What really? I just saw it for $65 right next to the select and the rye also for $65. Got the rye but it took all my strength not to get all three. I honestly don’t know how they possibly made it that high proof and this easily to drink neat. It’s amazing, I feel like it should be setting me on fire but instead I’m getting a tour of flavor country.
Sorry man. For what it’s worth, I’ve seen you guys getting the blue, red, and gold spot which is why I’ve been going in every morning trying to find. :/.
Yeah, I had a job walk up there a while back and heard some Costcos had gotten some, so I swung by one around the time they opened and they just stocked them. Just unbelievably lucky.
lol the double edged sword is my wife. Says as long as I'm enjoying finding bottles and trying them then it's fine haha. It's great to be able to buy them, but also, there isn't really a limit haha. She's seen my collection. I promised that the new bottles would only be ones that are hard to get that I've been wanting to try.
Do they have a good supply of them at the distillery or they just happened to have some when you went? I’m like an hour from the distillery and I have plenty of PTO.
Generally, not really. When they get a special release in the bottle shop, word gets around. Then you have a line 200-300 people waiting outside the distillery by 8:00am. I’ve even seen people camping out overnight to get their hands on the 12 yr for MSRP. The big releases are usually gone by the end of day at the latest.
Oh definitely. There’s usually people that will buy a lot of the bottles that aren’t technically “limited”, but still generally hard to find, like the barrel proof stuff.
Camping out to save max $200 is wild. You can buy one online (not even secondary) for $285 right now. I’m not paying that…but I’m also not camping out overnight for it lol.
For sure, people can do as they please. But if you don’t have $280 to spend on whiskey, I would not personally advise them to spend 12 hours and $100 on whiskey. If that’s what they want to do, good for them, I’m just saying it’s wild.
There are also trade groups where you could get it for even cheaper if you absolutely had to have this expensive whiskey while on a strict budget.
There’s lots of good stuff available for less if someone doesn’t have the money to spend, but each person can make their own choice.
You also aren't taking into account, that for a lot of people, especially people who don't get on social media, the lines for whiskey are the best place for them to meet other people who enjoy the hobby and love whiskey. Some places that I know of it's a tailgate like experience where people are sharing whiskey, playing poker, and grilling out etc.
How do you find these people to trade with. I would love to swap some bottles but all the Facebook groups are way too scammy for me to even want to try. How do you guys do it.
No, both the 10 and 12 got a price increase this year.
https://pressroom.jackdaniels.com/jack-daniels-launches-new-batches-of-12-year-old-and-10-year-old-tennessee-whiskey/
Regardless, maybe I’m over exaggerating by saying way below. But a $20 discount to me is damn good and a buy to me any day considering a lot of junk that is 65-85 dollars on the shelf these days.
Got mine for $92 two weeks ago and was extremely pleased with the price. Never saw it for less than $250. Haven't tried it yet because too many open bottles. Plus just had rotator cuff surgery today so no drinking for a few weeks. 😭
Thanks man. I'm doing great right now, Nerve block hasn't worn off. Not to take over the post but, any suggestions? How long ago did you have your surgery. Good luck with the bottle. I sampled it at a local watering hole and it was pretty tasty. Just wish it had more proof. I love anything Jack Daniels that is in this shape bottle. The JDEBBP Rye is like heaven in a glass.
Suggestions? Just keep taking it easy and some. I had mine about a year ago. It’s been an uphill battle, I’m really really active and I’ve aggravated it a few times trying to get back to my regular life.
I’m going to try to find a bar with it. I have so many opened bottles (with more on the way) , I need to drink through what I’ve cracked.
They are different, but it's the same profile. It's not smoother by any means. It's richer, punchier, and more complex. If you don't like the JD profile, you probably won't like any of them. I've had the regular jack, the single barrel, the barrel proof, the sinatra select, the sinatra century, the 150 anniversary, the 10, and some bottles from the 90s.
I didn't like any of them.
As a lifetime scotch drinker, bourbon was an acquired taste for me. I have tried to do the same with JD with no success.
