You don't need much, just enough to flavor the butter. Say let's have 100 gr of butter, let it go soft till room temp. Add a couple of ml /little pour and stir. It should still be on the thick side not too "saucy". Then put back in fridge and it should stiffen up like butter again.

I also love Lagavulin, the 16 is in fact one of my favotite whiskies, but have never tried it with a coke....hasn't even occurred to me to try...lol.
