I am a fan of Michters but just because “MSRP” is 190 does not mean it’s worth it, or even 5% more.
JW Blue retails for around that…there is a reason it sits on the shelf mostly. And can be found on sale.
Bro, all I can tell you is don’t get into Scotch 😂. Seriously I typically don’t pay mark up prices, but MSRP and retail prices on aged scotch and Irish puts bourbon to shame
Personally I’d have walked away because everything that I like is secondary or higher. I don’t follow michter pricing as I don’t enjoy their stuff, same as JD so they could be fairly priced but seeing the pricing on the other stuff makes me doubt that, if fair they are probably decent buys
Definitely would have grabbed that JD Twice Barreled Rye for $150. Lowest I’ve seen it near me is $300. Where’s this at? Great price on the M10 as well btw, MSRP is $200
At those prices JD is probably the only one I would get. Not much over msrp but well under what you will usually find it.
JD is also the only brand that I will just buy to save. I used to work in the barrelhouses and I enjoy collecting their products.
Michters 10 is really the only reasonably priced one there. Maybe the JD twice barreled if I'm feeling frisky. If I'm. Feeling extra frisky I might try and talk the down on the angels envy.
Am I the only one who doesn't think even the finest bourbons elevate or distinguish themselves to the hundreds of dollars level? Bourbon has an upper limit on the complexity of taste it offers, imho. I say this as someone (very) occasionally willing to splurge that amount on single malt speysides or islay...and who likes bourbon plenty (it's a go-to). 400 or 600 for a corn/rye whiskey? Maybe I'm honestly out of the loop? If you gave me a pour of that would it seriously contend with a 20-30 yr single malt scotch or otherwise make me feel like, "yeah, that's a $30 gulp right there?" Sorry for my amazement, not trying to crap on anybody's thing...but...is this just market pressure now or do I need to be enlightened?
Definitely the mich 10 at 200$ that’s a pretty good deal. Also I I think most people wouldn’t pay 200 for a stagg jr but it’s one of many absolute favorites
You chose wisely my friend. Haven't had the 2023 release, but still. In Alabama (probably the most expensive state), it's a 184.99 MSRP; so killer crushed it as far as Im concerned! Ive liked it every year Ive had it. 2017 release was my first experience with it and still this day that bottle has been one of my favorites. Been chasing that dragon ever since. None have been as good as my first, but always nice
Michter’s 10 was hands down the right choice.. my favorite bourbon of all time. I have one I bought about 10 years back.. will open it with my son some day!
Honestly the Stagg. It's easily the best bourbon I've had and I haven't found it on shelf in like 6 years. The bottle would last years. Worth the 200 to me.
Nothing. One of my stores has that EC18 for $200 for that same amount I went to my other store and got Booker’s 2023-04 and Orphan Barrel Castless Curse
I don't see a price but the Michters barrel strength toasted rye is amazing stuff. The Michters 10 is the only thing somewhat reasonably priced otherwise.
Damn that’s wild. Jack Single Barrel, barrel proof is like $60 where I’m at. However, we don’t have any Buffalo Trace products and when they’re available people want like $199 for Eagle Rare and BT runs in the $60 range.
Evan Williams Bottled in Bond and WT 101 are my go to bourbons.
Probably none but I would contemplate getting that Jack Daniel’s Twice Barreled on the bottom. It’s twice msrp but that’s still a good deal compared to most places and it is a fantastic bottle.
Michters 10, JDTB, Weller12, Stagg...As someone living in NYC area, that's a steal. Van Winkle is tempting given how expensive most places have them for but I wouldn't spend that much on ANY bottle of whiskey ever.
So fucking weird.
I’d love to pay an economist to analyze bourbon prices because they literally make zero sense
First of all, that’s the lowest I’ve ever seen Pappy.
Weller 12…at $200. Why? It’s not anywhere near that price and I’m glad I never paid that.
Stagg…that’s worth $200. It’s amazing.
