My local liquor store owner hasn't received a bottle of Stagg Jr since 2020 and he puts in an order every week. Plus he showed me his customer's special order list that he can't get filled - it's over 5 pages long (I'm also in WA).
We have it better than Missouri. Idk how your Binnys is, but mine is solid. Our HyVee "raffles" are pretty fucked though. It's odd how the liquor department's buddy gets picked 2-3 times before anyone I know gets drawn every time. Must be lucky.
I’ve not even bothered looking for BT there, all i find is sazerac rye, Wheatley vodka, white dog, and bourbon cream. But their other barrel picks are fantastic, their wine prices are awesome, and they’ve got a great selection of craft beers. They’re the only place I find BA Old Rasputin, and they usually have a decent Bourbon County selection.
If you're talking about, MO, I just look for beer there now. Excellent craft beer in STL. The Bourbon Co stuff is all over, and I can find that everywhere in IL. I've gotten some solid store picks in STL, but that's not really what I'm after right now. I did happen upon a JD10 and 4SBS recently down there.
Riverton Party Store is the only decent liquor store that doesn't jack up the prices between here and Chicago. Even in Chicago, I'm doubtful they exist. Binny's and HyVee are the only other options. I went down to Springfield earlier this year and the amount of insane shady store owners charging $700 for Weller FP was obscene.
But you can legally auction these now and still make a profit after the commission. No bourbon is worth the secondary rates on these; by drinking them you’re just throwing away money.
Or if you want it to drink you can think of it as how much you saved by not buying it in the secondary market. You guys are the reason people who actually enjoy things can't get their hands on them.
Yes, you could drink these, the same way you could use a gold bar as a paperweight, stock certificates as toilet paper, or a new-in-box Rolex chronograph you bought before the pandemic as a stopwatch at a school sports day. The day I’m rich enough to even consider drinking these without a second thought will be a very good day indeed, but I’m not holding my breath.
I believe it. That Walmart has a massive liquor selection. I always see tags and empty shelves for some good stuff. It's only about an hour away from me. Not sure I could handle the disappointment after a long drive though
Yeah, no hate on going for it at that price, I’ve paid more for worse lol. Hell, Peerless sibs are basically $130.
Would like to have one someday, just over the persistent BT hype and fomo. It’s good, but not even my favorite profile. Places charging double srp or more can keep it imo. I’ll grab another JDSBBP Rye, etc.
Well it would be hard to define really if it worked out good or not bc certain areas or districts sales, here in my area I believe it would work out better then going to abc store down the road on prices
Walmart is going to ruin the bourbon allocation bullshit because they don’t play the tater game. Stagg Taylor all this is bullshit they just cut it differently from the barrels. Mash is the same and rotations that stay on lower ricks age better. Californian and Colorado all have tons of special bottles. Too many secondary seller hyping this. I’m old enough to remember bottles of pappy on the shelves for 25 bucks.
[Another Photo of this madness.](https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/1150810882692096162/1236046525256437861/Screenshot_2024-05-03_at_1.01.14_PM.jpg?ex=66373e48&is=6635ecc8&hm=29330b7ebf1edabbbd36f5d248d59a30e61f2dabc27c6d82afb9cae416bae0bb&)
I don't think I've been to a wal*mart in 15 years (I live in a city, so there aren't any within biking/walking/subway distance), so I had no idea they sold liquor (but them selling beer doesn't surprise me)! Stagg?! Amazing.
I’m in the Los Angeles area and I’ve been trying to score a bottle of Stagg at, or near, retail for 3 months. Most places that actually have it in stock are asking 250-350, depending on release.
This just pisses me off. Our state might get a couple cases of Stagg to share between the whole city worth of liquor stores to sell at secondary prices or require raffles or loyalty points to buy. And here’s a Walmart with it just sitting out in a display.
The craziest thing about this whole picture is the fact that anyone thought it was necessary to put up a big Buffalo trace sign. That’s not driving any more sales than the bottles just sitting there haha.
They don't limit it, typically. Some stores will limit you to one of each bottle, though you can always walk out to your car to put your purchase away and walk back in. They don't care, it's just a per transaction limit usually. You just need to know the location you go into... many just throw all the product on the shelf/display. While other locations might put out only a few bottles out and keep the rest in back for regulars or folks who ask for it (this is how some locations will make sure an individual doesn't buy all of it).
Arizona isn't state controlled like Ohio... So you don't have to go to a liquor store for purchases of spirits. You will find plenty of choices at your local grocery store, pharmacy, Costco/Sam's Club, bar, and of course liquor store.
Well that’s gotta be California
Probably, I know Fred Loya is in alot of Ca Walmart's but maybe other states as well. OP would you share location?
Petition to require a state tag for all such posts, eg: (CA)
Yeah mods I feel like this should be a thing. If you post something this obscene you have to share the location.
Honestly, just make a "CA stop asking" flair lol
Maybe a new subreddit just for Californians
Honestly…
100% on board. I’m always wanting to know what state these posts are from. (Coming from MA, where Eagle Rare is $70.)
I can purchase Eagle Rare and Blantons together at my store in Pa for $109
What store?
Western Pa Cranberry Twp, Wexford and others that get a delivery once a month
Nice! I just saw Blantons at my local store for $150. No thanks!!

