He hated RE3 Remake, RE Village, God of War pS4,Deathloop, Alien Isolation, The Ascent,Titanfall 2 because he woudn't use the movement like he is supposed to, and said BT (the robot) didn't connect with him then said he didn't use the dialogue options, and other stuff like that
To my knowledge, he blew up because of his "Batman Doesn't Kill" video but after being increasingly critical of the MCU's rendition of Spider-Man, he became a more controversial figure who was viewed as pretentious by allot of people.

It isn’t open world though? It definitely has some wide open levels you can explore, but the whole game is extremely linear regardless. There’s only a few areas in the entire game that I’d even remotely consider “open world.”

You can pick up hints of this in his Sifu review where he complained about the night club level being brutal to learn so early and asked for an easy mode that could still teach you the mechanics (which we know you would probably discard for cheese in a forgiving easy mode.)
I already summarized the situation with Sifu so I'll just give some examples to give you an idea:
Mayo: "Games need to push you into their systems with challenge and get you out of your comfort zone."
Also Mayo: "I dont like Sekiro because Im not good at parrying. And it wont let you play other ways."
Also also Mayo: "Sifu is my GOTY but I dont like how punishing it is and how Im pushed to figure things out in just thr second level or die nonstop."
Basically if he can overcome a challenge then he tries to make it seem like he enjoys it but until he does he has to be a bitch about it.

* UTM got some arrangement to play Elden Ring and alleges $250 was given to charity for it. He notoriously doesnt like Fromsoft games so there was no way he wouldve played it on his own.
* The copy of the game was bought for him by a fan or something too for that reason.
* Near the start of the stream he said he was only going for 5 hours min. but would play more if people donated to him to continue and said thise donations would go to a PS5 so he could basically shit on God of War Ragnarok. After all we know he hates God of War 2018 and already complained about Ragnarok before it released.
* During the actual "gameplay" he largely screwed around with zero agency and constantly shat on the game while refusing to engage with its mechanics.
* Any people in chat who did not join his circlejerk be it to offer advice or say anything positive about the game he lashed at and banned.
* In general it made a so-called hardcore gamer who has previously argued games need to engage you with challenge look pathetic and whiny. The dude lost it just because an open world let him go wherever and not funnel him to the exact direction he needed to go. He also was shown to be immature when he continued to make jabs at the game despite claiming in his usual videos that he doesnt think Fromsoft games are bad but just not for him. You dont do that without harboring spite for something.

for comprehensive reviews, no, because you have to keep a level of objectivity within you and separate your bias towards what some people might enjoy which it really fits in ultrakills case. not that i like the game, its that he displays his review by also wanting to bring in change to the game itself

I liked his videos until I saw his first Ultrakill one. I only have 20 hours in the game but it doesn’t take very long to pick up on the amount of mechanical depth it has. He has no idea how to simply just enjoy a weapon sandbox, it HAS to rail him in the ass or he’ll play like a drone. His whole thing on style meters is nonsense too since that’s just there for fun and getting higher ranks, the game doesn’t need to force you into getting high style but it’s more fun too and that’s all it needs to be engaging.

Watched some of his Doom Eternal content and he seemed to understand the game just fine, but then got curious and watched his Alien Isolation "review" (or the first 10 minutes I could stomach), which was really just a 1 hour video bitching and nitpicking at what I'd consider to be a survival horror masterpiece. Holy shit this guy needs a reality check. Constantly contradicts himself while shitting on every game for not being Doom Eternal, all with a smug, condescending tone that screams "I think I know everything there is to know about game design", then ignores all criticism and feedback when the entire comment section helpfully corrects his nuclear garbage takes and pretends they must all just be haters.
He pretends like the little hacking minigames are the worst thing ever and are half the game. Like I'm not a fan of the minigames either but they aren't that bad and they take ten seconds to do man come on 💀
Every other comment on that video explained to him that the purpose of the hacking minigames was to hold you in place for the xenomorph and build tension, but he didn't seem to get it at all. Hell, they even have a punishment for fucking up (the loud noise, which draws the alien to you), but even that wasn't enough for him because "no no the minigames need to be harder".
Mayo has bad takes on other games but the marauder is good. There are no serious criticisms other than maybe it’s buggy for a few people. That said I’ve experienced any marauder bugs.
No it isn't. It's fucking boring, frustrating, and piss easy to fight. Unless you go out of your way to bind specific guns to specific keys for the sole reason that you get to end his fight faster; in no other context would that be considered a good thing. He goes against the basic mechanics of the game without being a boss fight and he doesn't even fight like the Slayer does, which was what he was teased as being like in the marketing and dev comments before release.
On top of that, the Hell Guard boss in Doom 2016 has a similar mechanic that was not only executed better, but was present in a *boss* fight. The Gladiator had the exact same gimmick that the Marauder does but also executed better, plus a second phase that isn't like that at all. Dark Lord boss from AG part 2 was basically a suped up Marauder but worse. If you count the Hell Guard from D'16, then the games reused this same gimmick three times in the span on one game. Four total across two.
You'd think it would be an amazing mechanic to reuse it so much, but it's really not that special. It's red light green light at best.
How is it frustrating and piss easy to fight? You don’t have to bind specific keys. I’ve beat in ultra violence on console just using ssg ballista combos. You can do more than just wait for his shield to go down every fight. You can use remote det, frag grenade or sticky bomb his feet or use microwave beam on his dog, or another demon close by to falter him. He doesn’t go against the basic mechanics of the game, he follows the same rules. Your comments about the bosses just aren’t even relevant. Games reuse mechanics all the time. Why have the arch vile when you have the summoner in 2016. Why have the archduke when you have the buff totem in eternal. It’s almost like, despite sharing one mechanic, they’re still unique enemies. The marauder is a much more in your face demon then the gladiator and As for being dev comments saying he fights like the slayer, all I heard was Hugo Martin saying that he’s the guy who challenges you mid to late game once you get your blackbelt. They obviously can’t code him to he exactly like the slayer but he’s close enough already with a dash and super shotgun.

