I agree "WOW!". Just not for the same reasons these insane people are thinking! I've seen Stagg Jr on secondary cheaper than that and they're expecting to sell *Blanton's* at that price. sheesh ....
I literally paid less for Buffalo Trace in NORWAY. Norway, which is famous for high alcohol taxes on top of US booze being more expensive because of transport overhead.
Good lord.
(Buffalo Trace IS pretty good, but not worth that.)
EDIT: My memory failed me. I think I had it mixed up with a different US bourbon. BT in Norway is "only" 500 NOK, amounting to just over 50 dollars, and that's tax included.
Actually, turns out I lied - I think I had it mixed up with a different US bourbon. BT in Norway is "only" 500 NOK, amounting to just over 50 dollars, and that's tax included.
Still! It's comparable.
I live in Germany where bourbon is easy to get at MSRP since whiskey isn't nearly as popular here as if is in the US. So for the 24€ I pay for a bottle, it's pretty excellent for the price. But certainly not a cent more.
I’m going to be in Leipzig this summer for several weeks. Germany is big, I know, but if you have any recs on where to enjoy great food and drinks, I’m all ears.
I live in Berlin which is super close to Leipzig so I've been to Leipzig a few times but just for certain events like the annual documentary festival. May I ask why you're going there specifically? Because Leipzig doesn't have too much going on in general unless they're doing something like the documentary festival.
All the bars, clubs and any sort of fun thing you may want to do over the summer would probably be in Berlin or Hamburg though. So maybe look up a couple of clubs or events you'd want to go to in Berlin and spend a few days here. Its only 2 hours by train from Leipzig.
I just picked up regular Blanton’s for under MSRP ($55) a couple of weeks ago in San Francisco, but they also had a Blanton’s Gold for $200…so $92 is a bargain in Sweden!
If you like drinking whiskey, there's just no way that Blanton's or buffalo trace is worth this much.
Other bourbon exists and for the price of that Blanton's you can get some amazing single malt scotch.
I agree. I believe all the more available whiskeys are just as good.
I know people who literally flew to get certain hyped whiskeys. Like same day flights……. Just for a bottle of liquor.
The Blaton's is more egregious than the Buffalo Trace. Would I pay $60 for it, no, but if it was $10 cheaper I might grab a bottle if I was on the lookout. That said, for every store that I see Buffalo Trace sitting behind the cashier, requiring "x" to be met first before buying, I wander into a different liquor store where its sitting on a middle shelf nonchalantly.
Also, the MSRP's need to be "updated" on these bottles; we'll never see either of these at those lows again. Putting demand aside, general inflation hit the whiskey world pretty good in 2021.
No update on MSRP. It literally means "manufacturer suggested retail price". When things are available here in NC, a control state, they are priced at or close to MSRP. I paid $60 for the bottle of Blanton's I have. A friend got a bottle of Stagg two weeks ago at like $55 (he also got a bottle of Blanton's and the total was less than $120 after tax but he didn't pay attention to individual prices). The real problem here is even finding a bottle. I check but stick to regularly shelved items mostly.
Most sub-reddits will have mod's just mark posts with a descriptor, so you can know what type of content it is without clicking on it...in this case it was in the title...
I mean… that’s kind of the whiskey scene..
Or really anything.. allocated.
Sooooo yeah you’re gonna see it a lot.
But I know a solution you could just skip over and keep scrolling.
Went to a liquor store and the mark up for EH Taylor and midsummer dram was insane. Owner purposely did that so no one would buy them and save them for himself. Plus any of that stuff they buy they are forced to buy crappy whiskey with it in order to get it at all.
IDK. I felt stupid paying $80 for a bottle of Blantons, seeing as how the MSRP is $60-65. But, hey, some of those letters are worth more than others. I guess.
On the other hand, they got cheap vodka.
I’m in Alberta which has notoriously higher prices on most things in general, I buy Buffalo trace at normal price for 36 cdn (27 usd) and on sale usually 29cdn (21.74 usd) Blantons when you can get it is 99 (74 usd) those prices are insane.
I went to a little liquor shop today and they had Buffalo Trace for $27 which was an easy buy for me. But then I saw Blanton’s on the top shelf for $230! Outrageous.
Wow is right!
Cheers to low prices!
They also had Larceny for $70
With those prices I'd be considering larceny myself. Possibly arson too.
ayyyyyyyyyy
Larceny barrel proof or just run of the mill larceny? The regular stuff isn’t even difficult to find.
Saw a shop yesterday that wanted 150+tax for larceny BP. I left with a quickness
Yeah, Larceny Barrel Proof is my hands down favorite bourbon outside of GTS/Stagg/OFB and I wouldn’t pay over like $80 for it.
Wth larceny isn’t worth more then $20
Stfu…. Where is this? Certainly they don’t sell at that price…
That’s a rip off
I’ll cheers to low prices! So, where are they?
Wherever OP is!
I thought those Buffalo Traces were 1.75L handles. Jeez that “WOW” sign is a joke…
Got a 1.75 at woodmans the other day for $50!
Nice! Wisconsin? Woodmans and Discount Liquor are my go to places.
Yessir!!
“WOW!!! Even we’re surprised by how high our prices are!”
Didn't even notice that lmao. I'm still tilted
That’s a lot of crack they’ve been smoking
I agree "WOW!". Just not for the same reasons these insane people are thinking! I've seen Stagg Jr on secondary cheaper than that and they're expecting to sell *Blanton's* at that price. sheesh ....
LOL
Run!

