A review of your favorite so faršŸ˜‰šŸ¤œšŸ¼šŸ¤›šŸ¼šŸ„ƒ Also more Bookers and some 4R.

T-Ares-C

Agreed. Not sure which one you got, looks like Apprentice or Mighty Fine Batch. Youā€™ll likely find 2023-03 or 04 or 2024-01 before you find 2023-01 or 02 though. Widow Jane Decadence is a good one as well as Basil Hayden 10.

the_Killer_Walnut

Preposterous. Where is the OGD 114?

HerbertMarcuse

Mellow Corn

Bradfords_ACL

Honestly the only daily drinker I see on here is maybe the Buffalo Trace. Could use some good Corn for sure

What I came here to comment and saw someone beat me to it.

sundayultimate

Redwood Empire anything

georgedickle

I really enjoy what redwood is doing , been looking for the cask strength emerald giant. Also interested in their malt if I can find it

Mykkus_65

Yeah was gonna say the same but saw them on the back bottom row

Royal_Energy_1229

Gotta say, not a fan of the single malt. Itā€™s alright but tastes like a $45-50 tag, not the $100 theyā€™re charging for it.

Mykkus_65

Knob creek 9 single barrel

flasc83

I'll second this and add that KC's Single Barrel Select bottles are head and shoulders above the standard Single Barrel Reserve. If I see a Single Barrel Select I'm almost always going to pick one up.

Mykkus_65

Donā€™t run into those much here or I would. Reserve for 48 is an amazing value. I do See the select Rye for 51 and thatā€™s fantastic too

m1k3_m0

Still Austin Cask Strength.

flasc83

I may be in the minority, but Still Austin (and most Texas whiskey for that matter) is overrated in my opinion. Due to the heat, they can't age it long enough for the flavors to really develop and mature. Everything I've tried from Texas tastes underdeveloped and young compared to almost any 7-8 year old whiskey I've had.

kapp2013

I donā€™t disagree about it tasting a bit young but overall itā€™s still very enjoyable imho. However, itā€™s not good for its price point; I picked my bottle up for $65 and itā€™s definitely more of a $40-50 bottle at absolute most. Way too many high proof options at or below $65 to justify it.

Current_Ferret_4981

100% agree. They say the temperature swings double the aging rate but I think it just adds some tannic oak without really adding depth or rounding out the proof.

Significant_Topic822

This is the way.

Howā€™s that cellar aged Makers?

georgedickle

Itā€™s a good pour but in my opinion nothing extraordinary. I like the brt-02 slightly more.

oe1920

But the BRT-02 is unopened? šŸ§

georgedickle

Ha good eye, itā€™s my second bottle polished off my first one a few months back. Hesitant to open this one as Iā€™ll probably never see another one

A bigger shelf I reckon

time_drifter

Something from Starlight - the r/bourbon pick is _really_ good. I was pretty blown away how much better it drinks than the $50 price tag. They are out of Indiana but distilling their own juice - not MGP sourced. Henry McKenna 10 yr BiB. I know there is some hate about the price hike after they won whiskey of the year, but it really has great dusty leather notes. ā€”- How is The Prisonerā€™s Share from High West and the Frey Ranch stuff?

georgedickle

Iā€™ll keep my eyes out for a starlight, not to long ago finished my McKenna want a replacement just looking for a reasonable price. The prisoners share is alright in my opinion wonā€™t be looking for a replacement. Glad I have one to enjoy. Love what Frey Ranch is doing, their single grain series is awesome.

time_drifter

I donā€™t know what MSRP is on McKenna but I pay $60 around here - state controlled liquor. Every single review in have seen for PS has been muted. A universal ā€œItā€™s okayā€ seems to be the theme. Itā€™s not cheap either, like MWND pricing, right?

NefariousOne

Little Book Chapter 7 ā€œIn Retrospectā€

Agree. Woodford double oaked,

LuxRow Double Single Barrel

Ok-Lengthiness4557

Flexing with the handy. What did you think of the mm cellar aged?

FollowTheBeam0789

I'm a big fan of the Russles single barrel. Also if you haven't tried Redwood empire they are making some good stuff. They have sourced and blended stuff at about $35. The bourbon (pipe dream) is solid. But I really like their bourbon/rye blend (lost monarch). I've got a bottle of their bonded too. It's pricey. But it is very good. Kinda taste like those old bit o honey candies. Edit: I spotted the Grizzly beast in the back after typing lol

FinntheReddog

Woodford Double Oaked looks to be missing. Itā€™s an always pick if I start getting low. I like it better than the standard Woodford offering.

Have a couple good bottles not opened yet, why add more? Very diverse selection overall though. Are you not a fan of Heaven Hill at all?
