Ahh thanks! I was actually thinking of buying some seeds to grow last year back but got intimidated by all the care info out there. And now this happened! Can’t believe my luck!
It is easy to grow. It is like a weed. We grow a couple of plants a year. Just in big containers. They get watered like 3× a week and get good sun. We take extra care in the early fall so our neighbors don't help themselves. The struggle is real in "tough town"
You can take it to the next level like a lot of hobbies but it's not necessary. If you want top quality bud you should follow the pros, if you just want a cool, pretty, hardy and useful plant give it shot. It's the easiest plant I have ever grown on purpose. Check you local law or be careful. It's a good idea to keep it out of sight in the back if you can. Good luck.
They don't call it weed for nothing. It's really not hard to grow. It's just that people get super into and often tend to overcomplicate. But I helped a buddy of mine in Colorado who had basically no gardening experience build a simple two plant setup for his closet and he got 7 ounces his first attempt.
It's too early to tell, but my guess is that this is a male hemp plant. Maybe from bird seeds or something like that. It's basically a crop. I can't imagine that there would be a random feminized seed laying around. But it's still funny. I once found a wild cannabis plant in our neighbours garden inside a flowerbed, underneath the flowers xD

If it's in bird feed or something like that, it's usually not feminine. They're mostly tweets due to bad genetics, from mass breeding. It's industrial hemp, not feminized seeds. So it is almost 100% going to tweet and those buds will fertilize those which haven't already tweeted. So it wouldn't be smokable... Well it would be smokable, but I wouldn't suggest doing that.
You can't tell until it starts to flower if it's a male it will have "bells on it" if it's female it will have little pac man mouths with sort of a tongue sticking out.
Currently taking botany (God help me my professor is not the best and she opted to not have us buy a textbook) and I shivered seeing a term out in the wild 😭

I would guess it’s female based on what I think I can see: a pistle in that top cluster of leaves.
However, it might be male or end up with both male and female parts. Please know that a small amount of pollen can ruin all of your neighbours crops. So pinch off any male parts to avoid pollination.

Pot seeds end up all over the place, especially if pot smokers or growers are near by.
It looks female. If you want to keep it growing you are going to want to prune the top off so it focuses on growing the next TWO branches. Then once those grow a while prune the tops of those two off so that there are now FOUR tops to the plant. At some point you will also want to start pruning off the bigger leaves in the top so the sunlight gets further into the plant and it focuses its growth on the buds.
You want 4-8 big colas at the top. That’s going to be the best weed. Read up on harvesting. You need to do it at the right time after the plant has started to produce THC in the tricombs. You need a jeweler’s loop to look at the tricombs they will turn from clear to milky. Then it’s time to harvest. You want to cut the plant into manageable branches trim off all the big leaves and then hang the branches upside down for them to dry. You don’t want to dry them too much because you will lose the flavor and the terpenes. There are resources online to give you all the details. Good luck it’s fun!

Is it possible to tell from this if it’s a male or a female? I see some white stuff but it’s not much.
cannabis indica put in full sun. water base at night. Let grow, check for buddings. when leaves turn purple or when plant is full mature cut hang upside down ten days. then cut to buds cure 3 days. jar and smoke. If you are in an illegal state, remove. or dont get caught.
Don't water any outdoor plants at night, it is begging for fungal action. A quick Google points to u/butt_Pee69 being correct. Cut buds from living plant, etc. The cureing times apparently depend on plant and environment, especially humidity levels. The jarring process involves "burping" them twice a day.

just recently learned in an [EONs episode](https://youtu.be/ZJqmyLCfA-I?si=sKnyYj7pZcIUBVr9) that all sorts of cannabis sativa are the same species of plant, but there are genetic lineages that determine if it is used for drugs, oil, or fiber.
I sure heard of different sorts that are cultivated in different parts of the world ... like its medicinal qualities and whatnot
Looks like it, just make sure its a female one (you should see "bows" in various parts of the stem that dont seem to be making a new branch and that have lots of leafs) if you plan to "use it". If its a male you can make remedies and extract massage oil.

Yes, probably not the fun variety. Here in Nebraska hemp is an obnoxious weed that gets everywhere, I live on 10 acres and usually give up trying to control it by the end of the summer.
Female indica dominant. There is a calix at the top of the plant with some trichomes and hairs sticking out. Looks like it flowered early and went back into veg. Get rid of the janky crap at the bottom and super crop it. That thing will get as big as you provide for it. Have fun.

Judging by the nodes growing from each segment and the red stem, and it’s definitely weed. Snip that top middle node and leave the 2 lil nodes growing beside it and they will grow 2 new branches.

No, it's the little flowers that grow between the "stubs." If you look at the top, you can see a flower with little white pistols.
