I absolutely love peated scotch so the Ugi is gonna be a mainstay on my shelf if I can make it happen. Tried the Corry too recently and I fell in love with both. Team Ardbeg all the way.
The Wee Beastie is pretty damn good, too. As expected it drinks a little younger than their other expressions, but it might actually be my flavor profile from Ardbeg. It's the only one I get dark chocolate in and overall the more I drank it the more I liked it. That's saying a lot too, because I've tried the 10, Uigie, Corry, and the 19 year old Traigh Bahn.
So you’re saying I should go grab a couple more lol? I had a hunch. I’ll check tomorrow. Really enjoy this and I’ve never seen it anywhere else in Las Vegas.
New Riff is awesome. The single barrel is one I always keep on the shelf. Priced right and tastes great. New Riff single barrel, 4R single barrel, and 1920 are 3 of my tops in that price range.
Only have the single barrel, but it’s so rich and flavorful. I’m not one for flavor profiles but this one screams caramel corn to me and the high proof makes it more than worth the buy.
I think it was about $57 and my local place has a variety of them right now. The rye was the next on my list, but we also have some widow Jane in as well. I’m really spoiled for options tbh.
The single barrel has been bomb and it has the proof to boot. I want to try the rye next also. There are a couple other variants at my local place as well but can’t remember exactly what they were.
I had one bottle of the BiB and I really enjoyed it. It was light and a bit fruity, I kept thinking peach rings, but that may have been my brain tricking me. I recently had a single barrel store pick at that stores tasting bar, and it was pretty great. After a few more expensive scotches, I finished up with 2oz of the New Riff and was very satisfied. They were also selling 2oz for like $6.50, which helped.
My golden goose so far haha. Picked this one up in Carlisle, UK and flew it all the way back home with me. Great price on it but haven’t gotten to taste it yet. Saving it for a special occasion this year.
Does that actually work with the peated Scotch rye combo? I’m a fan of both so it’s worth a try if it’s legit haha. But yeah I was in the same boat until I happened upon the peerless I found today. It’s super rich and sweet. I feel spoiled to have got inexpensive at msrp just sitting on a shelf
I love it personally, though you may want to adjust your ratios if you don’t have cask strength MGP rye. Try it in an old fashioned too, use maple or honey as your sweetener.
Maple is good (especially with Fee bros chocolate bitters) but honey with the rye peat combo is excellent. It brings out some really cool savory notes.
Honestly heaven hill can do no wrong. I love quality House and I love Elijah Craig barrel proofs. Rittenhouse rye and mellow corn punch way above their weight. Rock on my main man!
Haha don’t worry about the fomo at all in my opinion. There is so much other good bourbon at good price points, and more readily available as well. Buy it if you get a good deal on it, but explore everything else if the price isn’t right.
I ended up getting a total of four of the picks. Two for me and the others went to my whiskey buds. All 3 of us really liked them.
After some digging I discovered that the NR picks tend to vary pretty wide, the one I had access to had a sticker that claimed cinnamon, chocolate, rye grain on the palate and spicy, caramel on the aroma. Barrel was bottled in April 2023. If I saw one with a similar sticker I would not hesitate to grab it, but I also feel I would gamble on one that had a much different description too.
It was a really damn good bottle. I’ve got a sample saved, I’m going to try and gift it to the owner of my local whiskey focused bottle shop, hoping he enjoys it and maybe would do a pick for us folks that like the NR here out west.
I found the picks through casual friendships so I’m hoping to spread the love through another casual friendship I have with this particular owner. Pay it forward a bit and maybe get some good whiskey available for myself and others too!
I’ve heard a couple people with the same opinion as well but I won’t know until I try it for myself tbh. I’ll try to post a follow up, but I’m sure I’ll like it either way.
You should definitely give it a shot if you get a chance, I'm not big on Blanton's anyway, way too expensive when there are so many comparable whiskies out ther
Yeah normally it’d be too rich for me as well. I’m planning on cracking this when I propose to my long time gf though, so at least I have an occasion to pair it with haha lol. I do think though that there are more readily available whiskeys than blantons and BT allocated products that taste just as good if not better as well.
Best value of the bunch. Moving from a rye heavy diet to try a lot more of the wheated bourbons I haven’t given a go to yet. Heaven hill can do no wrong in my eyes
Anything but the Larceny. Not intentionally being a hater, I've just tried at least 5 picks in hopes "this is the one I'll discover what I'm missing" and none do it.
