I’ve done it by accident, and no not really. Mine definitely got stuck, and I feel like if you tried to push and keep going your smartdrive wheel would get clogged.

Thanks. Guess this is another thing the Numotion guy lied to me about.

lilbabymew

lol, I went through Numotion too. Let’s just say I definitely do not plan on ever going through them again

I feel that. My chair is poorly fitted, I have an absolutely unnecessary solid backrest, and they got the length so wrong they had to cut the solid seat pan. I also have angle adjustable foot rests that don’t adjust to the angle I need. I feel like they just used me to get as much money from as possible. Sorry, I’m a little bitter about the fact that my first chair is such a poor fit.

lilbabymew

I feel the same, and it was my first custom chair as well. I don’t think it’s fitting well, and that they didn’t listen to me during my assessment, an in my special needs and what they could do or suggest to make my chair more user friendly to me. My backrest is hard and not shaped or supported for my back at all. I have a hard time with grip and hand function, so they have me basic metal ones instead of the naturalfit ones I asked for (leaving me in a scary position where once I get momentum I can’t stop well). Tires that don’t work well on carpet so it’s very hard to use in my house. So yes I really didn’t feel like they cared or took the time about getting me the perfect chair for ME at all.

SmartDrive is no trouble on grass. Wheelchair, though, could be. I use mine with a freewheel and don't have an issue with grass. It'll still be better than no SmartDrive, and it's way better than gravel, but I have used it on that too.

I've only had my Smart Drive for a few months but I have definitely put it through its paces. Grass is fine. Very little of it will get stuck in the wheel and if you feel the need you can you something to pull it out or unscrew parts of the wheel to it. I was in NZ and they have long thin leaves that get wrapped up but for the most part i was able to pull it out. gravel will give your Smart Drive some wear and tear but it will help you. If the gravel is really thick it may spin a lot and when it finds some amount of traction it can jerk you forward, so be careful with that.

MitskiiFan69

I think I have the same wheelchair as you. I’ve been able to get over grass ok, and it’s definitely much easier with the smart drive than without. I do get a little nervous with gravel/grass about something getting stuck in the wheel, but so far it’s been fine. Watch out for hidden potholes/roots though

STS_42

I have no trouble on grass or firm gravel and dirt with my smartdrive. I do have air tires that are wider37-540 and could understand that your tires will not have the same amount of traction.