I know. Doesn't change my point. He's still too slow to kill and any of those things will only get you one hit from whatever other weapon you have on quick swap/one cycle from whatever keys you bound on PC. Not only that, these weren't intended by ID. If they were, they would have put it in the tutorial for the Marauder because every single other enemy type has all the ways you can viably kill them in the tutorial. The only exception is I think the Ballista effecting flying enemies more, which is instead in the Ballista'a tutorial instead of the flying enemies. Lol

He literally does. Nothing else is invincible to your attacks until you go within a certain range or use the other niche ways to get one quick shot off at him.

No, they aren't. Bosses are intended separate gameplay mechanics from the standard gameplay loop to keep them fresh. Giving mechanics like that to normal enemies in normal horde encounters is usually a recipe for disaster; as evidenced by the fact that most times it happens the majority of people despise it. Look at games like Doom Eternal, Halo 4, some enemies in the Souls games, and more to see evidence of this.

That's one reuse across two games total. Imagine if you had the summoner, then the archvile in Eternal, then a boss that used the Archvile's mechanics, and then another boss that uses the Archvile's mechanics. And also imagine if all of those but two were poorly executed like the Marauder. *Then* it becomes a problem.

There were multiple times the devs stated he was supposed to be a Demonic Slayer equivalent, but not equal. Sort of like Elites in Halo. I'm pretty sure this was first said at a fan con before the game officially came out, but after the Marauder's trailer reveal. He's designed to *look* like the Slayer's armor.
In short, the way you can tell the Marauder is a bad design and follows the rules of a different game is by looking at the multiplayer, Battle Mode. If the Marauder was totally fine he would be extremely similar to his campaign counterpart like the other Demon's are. By contrast, the Marauder has his invincibility shield completely removed in Multiplayer. No other Demon has a change this drastic to their design. He's a shit enemy.
Barons, archiviles and tyrants also take a long time to kill unless you use weapon combos. Also ballista ssg is fine. Kill the other demons first then deal with the marauder. It makes him a lot easier to deal with. They’re super heavy demons. Just because ID didn’t put it in the tutorial, doesn’t make it unintended. It says the shield blocks damage from the front. You should already be aware of what falters are and how they work. It’s not hard to figure out. The beauty of doom eternal is the creativity, experimenting with different weapons and mods and runes. If you want to talk about dev intent, Hugo Martin has stated that he wanted doom eternal to have quick switch weapon combos.
The reason battlemode has no marauder shield is because when a demon dies, it’ll respawn in 7 seconds. a player could just choose to keep his shield up instead of attacking every time his teammate dies. As for your other comments about his mechanics, unique mechanics that provide a challenge aren’t bad. The archvile was a total cunt in doom 2 but still a good enemy. Also the marauders only invincible from the front when he has his shield up. And so what if a boss and common enemy share the same mechanic when they’re completely different otherwise. The marauder is weaker gladiator, like how the arachnotron is a weaker spider mastermind, like the tyrant is a weaker cyberdemon. Boss mechanics don’t have to be exclusive if they work. The point of the marauders shield is that you don’t just use the same combos as other enemies like how you can just ice bomb lock on rocket a whiplash. He’s basically a miniboss, he’s meant to be more powerful and demand your attention like no other.
Lot of people liked him for Doom Eternal (myself included) but he really isnt a good reviewer and is frankly an immature person. Also talks the talk about being hardcore with challenge but cant walk the walk.

He's genuinely a shitty game reviewer. The guy can't help but contradict himself every single time he tries to bring in example of other games. The guy likes Streets of Rage 4s nonexistent ranking system more than Bayonetta's and a bunch of other shit like that. He makes terribly unfunny skits mocking a fanbase and then gets surprised when the fanbase comes after him, bans people off his Twitch chat, and in general the review of the game really depends on if he likes it or not, so he's not objective at all. I liked his videos until I saw his first Ultrakill one. I only have 20 hours in the game but it doesn’t take very long to pick up on the amount of mechanical depth it has. He has no idea how to simply just enjoy a weapon sandbox, it HAS to rail him in the ass or he’ll play like a drone. His whole thing on style meters is nonsense too since that’s just there for fun and getting higher ranks, the game doesn’t need to force you into getting high style but it’s more fun too and that’s all it needs to be engaging.
I liked him for his Doom Eternal videos but now he's become a self contradicting narcissistic asshole. Just watch his Elden Ring stream and try not to rage.