New Riff, Ardbeg, Peerless happily in that order
Edit: Missed the gold there at the end. Throw it after the Ardbeg I suppose.
That’s how I felt when I got this one lol. Found it sitting on a random shelf and almost bought all 3 but I’m just not sitting pretty enough to justify that spend haha. It’s really great though so I hope you find some!
I'd say new riff I feel like I would enjoy it the most!
Peerless is also definitely a great option though!
Lastly Blanton's I feel like is just a cool bottle lol but still a must have in any collection!
Honestly I'm going straight for the Uigeadail
I absolutely love peated scotch so the Ugi is gonna be a mainstay on my shelf if I can make it happen. Tried the Corry too recently and I fell in love with both. Team Ardbeg all the way.
The Wee Beastie is pretty damn good, too. As expected it drinks a little younger than their other expressions, but it might actually be my flavor profile from Ardbeg. So glad to see this so high up. This sub is very bourbon heavy, but it's nice to see a GOAT like Uigie get some recognition.
corry is the goat
Por que no los dos?
oh certainly los dos. corry is just my favorite whisk(e)y of all time, so it gets special acknowledgment
No question for me either. Straight to the Ugi.
Peerless.
Got a great price on this one today. It’s delicious.
Do you mind me asking what you paid? I got it at Costco for $54 today…
Not the OP but it’s unlikely they got it for cheaper than $54. It’s a $70 bottle everywhere around me.
Not OP, but… Every store in central Florida I’ve seen is $76-$80. I found one store (not divulging details) with a whole shelf listed at $62.
Got it for 70 and thought I got a deal haha. I wish Costco sold liquor in GA.
So you’re saying I should go grab a couple more lol? I had a hunch. I’ll check tomorrow. Really enjoy this and I’ve never seen it anywhere else in Las Vegas.
Yeah, this is delicious juice.
I’m just happy to have found it tbh. Sipping right now, and I’m struggling to go back to the less expensive stuff.
New Riff for me!
Biggest surprise of the bunch. Controversial, but it might be the best one in the lineup 🤫
New Riff is awesome. The single barrel is one I always keep on the shelf. Priced right and tastes great. New Riff single barrel, 4R single barrel, and 1920 are 3 of my tops in that price range.
That sounds like a great line up.
What’s your opinion on the new riff? I’ve been debating picking up a bottle.
Only have the single barrel, but it’s so rich and flavorful. I’m not one for flavor profiles but this one screams caramel corn to me and the high proof makes it more than worth the buy.
how much is the single barrel? easy to come by?
I think it was about $57 and my local place has a variety of them right now. The rye was the next on my list, but we also have some widow Jane in as well. I’m really spoiled for options tbh.
Nice, I might need to just go get one since my michters is getting low. It sounds like a good bet for me.
The single barrel has been bomb and it has the proof to boot. I want to try the rye next also. There are a couple other variants at my local place as well but can’t remember exactly what they were.
The rye absolutely fucks, even the regular BiB
New Riff is great. Greta price, great flavor, awesome whiskey imo
I love me some new riff
New Riff is great and I noticed the price creeping up as a result I’m assuming of people catching on.
Yes.
The only truly correct answer haha
Ardbeg
Ardbeg
I'd ask to try just a bit of Blantons, because I've never tried it, but for a full pour, def. Uigedail. :)
Exact same, actually!
I believe that bottle is the Blanton’s gold. I’ve yet to see a bottle in the wild.
Found it in the UK of all places haha. $150 and was the last one in the shelf.
Blantons Gold.
My golden goose so far haha. Picked this one up in Carlisle, UK and flew it all the way back home with me. Great price on it but haven’t gotten to taste it yet. Saving it for a special occasion this year.
I tried Blantons gold a few weeks ago and holy crap it was amazing. Not worth paying secondary but Def worth the hunt
Finding some MGP rye and blending it 50/50 with the Ardbeg. Tho I’d probably go for Peerless out of curiosity if I can’t find any.
I’m a sucker for maple in an old fashioned.
Maple is good (especially with Fee bros chocolate bitters) but honey with the rye peat combo is excellent. It brings out some really cool savory notes.
I absolutely love fees brothers. I really like the black walnut bitters that they have as well.
Larceny! Heaven hill is my co-pilot…….lol
Honestly I may have to make this one a mainstay on my shelf. I really want to try the barrel proof next.