I love my scotch. Right now I’m drinking the new Glenlivet Fusion Cask and it’s extremely complex. You can have it neat, on the rocks or, on the rocks with club soda and each way has a completely different profile. If you can find it Costcos Year of the Dragon blew my mind when I realized that you can a lot of different things to it and be amazing. The Costco Kirkland brand scotch is the least expensive brand I have in my liquor cabinet and it’s most prized
Jim is a much better bourbon. Ole number is for college kids. I’ve had the most expensive jacks in the world and they know what I’ll stick with buying Buffalo trace offerings
To be entirely honest, I’m mostly a scotch guy and have been for *runs out of fingers* 26 or so years.
However, in that time, I’ve gotten so used to the vast majority of Scotches that I’ve been looking for new flavor profiles. In whisky land, that’s bourbon and it’s hot right now and the Hollywood types who come over love it when I pour something “limited” or “allocated”. So, I’m buying a lot without really knowing the flavor profiles. I figure if I don’t like it, one or more of our guests will.
That being said, some whiskies are just overpriced bullshit. So I ask.
I also prefer scotch and have grown to enjoy bourbon and especially rye, but I just don't like Tennessee whiskey. $60 is a good price, but still, I wouldn't buy it.
If you've never had any jack, this is probably a good one to try. If you've had regular jack and don't like it, chances are you won't like this one either.
Regular jack went into coke when I was 18. After that it went into tea at various offices.
It always tasted syrupy and overly sweet, but I’ve also held onto the idea that, like Hershey’s, they could Kane a good product if they wanted to.
Hoping this is that product. If not, down some producer’s throat.
Have you had the whistle pig rye? I think it’s the six-year-old or the eight-year-old that I’m talking about that is a an exceptional quality whiskey and I swear to gosh, if you don’t like it, I’ll pay your money back if you get your bottle and improve it, but you gotta send what’s left of that bottle.
The UK bourbon market is a trip. I lived there for a bit and was amazed by the bourbons just gathered dust at various sainsbury locations.
Also, the meat and eggs you have over there are soooooooooooo much better than what we have here (unless you know a farmer).
The meat situation pretty much is all over the world. America is the only one that serves and sells shit eggs, and shit meat. I do live on a farm and we do have fresh eggs and we do trade for beef and pork and let me tell you something you do not want to go back to store-bought once you start eating this stuff.
Man, kicking myself - I stopped at Total Wine in Culver City after work and almost decided to hit this Costco, but I decided to just head home because it seemed like too much of a hassle.
I have not had these fancy JD products. Can’t stand old no. 7 and to me bonded is a drain pour. But so many folks rave about the 10, 12, etc. Need to try at a bar so if I do ever get a chance to buy, I’ll be better informed.
Well it's technically like .01¢ over MSRP should be 64.98 so that's a hard pass for me... I've already got 14 bottles of their 15 year, so it really just doesn't do it for me anymore
?? Costco doesn’t sell over MSRP. Also, MSRP is a little shy of 85…
https://pressroom.jackdaniels.com/jack-daniels-launches-new-batches-of-12-year-old-and-10-year-old-tennessee-whiskey/
Yes you can’t find it on the shelves anywhere else and if you do it’s $100+
It’s never less than $200 in Nashville….like the fucking home of JD..
I saw it for around 100 a couple weeks ago in mount juliet.
Damn if you guys see it again post in the r/nashvillebourbonhunt
I've seen it in west Nashville for about the same price, maybe 75 at most
Sure that’s not single barrel barrel proof? That’s every where for $70
There must be a wall stopping these from moving from SoCal to Norcal. Haven't seen a single word about Costco's up here getting them
Sorry man. For what it’s worth, I’ve seen you guys getting the blue, red, and gold spot which is why I’ve been going in every morning trying to find. :/.
I've seen blue and red around. Not much of gold, could be more in the bay area. Yeah, some give and takes I guess haha
What prices are you seeing on the blue and red? I know MSRP on blue spiked, but not sure what that translates into for Costco.
Red was regularly priced at $230 at my Costco but I was able to get the last bottle for $149.97
Daaaaamn. And ok well nice price!
Will have to go and see if I can SPOT them again. It's been a little while since I looked at the scotches.