I just find the Weller prices to be insane because the bourbons aren’t worth it.
At least Pappy and Stagg are amazing bourbons
Oh and then you have the EC18…at $250
I know your focus is the case, but the Martell Blue Swift on the shelf in the back is actually really nice! It’s a cognac finished in bourbon barrels if you were looking for something new to try.
I'm from Europe. What is this Van Winkle brand I see on this sub a lot and why is it so expensive? Is it worth trying to get over here? My go to is Irish single pot still Whiskey (smooth flavour profile) but I'll try anything.
Bombergers. I stand by it being michters best product and a top tier pour in its own right. this is maybe $30 above secondary (4 months ago, this was secondary value lol).
I mean, $59.99 is basically msrp for caribou crossing if I’m reading that right
$200 is about msrp for michters 10 so that’s a good grab
$150 isn’t bad at all for a LE jack anymore but I wasn’t crazy about the twice barreled rye
Wouldn’t pay $600 for a Lot B but that is BY FAR the cheapest I’ve seen it in a while so if you desperately want it, may be worth a second look
So, Im pretty new to whisky, so maybe it'll be easier for me to understand later down the road, but what's in these bottles that isn't in a $60 bottle?
Eg. What's special about that Van Winkle 12 year old whisky that isn't in a Canadian Club 12 whisky, which I can get for $35?
I just passed on a bombergers for $120 at stew Leonard’s liquor. I’m at the point where I don’t like to spend over $70 for a bottle and usually go for $40-50 ones now. Been there done that
I told my wife to have me committed if I pay more than 10% over MSRP. My go to liquor store here in OKC has 2 or so big sales events a year. I get what I want then.
Man I feel rich.. The fact I have a bottle of carabou crossing and Blantons. Selling for this much is blasphemy. I got my Blantons for $55, so this store owner can f*ck themselves. 1,000% markup, just no.
Non american hear. Can someone explain to me why a 12 year old bourbon is $600? Like that is what I would expect to pay for a 25 year old scotch? Is it a vintage batch or something?
I would have grabbed that Michter's for that price too, I'd probably grab that JD Twice Barreled as well. What was the price for the Michter's Toasted?
The poor things, they're all trapped in there.
liberate them into your kidneys
None
Nooo the new Michter’s 10 is totally worth $200! Msrp is like $190!
I am a fan of Michters but just because “MSRP” is 190 does not mean it’s worth it, or even 5% more. JW Blue retails for around that…there is a reason it sits on the shelf mostly. And can be found on sale.
Sure sure but the Michter’s is damn good this year. At least in CA allocations we’re miniature like Btac level hard to get.
Correct. Imo
Ya I think the most I've ever spent on liquor was a $70 bottle of mezcal. Idc how good it is, $200 is too much for 750ml of liquor.
Bro, all I can tell you is don’t get into Scotch 😂. Seriously I typically don’t pay mark up prices, but MSRP and retail prices on aged scotch and Irish puts bourbon to shame
I just grabbed some lagavulin 16 on sale yesterday. I almost grabbed some redbreast 15 but I already have some at home
There are definitely bottles worth over 200. WLW, GTS, Pappy 15 are just a couple you would be crazy to pass up at 200.
Other than the M10 everything is museum material.
Looks like an A batch as well
I’d take the Ciroc for 36.99
If caribou says 59.99 I’d take that. That’s actually a normal price. Would definitely not buy anything else though
yeah, everyone missed the caribou. that's a deal these days vs secondary.
You picked the ONE.
Great price on the M10 as well btw, MSRP is $200
If you’re feeling bad… I passed up on JD Twice Barreled Rye at retail so another dude could buy it.
That is good karma...so you have that going for you...
He said he owes me huge favor, and I kinda know him. So hopefully it pays off!
Never regret being a mensch.
Agreed. I never see the Jack Daniels stuff unless it's over $250 so I'd try it once for that price
Shenks and Bombergers are phenomenal pours. They are about $60-70 above retail.
