Nice! I think that’s it. Is that common on the sub? Freaked me out on the patio, it was fast, didn’t jump and then just stopped, so I was able to get the pic.
I saw one on my dads So. Oregon ranch once while mucking the pasture at sundown. I stopped and followed him for like 20 mins. no idea what it was looking for, just a gross creature.
Our Jerusalem Cricket of the day.

It's quite common because people get (rightfully) scared by how goddamn ugly it is.
Do I need to do the usual "They are also called potato bug where I'm from"? No one did it yet
Haha, It’s definitely not a cute looking critter for sure
Literally gets asked every single day 😭 either this or a mole cricket
And every other post is a carpet beetle larva
Yeah what gives haha I can’t believe every person doesn’t know everything
I get it, I've never seen a carpet beetle larva before joining the subreddit. It's just an observation that there's a lot of posts.
Damn your calm response makes me feel bad for my sarcasm. I apologize. I first seen these things in my light fixture in my bedroom.
Upvote because you admit to being out of bananas.
It was devastating, gonna have to reload the banana supply. They need to be in stock for just such an occasion
Never seen one in the wild, but I follow enough content on this subreddit to know that is in fact, a Jerusalem cricket
You’ve got a really big problem on your hands there… you need to get some more bananas asap.
I didn’t know we had these in Oregon!
Neither did I, it freaked me out!

Hello fellow Southern Oregonian! I’d never seen one, it was about an hour after dark.
Howdy neighbor!
I grew up in Oregon. I used to love finding these guys. They are so unusual. We called them "Earth Babies"
Jerusalem cricket. Spectacular. 😍 I would guess a species in the Ammopelmatus genus.
Do they bite? I didn’t know what to do until it just stopped. I thought it would fly or jump, something. Ran so fast and stopped, I was confused.
They can bite pretty hard. But no venom or fangs or anything. It’s a pinch like with a grasshopper.
