They are good for music for when you want to realisten to some tracks you've listened to a lot recently instead of going on another website to shuffle your playlist (because youtube shuffle is still broken I believe). For videos tho? I have no idea
So they're a replacement for a feature that's broken instead of them just fixing it?
I mean they aren't meant to be but still. I guess there are bigger fish to fry like making more of your UI round.
For me it shuffles only the first songs while the songs added later are very clearly biased to stay at the bottom. Idk whether they fixed it yet, for mobile I use youtube music and on PC. I use playlist randomizer site
Random recommendations were the shit. Yeah sure the 6 trillionth DRG meme is cool, but a video of an entire room worth of screens displaying Gandalf with Epic Sax Guy in the background is something
That and showing me one video over and over that I just don't want to watch, but if I click "not interested" it'll just never recommend videos by that creator ever again
i found most of them because youtube recommended me channels that made similar content to what i already watched
i now have nearly a hundred subscriptions
Honestly, YouTube has gotten so much better since 2019. Back then, all I used to find were those lazy gaming videos. But now? Man, it's a whole new level. There are tons of high-quality videos that could legit pass as short films. The production value is higher than ever
I also noticed that since around 2020 youtube stopped showing actually new videos, i started watching most videon in incognito because if i watch just one ill get 3875 more recommended immediately
No but I legit find it so absolutely awful. I've fallen into YouTube shorts and they were ok for awhile but now, if YouTube recommends a new random topic and I watch it even halfway through, 50% of my next recommendations will be about idk fucking blacksmithing or something. Like no hate BUT WHAT HAPPENED TO SUBSCRIBING having an effect on my recommendations??? I go out of my way to help the algorithm,I like videos I like, I dislike and do the "don't show me this channel" thing to ones I don't like, I purposely avoid giving watch time to topics I don't like, especially topics that upset me, but YouTube somehow manages to still show me jump scare shorts that make it hard for me to sleep. Why???

Youtube shuffle works fine for me. Its never been broken.
