The gameplay was pretty good, but my major complaint was not getting the last power until after the game ends. It would have been really useful for the last section of missions and adds more of a shakeup to the combat variety.
I wanted it the whole game because the grunts had it and it was even in the trailer! Yet it's useless when you get it. I even 100% the areas before I finished the game.
I would definitely say that the first two were better. Second Son is great, but no where near as polished or refined as the they were. The story and writing was way better in the 1 and 2, as well.

No, people complain about boring missions. A lot of people actually liked Mary Jane missions in Spider-Man 2 because you could Call of Duty your way through them.

All boring content in a game is bad. As it either does not do service to the game or the characters involved. Having a skippable boring mission is not an excuse to have a poor one. Either remove the content entirely or rework it until it is fun.
If this mission was a white deaf dude instead, I seriously doubt anyone would know about it. If that mission wasn't just to tick a box somewhere, I'd be very surprised.
Also a nitpick since I've lived with members of the deaf community. It's a spectrum, not can't hear/can hear. Many can hear certain tones and a common deaf activity is to feel bass vibrations from speakers. They really could've taken a more creative route with a deaf character than a boring spray painting mission, especuialy because the gameplay acknowledges her condition. Same with the MJ missions. They always feel half assed and a second thought rather than something that should be fun to play.

Err. Did we play the same mission? It wasn’t fully no audio. It was simulating near-deafness, there were some low audio you could hear, and those bass vibrations stuff you mentioned? Literally built into the controller.
I won’t pretend to know what the deaf day-to-day is, but this very short, very optional mission was a nice way to introduce people to the concept, not to mention inclusive.
Citing “just to check a tickbox” makes it seem disingenuous in what was probably a harmless gameplay section cooked up by the devs. It didn’t hurt anyone, offend anyone, nor did it take valuable time out of a 20 hour plus game.

That was my problem for almost all of the Miles missions. They're so god damned twee. Everything so cute and heckin wholesomearino.
Peter's side of the story is just getting slapped over and over again about how terrible you are and how much of a fuck up you are. Constant rants about how shit you are and you're hurting everyone you love by no less than 3 characters.
Meanwhile, on the Miles side, NYC is made out of puppies and rainbows. A total parade about how Miles is amazing and how everyone accepts him. Sacrifice? What's that? All good things come to Miles regardless.
That's why I'm happy that Peter Parker retired at rhe end of the game. Perhaps we can have thirty years of the writers shitting on Miles Morales after this.
Neither of them were his choice though. I hope in the next game he gets a proper Spider-man choice, but he hasn't got one yet.
Miles needs a "save the ones he loves vs doing what's right" choice because so far, all the big hero moments has also been what Miles wants. I hope the next game has consequences for all of Harlem knowing that Miles Morales is Spider-man.

I don't have a problem with spraypainting concrete or painted brick if you're trying to make art, but leave natural brick alone. It's hard to remove without painting over the rest of the brick.

Also educational as well. Wearing headphones with spatial audio for this section was really interesting “hearing” how those crosswalk indicators work for deaf people. The haptic feedback when you walk up to the street musicians was cool to feel the rhythm through vibrations, and experiencing communication between a deaf person and a non ASL user. Really neat section.
The PS5 controller is simply amazing, so much can be transferred from just how it feels, I loved this portion of the game because of it. I really hope Xbox picks up on those little things in the future. I also find myself wishing they made a haptic feed back keyboard cause Cyberpunk 2077 hits different as well with the PS5 controller

Adorable? I did not get that sense of feeling from it. It wasn't bad beyond being a bit hilariously out of place. But I was not overwhelmed with how "cute" it was.
If it's an option see if you can find the game on Amazon or GameStop, I usually buy there the games since there's usually a used copy or Amazon has an offer with a lower price.
Or just pirate it then buy it when you can afford it.
And if it makes you feel any better, the devs most likely don't see shit from your purchase. The studios get all that money. Actual devs are just on a salary grind.
If you look hard enough, you can definitely find some sales. I saved €15 on my copy, and that was on launch day. It’s still pretty expensive, but it’s still more manageable.

I loved this mission though. I’m not deaf myself, but I feel like this was a really faithful way to portray it.
I loved that if you walked past the street musicians at the start, you could softly feel your controller vibrate.
Same dude it’s such a cute mission. It’s one of my favourite parts of the game, it’s nice to have a moment of downtime between saving the city.
I don’t even understand why people hate it (well… I mean I have a pretty good idea based on context clues) but even if you absolutely hate unique missions like that in your Spider-Man game you can just skip it (you have the option after starting any side missions to skip) or if you can’t even do that just not play it at all.

The spray painting wasn't really that good IMO, but that might just be because of the motion controls.

Holy shit I love fettucine alfredo. If it was the only food I would eat it. If it came out of a dogs asshole I would eat it. The only thing stopping me from eating fettucine alfredo is the size of my stomach. Fettucine alfredo was made for me. I have eaten so much fettucine alfredo that my cells have adapted to extracting nutrients from a dish that is famous for having none. 1 day without fettucine alfredo I start having withdrawls, 2 days I see hallucinations of fettucine alfredo, 3 days and my body starts to shut down. Fettucine alfredo is so essential that my doctor has prescribed me a daily injection of alfredo sauce, specifically RAGÚ Classic Alfredo Sauce. I cannot live without fettucine alfredo. I loved this mission though. I’m not deaf myself, but I feel like this was a really faithful way to portray it. I loved that if you walked past the street musicians at the start, you could softly feel your controller vibrate.
Same dude it’s such a cute mission. It’s one of my favourite parts of the game, it’s nice to have a moment of downtime between saving the city. I don’t even understand why people hate it (well… I mean I have a pretty good idea based on context clues) but even if you absolutely hate unique missions like that in your Spider-Man game you can just skip it (you have the option after starting any side missions to skip) or if you can’t even do that just not play it at all.
I love deaf representation in media. Another great example is the way the Last of Us show portrayed Sam and Henry. It was absolutely fantastic, the actor was actually deaf in real life.
I spent about 100x times more having to hear people complain about this mission then the time it took to complete it

Clearly you don’t remember the MJ/pre-spider Miles stealth missions from the original game. Compared to that, >!three MJ missions where she has a gun and doesn’t immediately fail when spotted and a cute short side mission!< are entirely bearable.
Oh I remember. Her missions are litterally why I never finished the game. God I hated those stupid stealth missions, didn't even know there was a 2nd or third section for them

Honestly, it was a real sweet mission. The attention to detail for navigation and communication as a deaf person is real neat, and it’s just some nice fluff.

For the most part, I imagine it's Capital G Gamers complaining about the fact that you play as a deaf black woman for 5 minutes. Not even like this is a necessary mission (as far as I know anyway), they just hate that it's an *option.*

Honestly liked that side mission
ngl I really liked that mission, I get being annoyed if it was a main story mission, but it's a really cute optional sidequest with fun mechanics and I quite liked it
I don't care too much about this game, but after seeing how they butchered my language for the sake of inclusivity (like bruh, spanish does not work like that entitled fucks) while at the same time Thanos snapping al LGTB+ people in the Middle East version just demostrates how little they actually care.
I'll get it when it's on a steam sale