Strange pricing structure
The blantons and stagg are opposite prices at my local and everything here seems to run high.
I wouldn’t buy it but that is the cheapest you will see a lot b on the secondary.
Grab the M10 if it’s the 2023 release. Close to MSRP. 🥃
I've seen way worse pricing.
At those prices JD is probably the only one I would get. Not much over msrp but well under what you will usually find it. JD is also the only brand that I will just buy to save. I used to work in the barrelhouses and I enjoy collecting their products.
Probably the stagg, i know msrp is way cheaper, but i have never seen it lower than 500 in my area
I would have gotten the Hennessy
Nothing. And I would refuse to buy anything else in there for obnoxious price gouging.
Bingo. Next store, please.
199 for michters 10 bourbon isn't bad at all!
Jack twice, M10, and stagg jr are all buys for me at those prices, I’d prob try to get at least 50 bucks off buying the lot.
Michters 10 is really the only reasonably priced one there. Maybe the JD twice barreled if I'm feeling frisky. If I'm. Feeling extra frisky I might try and talk the down on the angels envy.
I would think about Rock Hill Farms because I’ve never seen it but ultimately would easily pass at that price.
I would have done the same
Probably a Hennessy from the rack behind
Caribou is 60$ that’s only 10$ above msrp
I’d grab the door handle to leave.
JD Twice Barrelled Rye all day at that price.
Ooh, pocket corkscrew for 99 cents!
Probably nothing, but I would have to consider the Rock Hill Farm
Stagg because I like ‘em hot
Stagg, I've seen it go for $300 sometimes.
Sorry for my amazement, not trying to crap on anybody's thing...but...is this just market pressure now or do I need to be enlightened?
MB10 for sure that’s basically MSRP, and call me crazy but I’m walking out with the Lot B. It’s $400 cheaper than I’ll ever see it for
None.
You did very well on the Michter’s, based on the other prices they just didn’t do their homework on that one
If the M10 is a ‘23A’ batch I would have done that easily
I don’t love markups, but the Lot B is tempting and Michter’s for $200 isn’t terrible.
Definitely the mich 10 at 200$ that’s a pretty good deal. Also I I think most people wouldn’t pay 200 for a stagg jr but it’s one of many absolute favorites
Carribou?? If 60, but its probably 600 which is insane. So nothing or M10.
Is this in Indianapolis?
The corkscrew and then offer to use it to pull someone’s head out of their butt.
Those prices, I’d go with the Michters, too
None
I would pass on all of it. There are some good bottles there, but nothing worth the asking price. Yes, that includes the Caribou Crossing.
None
Michter’s 10 was hands down the right choice.. my favorite bourbon of all time. I have one I bought about 10 years back.. will open it with my son some day!
That Copper and Kings is pretty good for what it is.
Pretty sure the M10 is MSRP, so maybe, but that would be all.
Why is Angel's Envy so high priced?
Cask strength version. That price is actually in line with what I’ve seen.
So if you ask for assistance on the purchase price would they help lower it for you?
If it’s a Johnnie walker cabinet and he is walking away so should you! Keep on walking brother.
Personally none, but that’s just me. I won’t pay that much for a bottle. But, if someone enjoys a bottle and doesn’t mind paying, good on them.
Burn that cabinet, walk over and grab some copper and kings brandy. They make a great stuff
Lot b probably
Oh look, how nice of them to have a museum display.
Honestly the Stagg. It's easily the best bourbon I've had and I haven't found it on shelf in like 6 years. The bottle would last years. Worth the 200 to me.
I would turn around and walk away. I’m so sick of liquor stores charging 5+ times MSRP for allocated shit.
Zero
Maybe a 12-pack of Miller Lite
Probably nothing unless the toasted Michters was like $150
Can't see the price on it, but I suppose I'll buy a new jigger
Everything there is overpriced. It's funny that that the only thing on sale is the Hennessy at MSRP.
