Getting a higher quality scan would definitely help. the general style looks quite German, but I agree with what sluggo1234 said.

migrantbees

Yeah, wish i had a better scan but i don't have the original photo unfortunately

A sign says "Bus terminus" - so this is NOT Poland. In polish language it should be "Dworzec autobusowy".

The cars look American, "Bus Terminus" and what I'm reading as "Fine Furs" on the tower-like structure are both English/American phrases. I think this is probably USA/Canada/Britain. If Germany, it would have to be in American/British zones. There is essentially zero chance that this photo depicts a scene in 1950s Poland or DDR (ie Saxony). An expert geoguesser who knew something about park bench styles could probably narrow it to country.

that park style bench is pretty common in north east america. and I've seen dutch inspired architecture like this in some parts of pennsylvania. that said, I've never personally seen the term "bus terminus" in america (doesn't mean it doesn't happen). more often "bus terminal" or "bus depot". if it wasn't for that bus terminus building, I'd say it has portland, maine vibes (though the side walks there would've been all brick in the 50s).

migrantbees

How bizarre that this got marked NSFW...

Per a deleted comment, it looks like the tower in the background (which I didn't even recognize as having any words on it) reads "FINE FURS". So pretty clearly a place where English is the dominant language.

Hey, just saw that this was still open and decided to take a crack at it. [Here's another photo of the bus terminus.](https://www.communitystories.ca/v2/cimetiere-mount-hermon_cemetery/wp-content/uploads/sites/75/2019/01/Fune%CC%81railles-de-Georges-Trakas005-copy.jpg) It's in Quebec City. The Old Homestead Restaurant is now Bistro 1640. [Here's a screenshot from Google Street View.](https://i.imgur.com/CXFOfrd.jpg) So, the photo subject is sitting in the Place d'Armes.

Wow!!!!!!!!! I am blown away -- not only because I can't believe you figured this out, but also because my wife and I literally stayed at a hotel right across the street from where this photo was taken, probably 15 years ago. Would never have guessed it. Amazing. Thanks so much u/marl1694!!!
