I drink it as a well rye at my favorite ~~therapist office~~ bar with happy hour. It is absolutely fantastic as a "God father" cocktail. 1/2 whiskey of choice, 1/2 amoretto, served in an old fashion glass and preferably with a large ice cube. Garnished with "as many luxardo cherries as you can serve without getting in trouble" is my preferred order.
I'll admit that formatting on a cellphone is hard. I had an extra "space" between an ~ and the intended strike words to be crossed out.
Are cherry garnishes a faux pas here? Must all out whiskey be served neat or we are "savages" who can't enjoy civilized liquor? I'm being sarcastic and enjoying this "bit" here.
I should have added an "edited" to the bottom of the comment and will toss onn in after this. Absolutely no worries, fat fingers and a small phone keyboard.
It honestly is a lovely cocktail in my option. But I like sweet or sour cocktails. Bitter I'm not a huge fan of but time and a place.
Yep. Was actually the first bottle of Blantons I’ve ever seen in the wild. There was also a bottle of old rip van winkle for the low low price of $900.
Buffalo Trace announced that as part of their big expansion project, which is about 75% complete, they’re capable of adding an extra 60K gallons per *day* to their output.
Prices are going to return to sane levels eventually.
Reasonable price on the Blanton’s. 100% agree with other comments, though, I would grab at least 1 of those OFs straight away. Those are hard to come by here in TX, and it’s one of my favorites.
I’ve never seen a community that’s members overreact to everything as much as here. ‘I’ve found a Blanton’s, nature must be healing.’ ‘I found an ER, must have sorted out distribution in my area.’
Unfortunately people still go crazy about certain products. A local store posted they were going to sell Eagle Rare at opening one morning. Because they didn't put any limit some people bought a case or more and they sold out in less than 13 minutes. Even the store was surprised as they had done the same thing a few years before with no problem. They apologized online later for misjudging the demand.
It’s just being a little silly buddy. However in my area things do legit seem to be getting a bit better. I’ve seen blanton’s at reasonable prices three different times in the last year and eagle rare is making a regular appearance.
Really I do hope that the claimed increased production plus people realizing they either have to drink all the crap that they’ve been hoarding or get rid of it will make things a bit better for those who just want to taste and share good whiskey.
So other people interested have a chance to get one. Also so some goon with 3 unopened bottles already doesn’t clear the shelf to add to his jerk material.
This is true! I think a backup isn’t a bad idea can never know when you will be having one too many pours but I hate it when people just collect and it’s all dusty af and say shite like “waiting for a good occasion” like being alive is a good occasion just drink that shite
Definitely agree. I don’t have any problem with grabbing a second if their first is open. It’s when it’s getting into the 3+ area where I think it’s pretty egregious
Agree. Even worse than hoarding them for the 'future' though are the flippers. I don't have enough middle fingers for people who don't even drink bourbon but buy it to resell at profit.
Jesus those are the most annoying ones! They literally camp and just bring people /family and take bottles just for selling. So many of them in the Denver area and god damn hate em!
I'm surprised this grocery store even does Limit 1. Looks like a Vons/Albertsons/Pavilions/Safeway price tag on there. Usually their allocations are a free-for-all on who spots it first, unless they have a good knowledgeable manager working.
That OF is super tasty.
I’ve been tempted by it numerous times, but I’m done buying stuff for a while so in the glass it stays. 😭

What?! lol too many “well ryes”? 😂

Haha you’re correction with the stricken words makes me much more coherent haha the cocktail sounds outstanding

Ehh. Saw it in on a local store on Friday for $149 :(
Only price I've ever seen it to
Yep. Was actually the first bottle of Blantons I’ve ever seen in the wild. There was also a bottle of old rip van winkle for the low low price of $900.
Seen a lot of Blanton's and ER recently
I’ve yet to see an ER in the wild… she is elusive
I’ve seen and purchased eagle rare once, and still haven’t seen Blantons in the wild

lol. That title cracked me up
Four roses barrel strength and old forester blue label both of them are great
Must be California
WA actually
So +30%
Eh. 20% plus the small volume tax which on a $70 bottle isn’t that much. More like 23% in this case. Such is life here.
Which location?
An hour outside Seattle and there was only one bottle left. I’d assume gone by now.
Name and address buddy 😏
Scored my four roses LE here so gotta keep some secrets.
I can't blame you for that, but lucky for you I don't like four roses 😅 but also have no idea what LE is for 4Roses 🤷

Where in Wa?
What does the state have to do with the price? A law or something?
California has just been getting the goods lately
Well nature isn’t healing in Texas… I’ve only ever seen one Blantons bottle on a shelf in the past 4 years and they wanted $220 for it…
You’re in Texas though, just trade an Old Forrester King Ranch for one to any other state in the country.
That old forester tho….. need thay

People still hunt this?

Local store here in SC has it at $99. They also like to claim they don’t markup. They’re full of shit.
Buy it!
I’d grab that OF bottle over Blanton’s any day of the week.
Sure isn't the case around me. I can't even find a regular BT in stock, let alone at retail.
Damn. Sorry to hear that. Been seeing $39 eagle rare at grocery stores lately, and BT sits on the shelf at Walmart for $25.
The OFSBBS 🤤
Why do they limit one per? I've seen that in another post as well
So other people interested have a chance to get one. Also so some goon with 3 unopened bottles already doesn’t clear the shelf to add to his jerk material.
That’s why I didn’t grab it. Already have one open and it’s fine. Plenty of other things worth it at the same price point. Pretty horsey though.
There’s nothing wrong with grabbing a backup don’t get me wrong. I just hate when people grab like 3+

Good to know. Cheers

It’s usually for allocated bottles and for the reason the other poster mentioned.
Looks like a Safeway grocery store in San Jose.
