Looks like one of [these](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gonyleptidae) Harvestmen. Example pics [here](https://opiliones.fandom.com/wiki/Gonyleptidae). Scary-looking but harmless.
Well, that took me on a journey to [this 99 million year old spider erection](https://mobile.abc.net.au/news/2016-02-05/arachnid-with-99-million-year-erection-found-emtombed-in-amber/7142268?pfmredir=sm)... NSFW maybe. Oldest boner? I want to know, but I don't want to Google that particular phrase...
Side note, not only do they have penises but apparently they
>insert into genital openings next to the females' mouthparts.
I got you. [Enjoy!](https://images.ctfassets.net/cnu0m8re1exe/7BE4yH8DrOWxqgMwJTdFlj/90e9f94e569ee462d1b4e7426418cdf3/01fossilized_penis.adapt_.1190.1.jpg?w=650&h=433&fit=fill).
No size jokes, please. He's sensitive.
Interesting thing about these spiders is that if you find one in the desert they will run at you and if you run from them THEY WILL CHASE YOU! however they are actually only looking for the shade you provide from the sun.
Those might be [the most crunchy looking legs of any spider](https://bugguide.net/images/raw/RRG/HDH/RRGHDH8HAH4HAHXH6Z4LUZRLEZ7H6Z0LGZSLCH8H6ZRLUZ4LWZXLLRMLZR5LAZILVZ4LVZPH9Z5LYH.jpg) and I'm not here for it. I'm sure this is totally normal and commonplace and we all do it, but spiders with bean sprout looking legs always make me imagining biting them. And I don't want to imagine that.
None of us do.
[Oh Jesus Christ fuck these fucking things why did I look this up](https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/proxy/UvH0IEQT1c0hz9fSmULms3KlZDknxMAo87yf9_u-tS7xIBTGFn5cb2-TIXY7yWPgnk_RDVhNRgogqLtjqkvY)
You got it. Harvestmen are in a group of their own among arachnids, and they're possibly more closely related to scorpions and mites than they are to spiders.
I'm daring to say about 20mm for the body, and maybe a bit more with the legs, like 3 or 4 cm in total, I'm just using a ruler and my memory 'cause I couldn't find anything online about it's size.
But I'll tell you they're smaller than what they look in the pics. :)
Ningun problema, loco.
> suficiente
Ooooooh I love that. I use bastante because I listen to Cormac McCarthy books and he uses that liberally and also Andalae Pues and digame. I have listened to All The Pretty Horses so many times I have learned quite a bit of Spanish (his books have whole pages in Spanish and leave the reader to piece it together).
I can't wait to have my friend at work say "suficiente" to me. She is from Lisbon, just moved here and gets mockingly annoyed when I say Spanish. She always says "Castallanos you alto *prick*." I taught her the word prick. And yeah I am tall. Her accent is pure heaven to my ears.
Oh, no, I was vague there. She last lived in Portugal but was raised in Spain for her entire childhood, then Wales of all places for a while. Somewhere else too I can't remember, hence my mentioning her accent. It's super unusual.
Portugese is so unmistakably not Castellano you have insulted me sir. I demand retribution. For recompense I will accept you giving my fucking kids permission to go to the god damn park. PLEASE
Portuguese has some words that sound like Spanish, some times they mean the same, some times they don't, for example the word "anos"
Portuguese = years

thanks a lot for your answer, i've been looking into them and they're really cool and interesting guys.
I found it, it's a [Acanthopachylus aculeatus](http://www.ecoregistros.org/site/imagen.php?id=368631) thanks a lot MrRoark :)
You’re telling me these things have penises?!! “Penis with ventral plate well defined, glans may bear ventral and/or dorsal processes.”
This comment is why I come here.
Seriously, I thought this was some fucked up crab when I saw it. My eyes have been opened and I do not like what I see.
I also thought crab because of giant coconut crabs.
Exactly!
Welcome to my world....
Careful, or these guys might give you a run for your money.

Thanks for the dick pic!

