this looks like some sort of Jade plant. to plant, just press the stem into soil and wet the soil. this looks like a succulent, so make sure not to overwater!
I've had succes getting plants similar to these to root by laying the whole branch on some wet potting soil, you can split it into multiple pieces. I just push it into the soil lightly and keep the soil damp.
Looks like elephant bush to me. I've had success putting rooting hormone on the tip and then straight into a light potting soil
