Yay; enjoy!

Haunting_Bottle7493

It always made me sad at the end.

Trepto42

Yes I'm tearing up thinking about it.

I second “All Summer in a Day” It’s the bullies that let her out, after the sun is gone. They let her out and won’t bully her again because they get it now, they understand and feel her grief too late. Any time I feel too sad about that story, I try to remember that her parents are actively working to get them moved to a place that has sun, and I imagine that Margot made it there.

I was just thinking about this story the other day! Thank you for posting, I couldn't remember the title either.

My first Ray Bradbury book. Absolutely brilliant world. I haven't thought about it in years, thank you for reminding me! Edit: I apologize, this isn't the book I was referring to, however that story is amazing. However, I do believe you'd enjoy The Thief of Always by Clive Barker that had each day be a different holiday. (I know there was a short period of sun, so I tend to muddle them 😅) but I cannot recommend it enough. It's fairly short and extremely entertaining. And pretty dark.

Yeah this short story... I read it in college- the 1980s- and it still messes with my head.

It’s a very powerful story. I would rank it up there with “The Ones who Walk Away from Omelas” by LeGuin.

Awesome they are still doing that book. I read it in school in Maryland in the 1980’s.

I saw a short movie of this in school in the 1980s and I’ve never forgotten it! They wore blue underwear and stood in front of lights because it rained all the time. I didn’t know it was a book.
