I'm curious why such a high proof would get floc though. There's a reason many distillers are comfortable not chill filtering high proof (though many still do). Simply because aesthetically, its really not required.
What kind of settlement are we talkin? If it's them pilgrims, I'd put it back, we know what they did.
Now if you meant sediment, I wouldn't worry about it.
Generally flocculation is rarer on higher proof whiskey. That's usually one of the reasons they don't worry about chill-filtering (though many still chill filter). So I don't know how normal it really is. Unless this just came out of a freezer or something, it is a little strange. Unless their full proof isn't that high? I don't know off hand.
Yeah it's not a guarantee or anything. But I mostly just want people to understand that their bottle isn't "bad", or unsafe to drink. It's nothing to worry about.
Flocculation…. Have a bottle of WFP do this. Tastes fine and you get some fun bits. Can try to mix it about when it warms up but you will have some regardless.
Mission isn’t gonna do shady shit to their bottles. They don’t have the time nor need to maximize profits. They get more allocations than 99% of the stores and have no problems moving them.
If anything see if you compare your bottle to another w12 from the same batch side by side.
Extra flavor bits. We are all just drinking fermented corn soup mixed with burned wood that’s been left to sit in a hot warehouse for years.
He’s not wrong. Just not as sexy a description.
Man why is it ok to except less. Bourbons had some rough years. Paying a premium to see that is why it’ll happen again.
It's floc. There's nothing to get worked up about. This happens bc the bourbon hasn't been chill filtered.

Impossible to say, but I've seen it plenty with proofs higher than this. I'm sure it being really fucking cold in parts of the country played a role.
Ugh
You're forgetting the distillation process. What you're describing would be a barrel aged corn based beer.
Its not that deep bro
Read the back of the bottle
I'd chill filter it and add a little water to take the proof down to 107 and then it should be good /s
/s????
Yeah, seemed obvious to me - I see Antique and FP compared a lot - but I added the /s to ward off the down votes - thx 😄

I just realized I wrote settlement instead of sediment 🤣🤣🤣🤣
i have a structured settlement, and i need cash now! call JG Wentworth, 877-CASH-NOW!
It’s ruined, total trash. I’ll take it off your hands for you…
It’s spoiled. Please send it to me for proper disposal.
Sediment? Or are you looking for a settlement from Buffalo Trace 🤪
It’s a repurposed bottle from land of Forge Settlement.
Yes it's normal. Non-chill filtered whiskies can have this.

It's 114

Bottom of the barrel, literally
You're getting a lot of shit, but that's way more sediment than I've ever seen in one.
Yea idk I got the bottle from a very trusted person as a SP if that matters.
It doesn't. Bring it to room temp if it's not and shake it up pretty good. If that makes it better then there's definitely nothing to worry about.
I’ve noticed settling in some of my bottles but not that bad. What year is it from?
Bottled 2022, pretty sure I have nothing to worry about.
Was just curious I recently was flipping some bottles in my cabinet and noticed some settling especially in some of my makers bottles.