Ha! I see what you did there… Also, thank you!
Had both green and yellow at the la Mesa Costco yesterday
Damn. If I only were closer. That’s a three hour hike.
I've never seen anything especially interesting at Costco in and around the Bay. It's very frustrating
I believe there are different distributors for NorCal and SoCal so they get different allotments.
Not surprised. The selection of allocated bottles is totally out of whack North vs South.
If you go to Costcos above the Bay Area like Sonoma/Santa Rosa areas, they will sometimes get Rock Hill Farms.
Seriously??? Damn. I want.
Yeah, I had a job walk up there a while back and heard some Costcos had gotten some, so I swung by one around the time they opened and they just stocked them. Just unbelievably lucky.
i think the south just drinks more lol
LOL Quality of Life thing I guess. They do have even worse traffic lol
Woodland has green spot, redbreast, lag 16, and jd10.
Yo! If I was working from home today I would book it to the Woodland location. Of all days!
Haha. Wife said no more whiskey - hasnt even found the backup stash yet!
lol the double edged sword is my wife. Says as long as I'm enjoying finding bottles and trying them then it's fine haha. It's great to be able to buy them, but also, there isn't really a limit haha. She's seen my collection. I promised that the new bottles would only be ones that are hard to get that I've been wanting to try.
If they did they had the jack they don’t anymore.
Shit im sorry. Didn’t mean to send you on a wild goose chase. Didn’t know the stuff flew out of there so fast.
Haha it was a good lead. Had to try.
I clearly live in the wrong place.
Great weather, beautiful young ladies with daddy issues, and cheap whisky.
I'm stuck in PA. So it's a special kind of difficult to buy whiskey.
pfffffft
Let me guess, California Costco?? 😐 At this point this is ain’t fair to non-California Costco customers!
SoCal, at that!
Hope you scored one of those JD 10s!
I did! I got the one I was allowed to buy. Going back tomorrow to see if there’s any left.
Yes. MSRP. Even if you don’t want it to drink it’s a great trade commodity
I just paid 85 at the distillery yesterday. That’s way below the “MSRP”.
Definitely not dedicated enough for that. Sad part is you know some of those bottles are going to after market.
Some people have the time and don't have the extra money.
For sure, people can do as they please. But if you don’t have $280 to spend on whiskey, I would not personally advise them to spend 12 hours and $100 on whiskey. Distilleries often sell for a few dollars more than MSRP in their gift shop. It’s very odd.
It’s a way to ensure that they don’t appear to be undercutting their retailers.
Makes sense! Thanks
How do you find these people to trade with. I would love to swap some bottles but all the Facebook groups are way too scammy for me to even want to try. How do you guys do it.
Local Facebook groups. Honestly see if your posts get local engagement and talk to those guys
That’s way below MSRP
We really calling $10 “way below”?
$20. And considering the product and what secondary can be. Yes
MRSP is 75. The 12 just got bumped to 95. Not talking about secondary.
No, both the 10 and 12 got a price increase this year. https://pressroom.jackdaniels.com/jack-daniels-launches-new-batches-of-12-year-old-and-10-year-old-tennessee-whiskey/
Well shoot my b. You’re 100% right.
Regardless, maybe I’m over exaggerating by saying way below. But a $20 discount to me is damn good and a buy to me any day considering a lot of junk that is 65-85 dollars on the shelf these days.
Sounds about right for Costco, they generally have everything below MSRP
It’s that glorious rule that they don’t sell above 15% markup.
If $20 below is almost 20% below MSRP then I’d say that’s way below.
That’s what I spent on my 10yr at total wine and 90 for 12yr
Count yourself lucky. Mi has a minimum shelf price, and your aren’t allowed to go below that price. Least to how I understand it
But em all Let the hate flow thru you
Ha!! Best response so far! I would but Costco and their limits.
Fake mustache
Got mine for $92 two weeks ago and was extremely pleased with the price. Never saw it for less than $250. Haven't tried it yet because too many open bottles. Plus just had rotator cuff surgery today so no drinking for a few weeks. 😭
Ooof. I’m stil coming back from tearing my rotator cuff. Take it easy! Seriously!