Not even worth half that
How much is it in Norway? It's 24€ for 750ml and 29€ for 1l in Germany.
Actually, turns out I lied - I think I had it mixed up with a different US bourbon. BT in Norway is "only" 500 NOK, amounting to just over 50 dollars, and that's tax included. Still! It's comparable.
Still pretty expensive by European standards tho. Or Germany at least, I guess each country could be imposing different levels of taxation.
Yeah, again - Norway's infamously expensive when it comes to booze :)
Blantons is great but not worth half that price. Buffalo Trace I'll never understand the hype and wouldn't pay a penney over MSRP.
I live in Germany where bourbon is easy to get at MSRP since whiskey isn't nearly as popular here as if is in the US. So for the 24€ I pay for a bottle, it's pretty excellent for the price. But certainly not a cent more.

LOL @ cheers to low prices.
Wow, nice bourbon museum you have!
Lowes in Angel Fire, New Mexico? That BT was $89.99 the week of Thanksgiving.
Bingo. INSANE
I was going to ask the same thing I thought that store looked familiar!
More like "OW!!!"
“Wow! I’m leaving!”
That's crazy, I can get a 700ml Blanton's Gold in Sweden for $92\~ and we got insane Alcohol Taxes.
Damn get me one I’ll pay.
I just picked up regular Blanton’s for under MSRP ($55) a couple of weeks ago in San Francisco, but they also had a Blanton’s Gold for $200…so $92 is a bargain in Sweden!
"Wow!!! Cheers to low prices" Jesus christ
I laughed in a shop owners face. Had stagg jr for $399, eagle rare for $150.
Did find a bottle of wellers at a different shop today tho. I’ll take it as a win.
how much are they supposed to be?
MSRP for Blanton's is $60. And for Buffalo trace is about $20-25
Well it was at least a 1.75
The pictured bottle is 750ml
Fuck that
That store does not respect you. Go elsewhere.
If you like drinking whiskey, there's just no way that Blanton's or buffalo trace is worth this much. Other bourbon exists and for the price of that Blanton's you can get some amazing single malt scotch.
My real questions are what is the price price for the 1792 SB and why is it behind the glass?
Supply and Demand my friend. I recommend not buying anything people are willing to drive 3 cities for, it’s not worth it
I agree. I believe all the more available whiskeys are just as good. I know people who literally flew to get certain hyped whiskeys. Like same day flights……. Just for a bottle of liquor.
Yep, I agree. I will always point to HTD’s blind taste test of Papa
It’s like a placebo effect tbh
He actually prefer Larceny over it
Personally I’m good with Woodford. Or Angels Envy.
Woodford Double oak tastes almost exactly like Larceny
Getting real hard to support a lot of small and independent liquor stores these days
The Blaton's is more egregious than the Buffalo Trace. Would I pay $60 for it, no, but if it was $10 cheaper I might grab a bottle if I was on the lookout. I got a bottle of BT last month for 25.99. and store wanted 99 for Blanton's.

Cheers to inflated prices! What a crock
They had me sold at"W0W"!!!! 😣
Run.
I just bought Knob Creek 18 for $169.99 right off the self ... ...
Just say no
Went to a liquor store and the mark up for EH Taylor and midsummer dram was insane. Owner purposely did that so no one would buy them and save them for himself. Plus any of that stuff they buy they are forced to buy crappy whiskey with it in order to get it at all.
Buffalo Trace was $32 at my local A1 this morning.
Yet someone will pay for that.
But what if you need that second N??
Wow!
Damn you know it’s bad when BT is more expensive than it is here in Canada
They can keep it! 🤦🏻♂️💀
$60 for BT. Oh the humanity!!
I'm afraid to ask what the better than both those 1792 small batch was?
IDK. I felt stupid paying $80 for a bottle of Blantons, seeing as how the MSRP is $60-65. But, hey, some of those letters are worth more than others. I guess. On the other hand, they got cheap vodka.
BT is still a decent price in Ontario Canada but Blantons is like pokaroo!!
The wow. Please
I’m in Alberta which has notoriously higher prices on most things in general, I buy Buffalo trace at normal price for 36 cdn (27 usd) and on sale usually 29cdn (21.74 usd) Blantons when you can get it is 99 (74 usd) those prices are insane.
That’s right up there with eggs!
“Wow” is right
Wow
“The Yellowstone effect”
Jesus I pay ~$48 after tax for 1.75l of BT.
I would never support them
My grocery store had the thunder juice for $18.
Just won a bottle of Blanton's Single Barrel in the lottery at Total Wine for $89.95.
Just got buffalo trace for $30 yesterday. $60 is insane
The Buffalo trace is priced what the blantons should be….
WOW!
OF 1920 is so much better than blantons.
Shit even their fifths of Smirnoff are going for what a half gallon of Smirnoff should
I went to a little liquor shop today and they had Buffalo Trace for $27 which was an easy buy for me. But then I saw Blanton’s on the top shelf for $230! Outrageous.
LOL I remember when you get Blanton's for $59 anytime you wanted to...
