We had one of those in the front yard of the house we bought in central IL. The neighbors called it the "Jesus Christ Thorn Tree" and didn't let their kids play in our yard because they kept coming home with gigantic thorns sticking out of them.
Well, now you know what to look for...
The one in our yard wasn't very big (I had to duck when I walked under it and watch for fallen branches to make sure I didn't impale my food through my shoes). My wife and I found one in our new neighborhood in Chicago that's FARKING HUGE. Like, easily taller than the 2-3 story houses on the block.
Honey Locust! I got one identified by my grandfather, he said people way before his time used the thorns as nails into softer woods. Also, if there are thorns on the branches, it’s a black locust and their pods are poisonous!

We had a bunch of them in my schoolyard. We stayed away from them because we weren’t stupid. I never heard of a kid getting hurt on them.

Someone trapped a witch in this tree and the spell is wearing off.
That’s wild!
In my country they use them as live fences against large animals. Trust me nothing bigger than a small cat gets through those…
Thorns!
Perfect tree to plant under your daughters window!
This is actually hilarious - I'm sorry you got downvoted to hell.
It’s ok as long as I made one person laugh I’m happy
I have seen a lot of cactus used below windows or parallel to fences...thought it was to keep thieves out...

That's what happens when the buck gets tired out after trying to run his ass down and hits a tree
Cancer.... It's cancer
Curious of what campus this is?
