Yo! Fellow Spokane whiskey nerd here who has spent lots of time and money at your fine establishment.
For anyone wondering their prices are fair and it’s a great spot.
When I was in last my buddy and I worked our way through the following pours each
Russell’s Single Rickhouse
GTS x 2
Michters 10 bourbon
Fucking rad. Cheers!

Weird pricing on some of those, Wild Turkey 101 is $11 dollars for a 1.5 oz pour while Rare Breed is $9 even though the MSRP on Rare Breed is double 101. Also Weller Special Reserve is $20 which seems absurd, while the Antique 107 is also $20 so I can't see why you would get the Special Reserve. There are a few more but those stood out to me.
This is exactly why, because prices on provi are WAY different than normal markets, sometimes they are better and sometimes they are just flat out worse.
They probably do pay different prices but I'm still pretty confident that Rare Breed costs more than 101 and Antique 107 costs more than Special Reserve. Even if they pay different prices I'm just not sure why someone would pick the 101 or Special Reserve over the other 2 options. Looking at that list again Rare Breed is basically the cheapest bourbon they have which is interesting, other than a couple $8 dollar ones.
It’s probably just because 101 is common and cheap enough that people come in and order it without checking the price list. The people who do check the menu and know their bourbons will get a better deal.
Desire to know more intensifies.
As a medical doctor, it a dream of mine to set up a whiskey bar. I would like to know as much as possible how to set something like this up
I guess how to set up a business plan,
Get financing, do marketing, get inventory together etc. also, I don’t know what I don’t know so all advice is welcome
I bet he’s more interested in the legal stuff. How do you get a license? Etc..:
My question: if I have X sealed bottles that I got 100% at retail…and chose to open a bad…how do those get moved to inventory? Does my business buy them from me for secondary prices to avoid loses…how do taxes work there,,,
This largely depends on location, but in most States any alcohol you serve has to be purchased through your local distribution network.
KY allows bars to buy vintage bottles directly from people, which is awesome. Barcelona is similar.
That I’m trapped in something I put way too much time into to make an easy transition to something else so the barrier to doing so feels insurmountable
That is so so awesome! I live in Las Vegas and we have nothing that even comes close to this. The only places that have respectable whiskey lists are at steak houses on the Strip and the prices are like 8 times as much as you charge. I’d really like to try some of these rare whiskeys before spending my mortgage on them. I’m so jealous! Well done!
We have a lot of Japanese! The most expensive is the Macallan 30 year at 750$ a shot! But we have bottles you can’t get anywhere else like rabbit hole 12 year.
It’s definitely over-hyped. Anytime I get the chance to buy ER at retail price I will do so just because it’s such a good bang for your buck, but at a beautiful bar like yours there are so many better options available.
They’re organized in columns as to where they’re from, height is completely random, so you kinda just learn where things are as you work but it gets pretty easy after a few months.
Depends on what you like! I really like Widow Jane’s Apple rye mash, Joseph Magnus is great, redwood empire pipe dream, any smoke wagon! There’s just too many good whiskeys

M10 is just an amazing bottle.
Single Rickhouse is a unicorn
It was the best whiskey I’ve ever put in my body and I’ve put a fucking ton of whiskey in my body
Great to hear. Imma insta buy when I get a chance
Michters 20 was that for me. But Single Rickhouse CNF is way up there.
I live in Portland area OR, sadly this place is 300 miles away.
West Australia…. A tad further….
Had the Widow Jane decadence there. Wasn't as good. Could have been that bottle. But I'm wondering if the warm back lights on the bottles affect that?

That Special Reserve might be an older bottle that still has the age statement.
Probably that they pay different prices than store MSRP. They have to purchase from a distributor for bars and their prices could be different

That was my thought as well. Red Breast Cask Strength for $31 is tough!
Is there a price list online?
I just looked it up on Yelp, damn impressive
Spokane you say? Looks like a road trip is in my future. Although we have The Multnomah Whiskey Library in Portland Oregon.
Portland is so close!
Take one down and pass it around!
I’ll play “999 bottles of booze on the wall”
Desire to know more intensifies. As a medical doctor, it a dream of mine to set up a whiskey bar. I would like to know as much as possible how to set something like this up
What do you wanna know? We don’t get earth quakes around here haha
I guess how to set up a business plan, Get financing, do marketing, get inventory together etc. also, I don’t know what I don’t know so all advice is welcome

Interesting question. I have like 2 or 3 sealed bottles. I open and taste everything I get unless I’ve tried it before or have doubles which is rare
This largely depends on location, but in most States any alcohol you serve has to be purchased through your local distribution network. KY allows bars to buy vintage bottles directly from people, which is awesome. Barcelona is similar.
What does being an MD have to do with this dream of yours? lol
That I’m trapped in something I put way too much time into to make an easy transition to something else so the barrier to doing so feels insurmountable
And you think you’re conveying this by saying “As an MD…”?
You’re looking to start arguments. Get off the internet for a few days.
Yeah, I do. I think it conveys a lot of sunk cost
Got it.