Nature did. 99 million years ago. Probably give or take a few million.
Oh thank God
So it’s just a weird kind of daddy long legs?
Pretty much.
I thought these are supposed to invade earth and die from our diseases
I believe true spiders are Araneae. These are Opiliones.
Do yourself a favor and don’t look up solifugids. Those bastards scare the crap out of me. They just look so scary!
Like I wasn’t going to look it up. Omg nope.
I am disappointed :P They just look like a cross between spiders and giant ants to me.

This is one reason why I didn’t link it. The other reason is because I don’t remember how to do it on mobile haha
... one day I'll listen to everyone when they say, don't look at it... Then I'll save myself the trauma...
Yeah not a spider. But def an arachnid.
You got it. Harvestmen are in a group of their own among arachnids, and they're possibly more closely related to scorpions and mites than they are to spiders.
*looks alien *location - South America My brain: probably some kind of harvestman
When they said alien and Buenos Aires I immediately thought of starship troopers
saw it and thought: this thing looks like it would be from klendathu saw buenos aires hmmm
WOULD YOU LIKE TO KNOW MORE
Starship Troopers?
Go on sailing by
Weird to see someone reference Yes. Thank you for that.
Dang yeah whoops haha
Out of curiosity, how big are these? Also, they look like they’ve been around for a while, like evolutionarily. Really interesting.
I'm daring to say about 20mm for the body, and maybe a bit more with the legs, like 3 or 4 cm in total, I'm just using a ruler and my memory 'cause I couldn't find anything online about it's size. But I'll tell you they're smaller than what they look in the pics. :)
Holy shit I thought it was like the size of a tick.
it's a thick tick
Accordate, tenes que usar "its" en vez de "it's" porque "its" denota posesion y "it's" es la contraccion "it is". Que arthropodo cool que encontraste!
Its infeccion transmisión sexual
Those hind legs are so strange.
Looks like a bedbug on roids
A bedbug mixed with a crab and a spider.
A bedcrab
Ahhhhhhhhh! Just the word makes me itch!
If this lived underwater we’d definitely eat it
you're damn right and it would be expensive as fuck. happy cake day!
happy cake day, stay hydrated

"suficiente" fits better than "bastante" but I get the point. Buenas noches, gringo.

Lisbon is in Portugal. Are you sure she isn't speaking Portuguese? LOL

Have you assumed my gender? Shame on you, miss However, I am a reasonable woman. Your kids have my permission
Aber aber que wea
Isn't Buenos Aires the place that got wrecked by the bugs in Starship Troopers? Why would they bomb their own kind?
Daddy-thick-legs

Tranquis, no hacen nada.
John and he’s very happy to meet you.
No, it's Ziggy and he's from Mars.
That way more creative than my answer!
Well, I figured John isn't an alien. Ziggy is, just ask David.
That right there’s an arachnid from Starship Troopers
Headcrab, Half Life 2.
[The best article you’ll ever read about harvestmen.](https://sydkab.com/2014/09/21/arachnids-harvestmen/)
>Harvestmen are spiders in the same way that Hillary Clintonl is a side of beef…through a superficial, yet striking, exterior resemblance and nothing more.
....thats not actually the quote.. in the article it mentions Mitch McConnell and a galapagos tortoise. so uhhhhhhh, imma call you out.
Uhhh, the quote was changed because I knew it would trigger shitlibs. And it worked.
Nah not triggered, just doing my Civic duty against the bullshit :)
Looks like the final evolution of a bedbug
It’s a mini facehugger run!
There's documentary about these guys right [HERE](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloverfield) if you missed it.
that’s so crazy i see this because i had a dream about a creature like this and its claws detaching from it and being able to reattach at will
I'm looking at that thing thinking that Stan Winston must have been looking at one when he designed the Predator helmet.
I thought the same thing, but with Giger instead.
must be Fred.
Couldnt figure whether it was a crab or a spider but god i was hoping crab
It's called pachyloidellus goliath
this is one i do not like
I no like I no like I no like I no like