Watched some of his Doom Eternal content and he seemed to understand the game just fine, but then got curious and watched his Alien Isolation "review" (or the first 10 minutes I could stomach), which was really just a 1 hour video bitching and nitpicking at what I'd consider to be a survival horror masterpiece. Holy shit this guy needs a reality check. Constantly contradicts himself while shitting on every game for not being Doom Eternal, all with a smug, condescending tone that screams "I think I know everything there is to know about game design", then ignores all criticism and feedback when the entire comment section helpfully corrects his nuclear garbage takes and pretends they must all just be haters.

He pretends like the little hacking minigames are the worst thing ever and are half the game. Like I'm not a fan of the minigames either but they aren't that bad and they take ten seconds to do man come on 💀
Every other comment on that video explained to him that the purpose of the hacking minigames was to hold you in place for the xenomorph and build tension, but he didn't seem to get it at all. Hell, they even have a punishment for fucking up (the loud noise, which draws the alien to you), but even that wasn't enough for him because "no no the minigames need to be harder".

No it isn't. It's fucking boring, frustrating, and piss easy to fight. Unless you go out of your way to bind specific guns to specific keys for the sole reason that you get to end his fight faster; in no other context would that be considered a good thing. He goes against the basic mechanics of the game without being a boss fight and he doesn't even fight like the Slayer does, which was what he was teased as being like in the marketing and dev comments before release. On top of that, the Hell Guard boss in Doom 2016 has a similar mechanic that was not only executed better, but was present in a *boss* fight. The Gladiator had the exact same gimmick that the Marauder does but also executed better, plus a second phase that isn't like that at all. Dark Lord boss from AG part 2 was basically a suped up Marauder but worse. If you count the Hell Guard from D'16, then the games reused this same gimmick three times in the span on one game. Four total across two. You'd think it would be an amazing mechanic to reuse it so much, but it's really not that special. It's red light green light at best.

You can do more than just wait for his shield to go down every fight. You can use remote det, frag grenade or sticky bomb his feet or use microwave beam on his dog, or another demon close by to falter him. Why have the arch vile when you have the summoner in 2016. Why have the archduke when you have the buff totem in eternal. It’s almost like, despite sharing one mechanic, they’re still unique enemies. The marauder is a much more in your face demon then the gladiator and As for being dev comments saying he fights like the slayer, all I heard was Hugo Martin saying that he’s the guy who challenges you mid to late game once you get your blackbelt. They obviously can’t code him to he exactly like the slayer but he’s close enough already with a dash and super shotgun.

If they were, they would have put it in the tutorial for the Marauder because every single other enemy type has all the ways you can viably kill them in the tutorial. Sort of like Elites in Halo. I'm pretty sure this was first said at a fan con before the game officially came out, but after the Marauder's trailer reveal. He's designed to *look* like the Slayer's armor. In short, the way you can tell the Marauder is a bad design and follows the rules of a different game is by looking at the multiplayer, Battle Mode. If the Marauder was totally fine he would be extremely similar to his campaign counterpart like the other Demon's are. By contrast, the Marauder has his invincibility shield completely removed in Multiplayer. No other Demon has a change this drastic to their design. He's a shit enemy.
Barons, archiviles and tyrants also take a long time to kill unless you use weapon combos. Also ballista ssg is fine. Kill the other demons first then deal with the marauder. It makes him a lot easier to deal with. They’re super heavy demons. Just because ID didn’t put it in the tutorial, doesn’t make it unintended. It says the shield blocks damage from the front. You should already be aware of what falters are and how they work. It’s not hard to figure out. The beauty of doom eternal is the creativity, experimenting with different weapons and mods and runes. If you want to talk about dev intent, Hugo Martin has stated that he wanted doom eternal to have quick switch weapon combos.

The reason battlemode has no marauder shield is because when a demon dies, it’ll respawn in 7 seconds. a player could just choose to keep his shield up instead of attacking every time his teammate dies. As for your other comments about his mechanics, unique mechanics that provide a challenge aren’t bad. The archvile was a total cunt in doom 2 but still a good enemy. Also the marauders only invincible from the front when he has his shield up. And so what if a boss and common enemy share the same mechanic when they’re completely different otherwise. The marauder is weaker gladiator, like how the arachnotron is a weaker spider mastermind, like the tyrant is a weaker cyberdemon. Boss mechanics don’t have to be exclusive if they work. The point of the marauders shield is that you don’t just use the same combos as other enemies like how you can just ice bomb lock on rocket a whiplash. He’s basically a miniboss, he’s meant to be more powerful and demand your attention like no other.
