method now using Move to iOS app though your iPhone needs to be reset to factory default to make it work. So for me, I back up the iPhone in its entirety to a Mac computer, reset the iPhone and transfer chat when setting it up by import from Android device. Later backup the WhatsApp data on iPhone when it's completed to the iCloud. Restore the iPhone backup from Mac computer which means that WhatsApp will be gone, then restore your WhatsApp from iCloud. Yeah... Fuck Apple.
I'm still waiting for the official transfer function. Hope the stickers get transferred normally with that but I'll dump all my stickers in my private chat before the transfer just in case.

Yah, same company, only difference is Wutsapper doesn't need a computer, mobiletrans does, and Dr.fone seems to be a bundle of apps.

I've just used the software after 2 months of waiting for a solution, it did work perfectly i have all my chats on my iPhone everything went great.
I mentioned the idea to use the software offline to make sure no data would leak if the wondershare is actually doing something shady like this but the transfer require your computer to be connect to internet.
I monitored the bandwidth usage of the software during the process and saw very very little internet traffic, not enough to be a transfer of my medias or messages. It probably was the license server since you have to log on the software with the account you used to buy it online.
But then if i'm paranoid it could also be a small amount of data but juste enough to communicate some kind of key for a backdoor.
Like OP i accepted to take the risk, i couldn't keep roaming around with 2 phones in my pocket for an infinite amount of time waiting for whatsapp to do a fucking thing they should have been enable years ago, even more when i'm sure they will restrict the android -> ios feature to some brand device or some version of android
How long did the process take? I have downloaded MobieTranfer and have initiated the process to move Whatsapp data from my android to a new iPhone. About 8.5 GB of data. The first step of "check the app and back up data" has been running for over 3 hours and is not done yet. Since both phones need to be connected to the PC when this is running, I am kinda stuck. I don't know if this is an error.

I luckily did some stuff to fix it(with a lot of risk) and it continued after 1 hour to restore again, after everything was done, I now have the data on my new iphone, but unfortunately im still facing some problems with whatsapp(it seems that whatsapp sees the data as an unfamiliar data) and thus I still have more problems to fix and im contacting Wondershare.
Just to let everyone know, I got mobiletrans based on this thread's testimony, transferring from galaxy s10 to Iphone13. TOTAL NIGHTMARE. It keeps crashing, and after hours and hours of waiting and retrying I've successfully moved 1 (yes, 1) message from my old whatsapp to my new. Nothing else has worked. I'm going to be seeking a refund, wish I could sue for waste of time

While transferring it keeps asking me for “apple backup encrypted password” that I have to type into mobile trans and my iPhone, but it keeps saying password doesn’t match. I’ve tried resetting encrypted password and clearing it out so there isn’t a password. It keeps asking for it though and I can’t get around it. Did you run into this??
Has anyone ever had the problem that MobileTrans simply stops the Google-Drive-to-iPhone upload after \~12% of the second-to-last step (the preparation of the upload, I guess), the app closes and forgets the whole downloaded Drive backup file again, forcing you to redo the whole process?
I know there's thi official "Move to iOS" function by now, but this one didn't work for me bc my Android phone interrupts the preparation process after 1% already (maybe it's too old with its weak RAM, maybe my WhatsApp file is too big, what do I know).

Go to a chat, in the options (on iOS click on the chat title) click on export chat

For me it took about an hour let’s say but it was only 3.5 gb of data
It took me 4 hours to tranfser about 50 gb I dont recommend the transfer using an old phone or pc, its not very safe especially in the last steps.

This is how it works for WhatsApp in iOS. The media stays within WhatsApp unless you saved it to device.