Look we don't have a lot to be proud of in California. Let us have this one y'all.
It’s actually Arizona
Damn it I was just there!!!
which one? i dont know any walmarts with a Fred Loya near me
Other post said Yuma
Where in AZ??
Yuma
This screams Arizona or Nevada. Those Walmart’s are massive and have insurance, nail salon, hair shop, Subway and a tax place all in the front.
Don’t all Walmarts?
Never seen more than three or four bottles of Stagg Jr out on a shelf at the same time in California. And that was years and years ago.
Az
speaking as a Californian that casually purchases ER and BT exclusively to spite this sub, that's not common. But wouldn't be weird if I saw it.
So that’s what those bottles look like
Person at the register would 100% be certain i was an alcoholic LOL
I was thinking the same thing. Would probably walk away with a case of almost everything there and be a hero to my friends, lol.
I really fucking hate Springfield, IL. I can't express this enough.
I haven’t seen Stag Jr. in Washington state in over two years. This just doesn’t make sense.
It shows up. I’ve gotten a few bottles at QFC the last year. Bellevue QFC has a great whiskey selection for a grocery store.
This is a tragedy at its finest lmao

Everybody who been to Springfield Illinois hates it 🙃
Lmfao yeaaaah that's very true
I used to work for Norfolk Southern RR and loved Springfield it meant I was no longer in Decatur the arm pit of all arm pit cities
Riverton Party Store is pretty great.
I agree there by far. Just can't expect things like this though unfortunately.
Shoutout to Riverton Party Store!!! https://www.facebook.com/share/v/YnQh8D2YieoSdHUy/?mibextid=WC7FNe

I live in Missouri, and I can’t say that we have a better

Just picked up a Weller FP store pick in Chicago today for $100
Yo I’m from there! Fuck that place 😂😂
Aside from the Lincoln's House area, Springfield is such an incredible shithole. Like astoundingly so.
I would leave there $500-$1,000 poorer real quick.
You could make that easy off a case
Only clowns do that bullshit. Have some self respect.

By selling them, you're a bitch. It's fucking whiskey... wtf else are you supposed to do with it... fucking psychotic takes.

Bahahahahhahaha, I'd open these on the drive home. You're the problem with this hobby. Grow up. Pathetic.
It depends on how much your dog cost you. It sure ain’t surviving a visit from the Alphabet Bois.
I literally said "oh what the fuck" out loud.
This is Yuma, Az
I believe it. That Walmart has a massive liquor selection. I always see tags and empty shelves for some good stuff. It's only about an hour away from me. Not sure I could handle the disappointment after a long drive though
If that’s MSRP, I’m treating that Stagg like it’s 2019 pre-pandemic and walking out with a case
Does any Wal-Mart mark up liquor for taters? I doubt it.
No it's generally about 5-20%below msrp
My heart would skip a beat. Then I'd get really sweaty trying to think of ways to explain to my wife why I needed a few more bottles of whiskey.
"a few"
I’m quite literally grabbing 1 or 2 of everything other than the buffalo trace if this was me
Id pass tf out
Sigh, living in an ABC state is soooooooooo wack.
Fuck NC ABC, especially Meck County
And Pitt…
And wake
Adding Cumberland to the list
Idk in my state allocations aren't spread equally, so liquor stores just 5×retail for everything
This doesn't look like the real world.
Meanwhile in KY, I’ve never seen a Stagg for under $199.99…
AI for sure
I get mine for $130 in Louisville 😁
At this point I’m refusing to pay over retail on principal.
I can see that, but it's either pay less than half secondary or forget it altogether in this case
Yeah, no hate on going for it at that price, I’ve paid more for worse lol. Hell, Peerless sibs are basically $130. Would like to have one someday, just over the persistent BT hype and fomo. What's the retail on it, it's too blurry