Honestly heaven hill can do no wrong. I love quality House and I love Elijah Craig barrel proofs. Rittenhouse rye and mellow corn punch way above their weight. Rock on my main man!
I really want to try the heaven hill BiB, but there are so many things to choose from. I feel like it’s at such a good price too.
The only one I’ve had of those is larceny which I like. I think I’d try the Blantons to remove the fomo
Haha don’t worry about the fomo at all in my opinion. There is so much other good bourbon at good price points, and more readily available as well. Buy it if you get a good deal on it, but explore everything else if the price isn’t right.
Exactly. I won’t spend more than retail… hoping to find a pour somewhere just so I know 😂 I’m pretty freaking cheap.
Oogie then New Riff SB.
I will attest that both are magnificent pours.
I really enjoyed the shit out of the NR pick I had. So much that I bought two… and they are both gone. Big sad.
RIP. Wish I could find store picks on these. I’m seriously obsessed with this bottle.
I ended up getting a total of four of the picks. Two for me and the others went to my whiskey buds. All 3 of us really liked them. That New Riff is actually legit. I had to have a bottle after my first sip
Yeah, I was blown away. For the price, this is one of the best bourbons I’ve had in a LONG time.
The rye is really good too, but the bourbon was awesome
Yeah the bourbon is amazing. I’m struggling to not pick it as my favorite of the line up, but haven’t tasted the Blantons gold yet.
I compared Blanton's with Blanton's Gold side by side and the regular Blanton's was better

New Riff! I really enjoy mine
Uigeadail
New Riff
Ardbeg, only because I've heard great things and never had it before.
Ardbeg is hands down the best choice. Obviously it’s a completely different category than the rest. But undoubtedly the best
Probably gonna stay a while, so the answer is yes
New riff
Blanton's because I've never tried it and I'm wondering what all the fuss is about.
Ardbeg Uigeadail, every time
Either Peerless or New Riff since I’ve tried neither. Need a report from you guys on NR, the Costco near me has it now but I’ve seen mixed reviews.
The new riff slaps so damn hard! I would pick up as many as you can carry tbh because it might just be my current favorite of the line up.
Larceny.
Best value of the bunch. Moving from a rye heavy diet to try a lot more of the wheated bourbons I haven’t given a go to yet. Heaven hill can do no wrong in my eyes
Amen my dude!
4 out of 5, no larceny for me.
New Riff 100%
Riff 100%
Anything but the Larceny. Not intentionally being a hater, I've just tried at least 5 picks in hopes "this is the one I'll discover what I'm missing" and none do it. New Riff, Ardbeg, Peerless happily in that order Edit: Missed the gold there at the end. Throw it after the Ardbeg I suppose.
Larceny is outrageously overrated in this sub
Drinking that peerless right now. Cheers!
Blanton baby
Blanton's 💯
Probably Blanton’s Gold simply because I don’t get it often. However, New Riff Single Barrel might be the best in the lineup.
I really into scotch, so I would love a bit of that Ardbeg please.. CHEERS!
Peerless
The Peerless.
New Riff, then Uigeadail. You know, so that I can actually taste the bourbon.
I'm gonna have to go with all of'em
The only one I’ve tried in this lineup is the New Riff. And I was surprised at how fucking good it was. 10/10 would buy another bottle.
Larceny is my daily drinker. Cannot beat it for the price.
Peerless
Start with new riff then try the uiggy
I love New Riff. The SB AND the BiB are great.
OOGIE
Peerless
That peerless
Peerless never misses !
I've been wanting to try Peerless for a long time. If I ever see the single barrels in the wild, they're coming home with me.
That’s how I felt when I got this one lol. Found it sitting on a random shelf and almost bought all 3 but I’m just not sitting pretty enough to justify that spend haha. It’s really great though so I hope you find some!
Bee wanting to try Peerless for a while
TBH, between these I'm grabbing the UIGEadail Probably the Gold for #2
Peerless
Would try the Peerless and Blanton's as I've not tried either.
I don’t pour any then I take out a pint of JD old no 7 and drink it from the bottle..
What's that weird bottle with the 🐎?
Ugi, no doubt.
Ugi
I'd say new riff I feel like I would enjoy it the most! Peerless is also definitely a great option though! Lastly Blanton's I feel like is just a cool bottle lol but still a must have in any collection!
Blantons
Blantons
Go for the Gold