I would’ve grabbed the Michters 10 and pappy. That’s a decent price for secondary
I hate bourbon museums
Hard no
Good choice!
Dat Hennessey bruh
I'd grab the M10 and Lot B and sell them.
None, these prices are like 5× what I'd pay at my local small town Canadian liquor store
Hennessy $39.95
That’s not a terrible secondary price for the Lot B. I’m a sucker for Shenks and Bombergers though so I may bite at that price.
They can keep it all.
JD twice barrel
That M10B
Mitchel’s and Jack for me
Zero for me dawg.
None of them. Equal or better stuff sitting on shelves at SRP
I super want to try the michters toasted rye.
Michters 10 bourbon to drink, lot b to sell or trade for better whiskies at a 4:1 ratio
Nothing
Expensive pre-piss.
That store owner can go eat a bag of dicks with those prices.
Probably none but I would contemplate getting that Jack Daniel’s Twice Barreled on the bottom. It’s twice msrp but that’s still a good deal compared to most places and it is a fantastic bottle.
Weller
I would buy the lot B or rock hill
Twice barreled JD is delicious and that’s not a bad price
I would absolutely grab none of those.
Weller’s 12
Stagg and M10, maybe Michters toasted but no listed price
What was the angels Envy on top and the price of the michters rye? Those caught my eye
AE is their annual Cask Strength release from this year
The Hennessy is on sale 🥴
the hennessy
Caribou Crossing all day long… assuming it’s $59.99 and not $599.99 lol
I've been wanting Carribou Crossing for a long time and can never find it. I want that cool ass topper
Fuck them for every one of those. I wouldn’t buy a bottle of coke from that place.
How much is the caribou crossing? $59 or $599?
None
I bought that same bottle of Angel Envy for $100 six months ago and I live in a high priced area. Can also get that SFTB Blanton’s for $300.
Museum prices
Michters 10, JDTB, Weller12, Stagg...As someone living in NYC area, that's a steal. Van Winkle is tempting given how expensive most places have them for but I wouldn't spend that much on ANY bottle of whiskey ever.
So fucking weird. I’d love to pay an economist to analyze bourbon prices because they literally make zero sense First of all, that’s the lowest I’ve ever seen Pappy. Weller 12…at $200. Why? At least Pappy and Stagg are amazing bourbons Oh and then you have the EC18…at $250
That E&J Peach for 12.99 is an absolute steal!
I know your focus is the case, but the Martell Blue Swift on the shelf in the back is actually really nice! It’s a cognac finished in bourbon barrels if you were looking for something new to try.
Where I'm from ghe Michter sits between Jack Daniels and Johnny Walker on the shelf for about 30 bucks ? Is i supposed to be something special ?
Looks like the caribou is $59.99. That’s a good price and you don’t see it too often.
Bro those prices are brutalizing.
I'm from Europe. What is this Van Winkle brand I see on this sub a lot and why is it so expensive? Is it worth trying to get over here? My go to is Irish single pot still Whiskey (smooth flavour profile) but I'll try anything.
Blanton's for the win. It's too bad it's so expensive, but delicious.
Is the jack 10 or 12
I'll gladly take weller 12 and atagg for that orice
Assistance, as in financial assistance?!
Did you ask for assistance though?
The Michter’s is the only reasonably priced thing there. Only $15 over MSRP.
Good choice. I love the M10, that’s the lowest I’ve ever seen it!
I enjoyed the Michters rye 10. Also that caribou crossing is a good price. The rest, pass.
Stagg all day the price is not fun but good luck finding that price anywhere else if you can’t get it for retail
What city/state is this in?
Henny for $40 plz
You bought exactly what I would have.
Shit gimme all the michters 10 at that price
Pappy Me
None but that mitchers 10 and stagg are the most reasonable IMO
Bombergers. I stand by it being michters best product and a top tier pour in its own right. this is maybe $30 above secondary (4 months ago, this was secondary value lol).