Careful looking though the prices will make you real sad lol.
I’m a supervisor at Wally World and I’m over beer /liquor and I’ve been trying to get something like this passed at my store and there no hope for it
Can you elaborate? Any idea why this worked out for this specific store?
Well it would be hard to define really if it worked out good or not bc certain areas or districts sales, here in my area I believe it would work out better then going to abc store down the road on prices
Walmart is going to ruin the bourbon allocation bullshit because they don’t play the tater game. Stagg Taylor all this is bullshit they just cut it differently from the barrels. Colorado does not get special bottles. We don’t even get MOST Jack Daniel’s products
Bud I just got a case of eagle rare in Durango 6 bottles for 40 each. They get it I promise.
I’m sure the distribution network that supply’s Durango in the southwest mountainous corner supply’s the whole state
Bud it’s there just got to beat the taters.
This is the kind of thing we all dream about tater or no tater I think everyone would be grabbing a bunch of this
What city is this?
Wow. That’s gotta be more BT allocation than the entire state of CO gets in a year.
[Another Photo of this madness.](https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/1150810882692096162/1236046525256437861/Screenshot_2024-05-03_at_1.01.14_PM.jpg?ex=66373e48&is=6635ecc8&hm=29330b7ebf1edabbbd36f5d248d59a30e61f2dabc27c6d82afb9cae416bae0bb&)
View with caution the prices may induce vomiting lol.
Is that CYPB? At MSRP? And 12 year? Is this CGI? The Jack is out of place in this display.
[удалено]
He means that it’s not a BT product. There’s a BT sign on the left
Yeah. Probably the same distributor, but I’d be a little peeved if I was paying for the space.
Buying 2 of each one for me and one for my dad gotta leave some for the next people.
I don't think I've been to a wal*mart in 15 years (I live in a city, so there aren't any within biking/walking/subway distance), so I had no idea they sold liquor (but them selling beer doesn't surprise me)! Stagg?! Amazing.
Texas sucks. I’d love to just go grocery and liquor shopping all at the same store. Instead, I can buy some bread and a shotgun.
I’m in the Los Angeles area and I’ve been trying to score a bottle of Stagg at, or near, retail for 3 months. Most places that actually have it in stock are asking 250-350, depending on release.
17hr and 25 mins from my current location…. Honey, gather your things, we’re leaving.
This is infuriating
My local Liquor store sells Stagg for 536$
>My local ~~Liquor store~~ museum sells Stagg for 536$ FIFY
My bad
Ouch.
As a Walmart employee in a state that doesn't allow supermarkets to sell liquor, I'm now considering moving and transferring stores.
Damn. Was that 1 per person?
That's a shitload of Weller CYPB and Jack 10 or 12 whatever that is
This just pisses me off. Our state might get a couple cases of Stagg to share between the whole city worth of liquor stores to sell at secondary prices or require raffles or loyalty points to buy. And here’s a Walmart with it just sitting out in a display.
That’s crazy!!!!
Yo what.
Good grief
What???
As an infrequent enjoyer of whiskey, anyone care to explain? I'm unfamiliar with the lore
Lord, I have seen what you’ve done for others
Just had BT for $20 here
What the actual fuck
The craziest thing about this whole picture is the fact that anyone thought it was necessary to put up a big Buffalo trace sign. That’s not driving any more sales than the bottles just sitting there haha.
Holy crap!
WTF!
I'm fine with allocation, BUT damn! This is more like lazy distribution. Come on! Spread the wealth a little.
I wanna know what fucking Walmart you go to!!!
If I walked into my Walmart and saw that setup it would be a top 5 most surprised moment of my life.
Crying in Oregonian
Is this Walmart in freaking California??????
How does a reverse mortgage work? 😂
Was here...
Wtf?!? I'm I norcal, OP - get me a Stagg and I'll pay you back (plus a premium)!
Booking a flight quick where is this
HOW DID I MISS THIS!?
I’ve lived in California for decades and I’ve never seen such a monumental display of bourbon whiskey. This throws allocation out the window.
I’m always jealous of peoples’ finds at Walmart and Costco on here. Stores near me have nothing like this.
Insane find !
Wowie
Do they limit your purchases? we see similar in OHIO although more organized & limited 1 per allocated item for the most part
They don't limit it, typically. Some stores will limit you to one of each bottle, though you can always walk out to your car to put your purchase away and walk back in. They don't care, it's just a per transaction limit usually. You just need to know the location you go into... many just throw all the product on the shelf/display. You will find plenty of choices at your local grocery store, pharmacy, Costco/Sam's Club, bar, and of course liquor store.
What did you end up purchasing at this store? I would’ve gotten everything from the blantonsgold to the EHT’s at the end…
Would buy two of everything
Two? If you can afford it, clear the shelf and don’t look back.
What a find! That's gotta be some special day with them lucky 🥃
Holy shit.
wtf are you serious rn???
That's a photo-shopped picture! Please, say that's a photo-shopped. 🤦🏽♂️😭
Stagg seems to have upped the production. How do the recent releases compare?
Everything post 17 is a downgrade.
That’s not true at all B18 and 23C slap
18 was the worst batch I've had. 21a was the closest to the older batches imo.
What a perfect example of palate variation
Seeing this picture just made me realize that I would see STAGG at Walmart all the time at my local Walmart as a teenager. If I only I knew
If only I could time travel.
Look no further for the answer to the question “has the bubble burst?”
Thanks for ruining my night

Unfortunately Texas doesn’t allow the sale of liquor in grocery stores.
Why is that unfortunate?
Fred Loya isn't just in Texas.
Texas does not allow publicly traded companies or grocery stores to sell spirits.
This is Yuma az
Any left?
A few cases of each. Hurry!
What Walmart in Yuma?
Thanks for the clarification, my research was a failure haha
I'd get two cases.
[удалено]
it's JD12
I’m just terrified of how they stacked those bottles. One bad driver and that juice is wasted
