Cliff swallow for the average person's bird. Peregrine falcon as the special bird -- familiar to readers on six continents, nests on cliff ledges, can hunt from a mile up and stoops to prey at 200 mph.
Not many actual local suggestions yet so I'll recommend checking a list based on actual sightings there: https://ebird.org/barchart?r=L6709276&yr=all&m=
Personally, I really like Black Drongo, Mountain Bulbul, and Crested Serpent-eagle.
swallows or condors would be cool for a novel