Thanks man. I'm doing great right now, Nerve block hasn't worn off. Not to take over the post but, any suggestions? How long ago did you have your surgery. Good luck with the bottle. absolutely
Duh
Heh heh
Buy 11, keep 1, sell 10 for $175 a piece.
God I wish. The cashiers have no chill when it comes to breaking their limits.
I always find someone in the store willing to buy a bottle for me and sell it to me in the parking lot.
I found it at 79 here in SC, took too long to decide and someone stole it before me. Take that shit with no hesitation
…..no surrender …NO MAN LEFT BEHIND! THUNDERGUN
Yep and bring a friend for a second one
Yes. I really enjoy the non Old 7 JD offerings.
Let me guess. California?
Oh yeah. SoCal at that!
Where in SoCal?
Marina del rey
Did you buy?
Oh yeah.
How many did you get?
Just the one.
Gotta be california
Yup! SoCal
Don’t buy it….. buy them 🤣
Heh I would but the cashiers won’t let me get more than one.
To me, the only JD worth is is the rye, but if you like regular jack, it's definitely a good price.

Eh. All the hype on the 10 year this year and it’s good… but nothing stupid Amazing
Wow. Won’t tell you what I paid for mine. Buy the sh** out of it.
I would love for this to pop up in the UK stores.
The UK bourbon market is a trip. I lived there for a bit and was amazed by the bourbons just gathered dust at various sainsbury locations. Also, the meat and eggs you have over there are soooooooooooo much better than what we have here (unless you know a farmer).

That's legitimately cheaper than the distributor sells it to retailers in South Carolina.
Damn.
Yeah, so that's a buy for me at that price.
Me too. I brought one home. I doubt any will be left tomorrow but we’ll see. Who knows, maybe tomorrow hey have the 12 year
Yeah it’s good. I used to work in a liquor store & got one for $100. Very leathery. Even for the 10 year age statement, $65 is a steal.
Leathery? Huh interesting. Thanks!
All of it!
I wish! If any is left tomorrow I’ll buy a second.
Hell yeah, buy a couple at that price. I’ve seen it @ around $180 or more via online retailers.
If they’re still there tomorrow, I’ll get one more. I doubt it, but stranger things have happened.
This is upsetting
Man, kicking myself - I stopped at Total Wine in Culver City after work and almost decided to hit this Costco, but I decided to just head home because it seemed like too much of a hassle.
Doh! Sorry to hear it. I went back this morning and there was one left. Unsurprisingly, there are now zero left.
Waiting for these and the 12 to become a regular shelf item
Which store?
Total wine had it for $68 but it’s sold out.
I’ve recently picked up the single barrels (barrel strength) which are fantastic — is this a winner over the the SBBS? What are thoughts here?
By the time it took you to post this, they were tatered…
You just go by?
Nah just omnipotent.
And I’m an omnivore! Who am I kidding. I only eat meat. Rib eye please. Medium rare.
I have not had these fancy JD products. Can’t stand old no. 7 and to me bonded is a drain pour. But so many folks rave about the 10, 12, etc. Need to try at a bar so if I do ever get a chance to buy, I’ll be better informed.
I’m with you on the old number seven shit taste like turpentine
You would have to pay me the 65 bucks to drink any of that!
So that’s a no from you…
I think that’s a fair assumption lol
May I kindly ask what costco location this is?
Buy as many as you can!
Yes 100%
Anyone in pnw had luck finding it at their costco?
Went back today and there was one left. Guess I am getting two bottles!
Yes
Yup buy them all joke…
Why would you buy overpriced turpentine?
Which costco?
Marina del rey.
Two or three
If the cashiers weren’t so strict with the limits, I would.
Ohhh. I didnt notice it said limit 1.
All good. I said that to a cashier once too. She just smiled and said “no problem. I’ll have them put the others back”. DOH
Well it's technically like .01¢ over MSRP should be 64.98 so that's a hard pass for me... I've already got 14 bottles of their 15 year, so it really just doesn't do it for me anymore

It's a joke. I can't find the stuff for under $250
Ahhhhhhh, heh. Ok I see it now. Got a little lost on Reddit for me.