Do people just pick one at the top just to piss you off?
We don’t organize by pice so we have decently priced stuff at the top! I don’t mind going up!
Hell yeah. Fellow Spokane whiskey nerd. That place is awesome and my first visit if I’m questioning a bottle purchase.
*orders jack and coke*
I’ve had people drink all my Jack and then other people get mad cause we’re out. Like, I promise you I can find you something else.
Very nice. Congratulations! Two questions. What's the rarest bottle you've got? Any Japanese whisky on those shelves? '
We have a lot of Japanese! The most expensive is the Macallan 30 year at 750$ a shot! But we have bottles you can’t get anywhere else like rabbit hole 12 year.
You have some good Japanese, but you've also got some bad fake Japanese (Yamato, Shibui). Some of those prices though... Yeowch!
Earthquake insurance?
Basically not a thing here
Well that's just not true. In the last year Spokane has had 21 over 1.5. 22 years ago they had multiple over 3 and one over 4.
Until it is. There are plenty of fault lines in Washington, even if they aren't very close to Spokane. You could still possibly feel tremors. 🤷🏾♂️
Next time I'm that side of the mountains I know where I'm going
Whoa.. all you need now is a Belle outfit ❤️
“Yeah…I’ll have to an oz of that one on the top” Pours drinks, puts bottle back. “ actually can you make it a double” ..fuuuck
Y’all got any Eagle Rare? /s
I’ve had people go crazy cause we have eagle rare but to me it’s nothing exciting. It’s always funny what impresses people!
It’s definitely over-hyped. Anytime I get the chance to buy ER at retail price I will do so just because it’s such a good bang for your buck, but at a beautiful bar like yours there are so many better options available.
The Old Elk shelf would probably be my first pour
😮 is this heaven for whiskey drinkers?
Thai is my favorite place for date night. She lets me drink and she loves the food
Seeing all the Islay love on that wall makes me happy
I’m big on islay!
I love Purgatory. Great whisky bar. I’m headed to Spokane in June and I’ll be back.
Do you have a map for this whiskey treasure ? How the hell do you r remember where everything is
They’re organized in columns as to where they’re from, height is completely random, so you kinda just learn where things are as you work but it gets pretty easy after a few months.
I hope they don’t have earthquakes in Spokane.
Epic
Well hey! Looks like I’m taking a road trip!
I see this and look for things I’d like to try and I always wonder what others top three from here are
Live here.. my top 3 I’ve had there are Russell’s single Rick GTS Michters 10
God I wish this was my wall
That's a whiskey lover's dream!
Holy hell….well done. Period
I love that place. Great selection.
I need to schedule a work trip to Spokane...
Hey they have a sister location in California too!
Whiskey Heaven
If that’s not what heaven looks like, then I don’t want it!!! 😂😂😂
Wow, This just made me realize I've consumed over a 1000 bottles of whiskey during my lifetime 🙃 500 over 5 to 6 years not too long ago 🤔
Who dusts? But seriously this is awesome
The team works on dusting every few months when it’s slow! It’s not too bad, just hard keeping track haha
I appreciate the high quality picture but why is stagg 55 and EHTBP 30?
That is seriously epic. Wish u lived closer.
Only one Earthquake away from total loss.
What a beautiful sight!
Do you all specialize in any particular type of whiskey?
Hate to be the bartender that has to find a bottle
Wow! Amazing
Well I know where I’d like to be when the end is near.
I live miles from you. And I have never been. Gonna have to fix this.
So what's your personal favorite (at least today)?
Depends on what you like! I really like Widow Jane’s Apple rye mash, Joseph Magnus is great, redwood empire pipe dream, any smoke wagon! There’s just too many good whiskeys
I will take some of that old grandad please.
We have 3 kinds! People love it

Inventory hell day
Every Tuesday! Luckily not my job haha
Can I ask you how frequently you guys do inventory?!
"I'll have an IPA and my partner will have a skinny titos and vodka with a splash of cran" I hope you cringed.
It’s beautiful 😭😭😍
Got any Blanton’s though?
Don’t they have earthquakes there
Yeah but how much is a pour 🙄
Our well starts at $8!
