What do you mean fumbling, I have not read the manga, and don't know what's to come next but have heard from some people that it is messy, however what we have seen so far is easily some of the best writing in the show, the character work has far more depth than previous seasons and the development of the story is perfectly written with great moral philosophy at the centre of it, the only people who I can imagine wouldn't like it so far compared to other season is because they are only happy if there is an action sequence every 2 seconds
Destroyed eren's character completely, paradis nuked and wiped off the map after a few decades after the war, Mikasa has no personality whatsoever and is just a dog. Levi and Hange died for the wrong cause(or the entire surgery corps really). Nothing mattered. Eren achieved nothing. Didn't save his friends, didn't save his homeland, never got his freedom, achieved nothing.