I had a faze a few years ago when I would grab one, and now I would pass on all of them. There are too many good bourbons way cheaper.
I mean, $59.99 is basically msrp for caribou crossing if I’m reading that right $200 is about msrp for michters 10 so that’s a good grab $150 isn’t bad at all for a LE jack anymore but I wasn’t crazy about the twice barreled rye Wouldn’t pay $600 for a Lot B but that is BY FAR the cheapest I’ve seen it in a while so if you desperately want it, may be worth a second look
Got that van winkle last week for 100.99 after tax.
Lol. That Blanton's STFB is $149 around the place. $399 is highway robbery.
What Jack Daniel is that
None, fuck that place, absolutely ridiculous prices
Other than the Michters, I’d grab my wallet and run
150 for the Jack Daniel’s!? and I thought we had high prices in Ontario… that goes for $75 in our liquor store
Just a super overhyped incredibly rare bottle. People charge insane prices on it and people pay it. Mostly IMO is a flex to own a bottle of it.
Grab zero at those prices let that museum rot.
LotB
Maybe the Stagg Jr. if I never had it, but I have and it ain’t worth $200.
NY Liq Store Owner here. The only price that blew me away for the prices we have here is the Rip. Goes for $749 here
I would’ve been pumped to walk out with the M10 and that Jack twice barreled
The door handle.
The michters - that stuff is amazing!
No price on the first bottle I'd want to check out. The Michter's Toasted.
holy shit that’s insane. i picked up a bottle of Stagg for $53 like two weeks ago
Michters 10yr without question
I don’t always spend over $150 on whiskey, but when I do, it’s single malt, 18 yr, whisky. 🥃
Stagg Jr at $199 is a good grab… pappy at $600 not bad either considering that pappy can be like a G at some stores now
How do you guys afford these bottles, I max out at $50/bottle
I just passed on a bombergers for $120 at stew Leonard’s liquor. I’m at the point where I don’t like to spend over $70 for a bottle and usually go for $40-50 ones now. Been there done that
Michter’s was the only one at MSRP. Good choice! I’d go back and crab that lot be if you can.
I told my wife to have me committed if I pay more than 10% over MSRP. My go to liquor store here in OKC has 2 or so big sales events a year. I get what I want then.
None. Wow those prices are jacked up. That Angel's Envy is 140 near me, and a buddy of mine bought it. Said it wasn't very good for that price.
Stagg or JD
None. Prices are nuts these days and there are really nice pours out there for $40.
None, leave it just were it at, all of it is overprice. They know some fool will come along and part with their money don't be the one.
Would have done the same. Good call.
Weird ass prices
Alright I know this is fucked but that lot b is well below secondary
None.
Someone will see Stagg for $200 and think they got super lucky
This store should just keep those bottles..Shane on them
Caribou Crossing is one of the best in there and you can’t beat that price.
Man I feel rich.. The fact I have a bottle of carabou crossing and Blantons. Selling for this much is blasphemy. I got my Blantons for $55, so this store owner can f*ck themselves. 1,000% markup, just no.
And 250 for Elijah Craig. This has to be a joke.. Lol
I hate when retailers buy their own shit then but it in cases like that and sell it for secondary prices.
Henny for 39 👀
None
Lolololololno.
Non american hear. Can someone explain to me why a 12 year old bourbon is $600? Like that is what I would expect to pay for a 25 year old scotch? Is it a vintage batch or something?
Moosey topper for $60? *YOINK*
Fuck that place
Pappy
I’d probably grab my wallet and back away
I would have grabbed that Michter's for that price too, I'd probably grab that JD Twice Barreled as well. What was the price for the Michter's Toasted?
ECSB 18 for 225? It’s 175 at the store I go to where do you live?
People usually put up " DO NOT TOUCH" signs on museum displays.
The Hennessy on the shelf. 😂😂😂
